Mawson is only 1 inch taller than Gibson, that is hardly a huge gap in height. What makes you think Gibson is not a leader or vocal? He is Middlesbrough's captain and knows how to point...

He reportedly has has a min fee release clause, Stoke can not raise his price if that is true. Any club that makes a bid at the level of the release clause automatically has the bid accepted. There is no need what so ever to bid higher.

Player swap deals do happen, but are very rare and represent an extremely tiny % of all transfers completed. They are more commonly seen in media rumours than concluded transfers.

I don't see why them leaving would require a replacement, last season they were not in the first team squad so don't need to be replaced.

That has already happened earlier in the thread.

Is that a hint Shaqiri is possibly on his way to Saints?

Yes, on day one... https://southamptonfc.com/2017/08/14/katharina-liebherr-letter-to-southampton-football-club-fans

He asked a question how many of the other PL teams have not signed a player and I answered his question with a list of those teams. So how is it not the point?

PL teams without a 1st team signing so far this summer, 10 days before pre-season training starts... Burnley Everton Chelsea Spurs Fulham Bournemouth Saints So 7 teams (eight if you include Newcastle who have only signed players they had on loan last season). Some others only have 1 or 2 new players.

He signed a new 5 year contract on 17th May 2018. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44160537

Nor were any scouts, yet they'd also be involved in the discussion. So it is clearly not a full list.

Is the Maddison deal really a stick to beat the club with? If so... why exactly? Would you like another van Dijk sulk situation this summer, this time with Tadic?

Why? Head of recruitment and 1st team manager listed. That is what you'd expect.

I'm confident you haven't got a shred of evidence for that. Southampton's wage budget dwarfs Norwich's. If Saints were offering £25m for a player, he'd be offered a huge wage far in excess of what Norwich pay him.

1) Do you think if Leicester had not bid for Maddison he would be a Southampton player? 2) Is it really a bad situation if Leicester beat us to a £25m signing?

Why have you jumped to that conclusion on 21st June? How do you know what will happen in the rest of the window? It appears Saints made a huge bid for Maddison, so how is that not showing a willingness to spend?

I'm not saying it is going to definitely or likely to happen any time soon, but you know it is 2018 and as recently as 2016 Saints finished 6th don't you? So to rule it out ever happening again is a little extreme.

Not really, he has seemingly spent the majority of his time as a central midfielder, where as Mane was in the attacking positions. Record for both at Salzburg... Amadou Haidara = 36 games & 4 goals = 0.1 goals per game Sadio Mane = 87 games & 45 goals = 0.5 goals per game Mane is an attacking midfielder/winger/striker and a goalscorer, Haidara is not.

Enlighten me as to why signing a player 2 weeks ago, today or in 7 days matters when training does not start for 10+ more day!? I can't see why pointing that fact out makes me a "troll".

Because it hasn't signed a player 10+ days before the players start pre-season? I'm not sure why you are using that as a stick to beat the club with. If a player signed today, he would not be training tomorrow, they don't start probably until July!

Nope, they lost the playoff semi final to Aston Villa. Wolves, Cardiff and Fulham were promoted.

I doubt he had much to do with it.
