  1. I'm no expert (does it show?! ) but I've just watched an item on BBC news where they explained how people changing their regular purchase patterns (in any goods, including fuel) can upset the supply chain. For example, they interviewed a petrol station owner who says he gets a tanker delivery every 5 days which lasts just over 5 days. So, if people start topping up more often than they usually do he'll run out of fuel in 3 to 4 days. I'm assuming most people wait until they're around a quarter full before refilling whereas I guess some people are now thinking they should refill at half full or even three quarters. He said if people kept to their usual patterns there is unlikely to be a major issue.
  2. Usually Friday early p.m. for Sunday games, but haven't seen the usual trailer they put out for it yet. Edit: they just posted this as I hit 'submit' on the above post!
  3. Fair enough. Was just wondering if not having a settled line-up could be a factor given its often cited as a contributor to poor form in 1st team football.
  4. I guess the simple short term solution would be to draft in tanker drivers from the armed forces, but given the human race's propensity for knee-jerk over-reaction, that in itself would probably cause panic buying too.
  5. Yep... More panic buying giving rise to more closures. #cause #effect
  6. Whenever I look at a B Team starting 11 it always seems to be almost completely different to the previous match's team. Whilst I'm not trying to defend the team management here, do we know if the constant chopping and changing is an enforced situation or is it out of choice? It can't help if a team is constantly chopping and changing like it appears to. No time to gel etc. Would be interesting to see how our frequency of line up changes compares to other u23s teams.
  7. What would be the tangible consequences of such a damaged reputation? (That are worse than Brexit) I think I would need convincing that the benefits of being back in the EU wouldn't outweigh any reputational concerns (which, after all, can be repaired over time).
  8. I guess if the headline was worded: "BP temporarily closed 0.41% of its forecourts" that Murdoch link wouldn't get as many clicks...
  9. I've always said the majority of the human race are hypocrites, myself included. And you're right, those of us that admit it are very much in the minority.
  10. Fair points. Perhaps it underlines how poor the 'Remain' campaign was given they were seemingly incapable of debunking such a ridiculous slogan. P.s. if Dominic 'Paragon of Truth' Cummings says it was decisive then it must be an undisputable fact I guess... I still maintain you'd have to be extremely intellectually challenged if a suggestive slogan on the side of a bus was the deciding factor on whether to vote leave or remain. It didn't fool you or I, and we're unlikely to feature on Mensa's roll of honour any time soon.
  11. It's a good job panic buying doesn't perpetuate such issues...
  12. Surely being a fully-fledged member of the EU would be better than Brexit though?
  13. I've just ordered a tank refill for my oil powered boiler and a pallet of logs for the log burner. Both pretty much the same price as 6 months ago. Should keep me going until Spring Sometimes it pays to be old fashioned!
  14. Dunno. Is it more or less than the cost of the Man Utd and Man City teams we recently drew against...?
  15. Actually, on reflection, this could be a good draw for us. Chelsea have a congested fixture list in October so will likely field a fringe team and I assume Ralph will revert to us playing full strength (yes, I know Chelsea's fringe players are probably better on paper than our first 11, however...)
  16. Looking on the bright side, it's 3 and a half years since we last lost at Stamford Bridge
  17. 23rd January 2021 v Arsenal (FA Cup 4th Round)
  18. IIRC, this was the company that was something to do with the DaGrossa bid? Another one to add to the annuls of takeover folklore.
  19. It's never "everyone" but I do recall Mane getting a significant amount of flak in his early days. Would be surprised if it wasn't the majority view at the time. I think the most concerning element of Lyanco's debut for me is that his mistake for their second goal was a completely unforced error. You could understand such a woeful pass if the player was under pressure, but he wasn't. Maybe it was a one off brain-fart and one's concern is unfounded. Who knows. I'm usually one of the last people on here to make snap judgements about managers, players, early season form, etc, so I'll give Lyanco the benefit of the doubt despite these initial concerns.
