  1. Monkey Tennis (we've got a new monkey chicken petting zoo so we may as well make best use of it)
  2. With respect, I think he's asking you who you would install as chairman now in today's situation rather than trying to compare the two in different circumstances. Perhaps the question would be clearer if posed as: "Would you replace Cortese with Lowe tomorrow?"
  3. Mods: On a serious note, I think a poll might not be a bad idea on this. Might help get the whole thing out of people's system once and for all....perhaps....
  4. I'd rather Saints came out of the traps on 7th August blowing caution to the wind with all guns blazing for the first handful of games rather than adopt a safety first approach. However, I've got this gut feeling that Pardew may favour an 'avoid losing at all cost' approach which could result in more draws than wins in the early part of the season (and, yes, potentailly less defeats too) All conjecture I know but, hey, it's an internet messageboard where people debate stuff and suchlike. How would others rather see us play in the early games? All guns blazing from the off or safety first?
  5. I'll make it easier for people.....
  6. s h a g pile? edit: swear filter on carpet types, FFS
  7. Actually, on reflection, make that 17 pages
  8. Thread prediction: 12 pages before the end of the week
  9. Did the radio signal cut out at the point where they said AP is also targetting an engine room style link player in midfield....?
  10. Tsk, tsk - off topic Mr Badger. The OP was asking about new signings rather than re-signing existing players.... :-)
  11. Wot...no engine room midfielder...?
  12. No quote from Pardew I notice. Yay, second dig in quick succession. I'm getting good at this negativity malarkey!
  13. Who carried out his medical given we don't have a doctor at the moment? Yay. First in with a dig. Go Trousers.
  14. Maybe it's the just the nasty Daily Mail exagerating the story....? ;-)
  15. *puts on Dune mask* It's quite obvious that the family in question are intelligent and able to make a decision on what's best for their children. Social Service are for 'families' that aren't blessed with such high IQs *removes Dune mask*
  16. It's absolutely no surprise to hear 'confirmation' (of sorts) that the club was running at a loss last year (and obviously before that). I've posted as much before. Why therefore the clamour for Cortese to make some sort of announcement given all he would be doing is stating the obvious (to most people)? Surely he would be compromising his bargaining power with suppliers etc if he was to reveal details of the company's financial position????
  17. Post #5 before this becomes a Cortese basher..... ;-)
  18. Unless, of course, a company revealing their profit/loss margins in public is not the done thing in business circles as it reveals your hand to suppliers etc....?? Hence Cortese's tight lips....?
  19. And there you have it. A simple explanation that no doubt covers all the "price hikes" we have seen recently. Cortese is simply moving 'the company' from a loss making model to a break even one. Now, if only he'd bloody communicate that simple fact we could close down 37 threads on here!!
  20. Remind me.....how much was Begbie Traynor's final bill.....?
  21. But....in years to come, the "have we signed Owen yet?" posts will almost be as humourous as the Skacel ones :-)
  22. It took a while but I've worked it out. Anyone remember the film 'Brewster's Millions'? The one where the wealthy owner of a company gives Richard Prior's character x million dollars which he must spend every cent of in a fixed time to get his reward? Well, Leibherr has set a similar challenge to Cortese, albeit in reverse. He sat Cortese down on day one and said, "Nicola. If you can save me a million pounds in operating costs by this time next year you can have £10m for transfers next August. The one catch is that you're not allowed to tell ANYONE why you are making these cuts and savings for a whole year. You will inevitably find yourself annoying many fans, and local newspapers, as they won't have a clue what you are doing as only you will know the pot of gold at the end of your challenge. Good luck Nicola, good luck." © script copyright Trousers 2010
  23. 4th? Hey, what's a place in the rich list between friends? :-)
  24. *cough* Swiss Billionairre *cough* 5th richest owner in English Football *cough* ;-)
  25. Good luck with the response. At least it'll keep the thread going for another 4 pages ;-)
