Didn't one of our financial gurus on here recently explain why we might need/want to sell early? I think the logic was that if we sell assets before the end of the financial year (i.e. 30th June) then we get to spend more on wages in the next financial year? And the more we increase our wages (within the FFP) the more, in the longer term, we can spend on players. (It seemed to make sense when I read what they posted but I can't recall the reason in depth.)

Which alternative player(s) would you entice to sign for us to sit on the bench for much of the season?

We won't know the answer to that until the end of this season. The new intake might end up being better than those that have left, or they might end up being worse.

Why be exasperated? That's exactly how the usual suspects on here want to make you feel. Just do what I do and sit back and watch with mild amusement as they follow the usual script every time we have an indifferent start to the season or a bad run mid season. The only problem I foresee with this meltdown and ultimate collapse is that we won't end up in the same league as Pompey. Next season, when we're getting relegated from the Championship they'll be getting promoted from League 1. Disappointing to say the least.
