"Striker" is a broad term. Are we sure that Archer is a "Pelle" (or Lambert... Or Ings...) type? From what I've seen, he's more of a 'No.10' type striker rather than a 'No.9'...? I still think we need a 'proper' centre forward to complete the set... (Stewart would of course be that man, if he wasn't perpetually "two weeks away"...)

Fair point, although this new fella appears to be a tad more prolific than Mara, looking at his goalscoring stats...

As you say.... We're "almost there" although I'm still concerned that we might be going into yet another season without a Lambert / Pelle / Ings type striker... i.e. a centre forward whose main attribute is their clinical finishing. Is Archer that man...? I'm yet to be convinced...

Because we should be playing the best players in every position rather than picking teams based on loyalty and/or sentimentality...? If Ugochukwu is better than Smallbone then he starts... surely?

Gav's wrists have never really been too effective either, so he'll fit in well...

Shame we couldn't bring him on temporarily each time we get a free-kick in "JWP territory"... something we could import from Amercian Football maybe....?! In all seriousness, his free-kicks can win games or salvage points. The lame free-kicks we had in good positions vs Newcastle being a case in point. Some might say it's a bit of a luxury having a free-kick specialist in your side when he's "pretty average" at everything else... But given our usual 'goal-chances' vs 'goals-scored' ratio, I would say he offers a side like us much more than a team with clinical finishers...

Can't see us winning the prestigious 'Unbeaten Run Trophy' for the second season in succession to be honest...
