I think perhaps the main cause for the angst is that it's not just the "usual ill-informed posters" that have suggested/hinted that the Hughes announcement would be done and dusted by now but that the usual club media organs have also implied/stated as such since the end of the season. Even dear old Ralph was dropping not so subtle hints that it was a rubberstamping exercise a couple of weeks ago. Did you give any consideration to replacing the words "might be" with something a little more definitive per chance?

Devil's advocate and/or thinking-out-loud klaxon... Given our club's mantra has been about "building a self sufficient operating model" for several years, where would this extra £50m that Hughes supposedly wants come from? Given we don't make £50m profit per annum, one assumes this additional funds would have to be borrowed from somewhere but how does that fit into the aforementioned self sufficiency model? I suppose buying players we can't afford might help us 'win' an FA Cup. That approach seemed to work for the previous football club that played at Fratton Park prior to 2012... The fact that Hughes is the only one already in situ could be a reason why it's not being rushed through. The others may be acting quicker because they need to (to avoid losing out to other clubs for example). Saints and Hughes may have a "gentleman's agreement" that he'll stay ergo there's no mad rush to lock in the deal. Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows...?

Next season is shaping up to be their best ever since their formation in 2012
