Mr Brown was on the news this morning saying that "The majority of people in this country don't want a Tory government". I'm assuming he didn't quite see the irony in that statement given c.72% of the country don't want a Labour government.

Why do people think it's unreasonable for the chairman of a company to be reviewing his management team? He may well come to the conclusion that Pardew is the best man for the job but for him not to be considering all his options would be a dereliction of his duties. Surely it's reasonable that Cortese is looking at his managerial options, if that is indeed the case?

Fair question. But the reverse of that question is also true if we look at this logically rather than emotively. Using an extreme to illustrate a point...if Cortese replaced Pardew with Morinho (spelling?) there wouldn't be one person on here saying: "what a crap move". Ok, we're highly unlikely to attract someone from those eschellons but on the manergerial scale if competence there is every chance a replacement for Pardew would be as successful as Pardew has been/could be. So, yes, I agree, it would be a risk but that's what business decisions are all about - measured risk taking
