  2. A good read. I'm sure they won't mind a partial cut and paste here as not everyone clicks on unquoted links: "It barely feels like eight years since it was built, when the Saints boasted Premier League power, along with area quarter final opponents Charlton Athletic. It’s a milestone not lost on the home fans that we spoke to, who will surely be glad to see the back of this decade for good. It is great to have a side like the Saints so keen on Johnstone’s Paint glory, and a club with such rich cup heritage in the competition. Lawrie McMenemy might not be leading the side these days, but under the stewardship of Alan Pardew, all the signs are that the club is again looking forward with renewed optimism. We couldn’t praise the St Mary’s surroundings highly enough, and walking pitchside, were amazed at how green and pristine the grass looked. If Ronnie O’Sullivan had stepped out with his snooker cue to join in with the warm up, we wouldn’t have been surprised. As for the game itself. We could see why the Saints fans had so much reason for optimism ahead of kick off. A young, energetic side sprinkled with some seasoned quality in the shape of Rahdi Jaidi and David Connolly impressed immensely. In fact, Pardew’s men looked as impressive as any team we have seen so far this season, and goals from Thomas and Lambert were just reward on the night, as the home side eventually ran out 2-1 winners."...more
  3. +1 Yep, would prefer to get the 'difficult' game out of the way next
  4. Is this the first time that the SaintsWeb forum has had no stickies?
  5. I'm a little disappointed that MLT is top in a poll that wasn't rigged by us
  6. So we were told....
  7. I'm in two minds about what we should do in January if we're within striking distance of a play off place. Part of me thinks we should keep the squad largely 'as is', perhaps adding just few low key signings where Pardew thinks the squad could do with some extra depth, whereas the other part of me thinks we should be bullish and buy 2 or 3 high profile players to press home our financial advantage over most of the other sides in the league. The former approach would galvanise the team spirit that would inevitably be sky high whereas the latter approach could prove unsettling to the existing players whilst improving the squad on paper. What do others think would be the best tactic to push on for a playoff place if it's in our sights in January?
  8. Would be better if he did it at the home game on the 26th December rather than away at Colchester on Boxing Day IMHO
  9. My Dad's Birthday
  10. What date is the final (he said counting chickens....)
  11. Pards will have St Will on his back for being too negative if he's not careful....
  12. We're now winning games when we don't play at the top of our game. Sign of a superb team. Well done chaps.
  13. Strolled it. Lallana and Lambert a different class. How on Earth are we going to keep Lallana in January??
  14. COYR....early goal please
  15. Yes, we are 100% on top...no chances for Charlton....many for us. My guess about Bart is that Pards wants to try an outfield captain and perhaps thought the most diplomatic way of doing it was to 'rest' Davies....just a hunch
  16. Is that Benali in his office or Sky's?
  17. I knew that....honest! I was looking at the bigger picture....
  18. Charlton haven't had a Sundance
  19. Dilema for Pards at half-time? Maybe looking to rest one or two but one goal cushion not enough?
  20. Charlton haven't got a Scooby
  21. I love this league. Will be a shame to get promoted
  22. how thye f*** did that stay out!
  23. If we don't win every remaining game this season (exclusing FA Cup) I'll eat a badger
