Didn't one of our financial gurus on here recently explain why we might need/want to sell early? I think the logic was that if we sell assets before the end of the financial year (i.e. 30th June) then we get to spend more on wages in the next financial year? And the more we increase our wages (within the FFP) the more, in the longer term, we can spend on players. (It seemed to make sense when I read what they posted but I can't recall the reason in depth.)
We won't know the answer to that until the end of this season. The new intake might end up being better than those that have left, or they might end up being worse.

"Reports in France claim Jose Mourinho’s side were one of a handful of top European clubs – and Norwich – who sent scouts to keep tabs on the Uruguayan at the weekend."
Miaow
He does sound like our kinda player though. Surely he'd prefer to come to a club like us rather than be a benchwarmer at the likes of Utd...?
Slightly surprised we're not giving the likes of Bertrand and Gardos a run out in this game, even only for one half. Maybe too soon for Gardos but timing would have been perfect for Bertrand I'd have thought
Agree. As long as there was a shared wages agreement I would see it as a 'nothing to lose' loan.
Just watch him go to the likes of Everton or West Ham though, and have a superb season...
No, of course there aren't any Pompey fans on here masquerading as disgruntled Saints fans. What a daft notion. They are simply ardent Saints fans with an alternative agenda, oops, sorry...alternative opinion...
Why be exasperated? That's exactly how the usual suspects on here want to make you feel. Just do what I do and sit back and watch with mild amusement as they follow the usual script every time we have an indifferent start to the season or a bad run mid season.
They feed off reactions (indeed, watch the response this post of mine will receive.... "So, we're not allowed an alternative opinion?"..." Its a forum for discussion"... "Give us your own opinion Trousers"...." Deflection....blah blah blah"..."chomp chomp chomp".....Textbook stuff).
Its almost as of this forum has been infiltrated by a bunch of Pompey fans intent on winding up your average pragmatic Saints fan. Which of course it hasn't. Ridiculous notion....
On with the show...Act 5 Scene 2....
The only problem I foresee with this meltdown and ultimate collapse is that we won't end up in the same league as Pompey. Next season, when we're getting relegated from the Championship they'll be getting promoted from League 1. Disappointing to say the least.
