This is the crux of my original post on this thread (post #7). Until we (Joe Public) know what is true, and what isn't, about both the existing contract and the new contract, how is any layman in a position to debate what is unfair/unreasonable about the new contract? It would seem that people in general prefer to argue about headlines rather than actually delve down into the facts. As I say, I've no idea who's right or wrong, so I've no idea whether I should be joining the Jeremy Hunt witch hunt brigade or backing the government on this. Is there a factual summary of the contract somewhere online, or do we only have headlines and opinionated newspaper reports to go on?

The Wales v Scotland rugby match kicks off at 16:50 in Cardiff, so there won't be a clash with Swansea vs Saints football traffic, surely? Indeed, I would suggest that the rugby kick-off time is ideal given that it's too late in the day to affect Saints fans travelling to Wales late morning/early afternoon, and too early to affect Saints fans returning home?

Putting the party political mud slinging, and the social media bandwagon hatred of Jeremy Hunt, to one side for one moment (yeah, I know, I know.... this is the SaintsWeb forum and all that.....) but what is actually unfair or unreasonable about the new contract? I'm not asking that question because I've read through it and come to my own conclusion. I'm asking precisely because I haven't read through it (at all, let alone in any detail). All I've got to go on in order to form an opinion, one way or the other, is what I've read in the press and heard on TV etc. Is there anyone here that's gone through it in some detail and still come to the conclusion that it is unfair or unreasonable? If so, what parts of it? Here's what Hunt said in his statement to the House of Commons earlier: https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/jeremy-hunt-updates-parliament-on-the-junior-doctors-contract If we take that statement at face value (again, yes I know that's a dangerous presumption whenever politicians are involved), what is Hunt saying that is (a) incorrect and (b) unfair or unreasonable? (my wife and sister-in-law both work in the NHS so I have some insight into internal affairs but neither have had much direct exposure to the Junior Doctor contract proposals) I'm open to persuasion that Hunt is doing something horrendously wrong here, but equally open to the possibility that this could just be the BMA agitating for an anti-Tory fight. I guess if you can get away with fleecing the government and tax payer for tens of millions of pounds twice in short succession, there's no reason to believe that they can't do it again for a third time.

I was slightly amused earlier reading through the Twitter timeline of a certain 'Pompey Saviour' during the administration years. His tweets these days are mainly bashing the Government, HMRC, large corporations and rich individuals for tax fraud and evasion and how they shaft 'Joe Public'.... Well, the irony overload amused me anyway
