  1. Not 3pm on a Saturday afternoon...
  2. How many times does Armstrong want to "lash it into the side netting"...?
  3. They had the shits a week ago... How long does it take to recover from that FFS? A couple of Imodium and job's a good 'un, surely...

I've got "Fabrice defends this statement within 27 minutes of it being posted" in the sweepstake. Come on Fabrice me ol' mucker... Don't let me down 🙏🏻
  5. Question for anyone who follows the u21s closely... Do we have anyone in the squad at the moment who is head and shoulders above everyone else and thus likely to be knocking on the door of the first team this season? In other words, do we have another Jay Robinson or Tyler Dibling in our midst?
  6. Given we needed to strengthen up front, and assuming we purchased Downs to achieve that aim, then surely, by definition, he has to start? Unless, of course, he was purchased as another back-up / squad-filler and we're yet to see that elusive 'better' striker materialise...? (And, no, I haven't thought this post through yet, so it comes with the usual: 'trousers could be talking bollocks' health warning, before anyone thinks to question my self-perceived wisdom 😁)
  7. Agreed 👍🏻
  8. Yep, agree that's a reasonable ambition for a first season back, although some might hypothesise that you sometimes need to 'shoot for the stars to reach the moon'... (The other way around can sometimes work too of course... Back to my fence sitting best... )
  9. Yep, I guess the "wet fanny" accusers pick up on the vocal minority rather than pay attention to the pragmatism of the vast majority of posters....

Aye... A breath of fresh air indeed 👍🏻
  11. I'm hearing we've put a bid in for this lad...
  12. Yep, agree. All things considered it's a decent, refreshing signing 👍🏻
  13. You should know by now that expressing a different point of view on here is often frowned upon...
  14. Who's saying they're not happy with this signing...? It's almost as if some people are being "wet fannies" in their reactions to others' posts...
  15. Yeah, fair point (although maybe "the exceptions that prove the rule" territory...?) One thing you can never accuse me of is thinking too hard about what I post, which it why it often comes out as utter drivel... If only some others on here had similar levels of introspection and self-awareness...
  16. Just to be clear, I'm really happy with this signing. It's just that I get slightly nervous / wary after last year's shit show where we ended up having too many Championship standard and/or mediocre Premier League players on our books after the promotion transfer window. That said, I'm rather optimistic that Sport Republic have learned from those mistakes and we'll invest in some proper PL quality next time around rather than faffing around in the sub-£20m market.... P.s. I'm getting slightly light headed expressing an actual opinion rather than sitting on the fence...
  17. Yep, fair point too 👍🏻
  18. Yeah, fair point 👍🏻
  19. Yes, absolutely. But isn't that the level we should be aiming to be at if/when we return...?
  20. Yep... Roerslev joined Brentford in August 2019 and Ankersen left in December 2021. This transfer surely has Ankersen's finger prints all over it (I'm not making any judgement on that basis though)
  21. It is of course reasonable to question his credentials (even though expressing doubt inevitably attracts the wrath of some on here)... The way I look at any transfer such as this is: "Why are Brentford seemingly happy to sell a player in his prime (26 years old), and a fan favourite to boot, when he's played over 100 PL games and a club like them surely needs players of that ilk to survive in that league?" The only logical answer is that they don't see him as high enough calibre in the PL now, even if they did beforehand. You could understand it if he was being enticed away by a better club, but this is a downward move for a relatively low transfer fee (supposedly / probably). Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great acquisition for a Championship side but if/when we go straight back up, the stark fact is that we'll have a player on our books that Brentford deemed not good enough for the PL anymore (or, at least, they feel there's better players available than him) So, yep, it's reasonable to look ahead and ponder if he'll work out in the long term, at the same time as being happy to have him for this season.

  23. You possibly don't to be fair.... My memory often plays tricks on me. For the record (serious mode for a second), this fella looks very good for this level and a decent option to have in the premier league
