Sheff Utd manager Kevin Blackwell can't remember what our manager is called in this radio interview! Made me chuckle..... Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7681999.stm (30 seconds in) Blackwell: "We actually played against....er.... the new manager... ...er..um.....I forget what his name is....er...in Holland in pre-season" Priceless!

Shearer reiterates management interest http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7681338.stm Some 'beating about the bush' when asked about whether he'd only want to manage in the Premier league.....

Are you getting that sinking feeling too?

Indeed. Does this not go some way to shooting down the "it's not significant....it's only 0.0000004% of the overall share allocation...." argument that a lot of the cynics come back with when someone highlights a batch of round 5 figure sums being traded from time to time? In other words, if it's difficult to get one's hands on 10,000 shares then when one sees a series of such trades, more or less at MARKET RATES, then 'something' relatively significant must have happened behind the scenes to make it happen?

Is anyone else finding this news hard to swallow?

You don't have to pay the full annual insurance premium up front though..... I pay for my insurances (car, house contents & buildings etc) by direct debit. As such, I only pay for one month "up front". I can cancel at anytime and thus only ever pay for what I use. So, if I don't feel I'm getting value for money I can tell my insurer where to go without losing any money. Is it possible to redeem a football season ticket early? (I genuinely don;t know the answer to that 100%, although I suspect the answer is "no")

Yep, first......and last.....

Sheff Utd v Southampton Venue: Bramall Lane Date: Tuesday, 21 October Kick-off: 1945 BST Coverage: Full commentary on BBC Radio Solent 96.1FM, and coverage on BBC Radio Sheffield. "Southampton welcome back midfielder Simon Gillett from injury. The 22-year-old is likely to go straight into the starting eleven. Loan winger Ryan Smith (hamstring) is out, while Morgan Schneiderlin will return in the reserves later this week." Southampton head-coach Jan Poortvliet told BBC Radio Solent: "We have to defend set pieces better. Sheffield United are a big, physical side, and they will punish us if we don't defend a lot better." "We need to show more character when things go wrong. If we go behind, it's a big problem." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7671700.stm

Did you hear it from Marvyn Gaye? ;)

Indeed, which is why I assume they set out a "10 - 12 week" timeframe in July for doing just that. It's a good job there aren't any conspiracy theorists around to read too much into this 'delay'.....

"Company Southampton Leisure TIDM SOO Headline Trading Statement Released 10:40 24-Jul-08 Number 7866Z10 /**/ RNS Number : 7866Z Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC 24 July 2008 Southampton Leisure Holdings Plc ('the Company') Trading Update The Board of Southampton Leisure Holdings Plc is today providing a Trading Update prior to the release of its financial results for the year ended 30 June 2008 and in advance of the start of the 2008/09 football season. Finance Director David Jones said 'The Company has seen a number of management changes during the financial year and with the preliminary announcement of the years results to 30 June 2008 not due for 10 to 12 weeks, we thought it would be appropriate to provide all stakeholders with an indication of the financial results for the year just completed. With the loss of the parachute payment from the Premier League and reduced ticket and commercial income, revenue for the year is expected to be around £14m with a loss before tax of around £5m". The financial results will show an increase in the level of borrowings which has necessitated extensive discussions with the Company's bank and loan note holder, both of whom remain supportive of the board's approach. Chairman Rupert Lowe added, " The Directors are aware that this is clearly not sustainable and are concentrating on reducing costs, however the Directors remain hopeful about the prospects for the forthcoming season. Jan Poortvliet and Mark Wotte are very excited about what will be a young dynamic team determined to play fast and attractive football. I hope everyone involved with the Club will get behind Jan, Mark and the team." Southampton Leisure Holdings Plc expects to release its audited accounts in October. This information is provided by RNS The company news service from the London Stock Exchange " http://www.londonstockexchange.com/LSECWS/IFSPages/MarketNewsPopup.aspx?id=1909467&source=RNS 12 weeks from 24th July was last Thursday (16th October) by my calculations. Why the delay in formally announcing the half year results? Is there a statutory date they have to adhere to?
