We are 3 players different to last season's team. Is... - Austin really inferior to Pelle - Boufal really inferior to Mane - Romeu really inferior to Wanyama ??? Boufal hasn't played enough for any Saints fan to justify him not being as useful as Mane. Romeu is having a superb season as first choice and Austin was the pre-emptive replacement for Pelle and is our top scorer.

Only if the stadium surrounding areas are unsafe, because the Turf Moor pitch has undersoil heating so snow isn't a problem.

Are you being serious? A large number of Championship players are on more than £25k p/w, let alone a 26 year old French international from Liverpool.
-
Why did you think that? We had the most difficult recovery times over the festive games, plus have the League Cup semis to deal with. The rotation with Europa League games was due to high numbers of fixtures, that is still the case, probably until February now when it should give us more recovery time and a week to prepare for each game. Some Saints fans still live in the 1970/80/90's when it comes to sports science. Players these days run considerably further each match and in training than they ever did 10/20/30 years ago, it is hard to recover for another high level match days later. Also some Saints fans overlook players have different recovery times and demands in different positions aren't the same. For example van Dijk is better able to recover than Fonte and players such as the fullbacks need more rotation due to the huge amounts of running they do in Southampton's style of play.

When you rotate players to keep them fresh in a hectic schedule, having a good game doesn't necessarily matter. With Austin injured, Rodriguez has been playing in the more important/more difficult fixtures (Spurs/Everton/Liverpool) and Long gets the games inbetween (West Brom & Norwich), that decision is probably made in advance of performances in games.

If that is true, he'd need to move to a foreign league.

I'm intrigued to see you list some of these and provide good evidence they were "lies".
-
You agree you would write an article about Saints in the same way an attention seeking Talksport presenter & Mirror "journalist" who supports Portsmouth would right one? :mcinnes: At least you've reached the first stage and finally admitted it at long last!!!
-
What is "quiet" exactly? You support Saints, not West Ham who feel the need to blurt out to SSN they are signing X, Y & Z. Just because Saints transfer news isn't in the press, doesn't mean they aren't doing lots of things behind the scenes. In any case January really isn't a good month to be a buyer, as it is harder to get good value for money.

Not sure why you've jumped to that conclusion.

It appears you both have English comprehension problems, read what I said word for word again.

You know we haven't played in a diamond since the first few games of the season don't you? It is more like this...

People have been giving him stick for his kicking. Which hasn't been great, but many overlook the difficult way some of them have come back to him, especially those at pace on to his left foot that need to be dealt with quickly. Apart from that I see little wrong with his game and some people seem to just be looking for scapegoats anytime we lose.

Our main formation doesn't have an AM role.

Bigger than the Boufal deal and a new club record?
-
No where in that article does it say Schneiderlin is available for £13m or that Mourinho is happy with it at £13m. It is merely the bid West Brom have made at the moment, doesn't mean it will be accepted or Man Utd are happy with it.
-
Are you aware how daft all of that is? We have scored enough goals to be 7th after 17 games. It would be nice if we scored more, but it is possible with a defence as good as ours for us to still finish high despite not scoring many. A 1-0 win gives as many points as a 4-1 win.

Some Saints fans complain when we sell players, but we sign players who are current 1st choices for other clubs. They forget the football transfer market has a pecking order, which evolves a little over the years but it is hard to compete with the elite at the top who have current incomes 2x, 3x or 4x+ more than Saints. Player bought for Saints current 2016/17 Premier League squad... 1st choice at previous club at time they left Forster - Celtic Cedric - Sporting Lisbon Maya Yoshida - VVV Venlo Clasie - Feyenoord Gardos - Steaua Bucharest Fonte- Crystal Palace Long - Hull City Davis - Rangers Rodriguez - Burnley Austin - QPR Tadic - FC Twente van Dijk - Celtic Boufal - Lille Redmond - Norwich City Not 1st choice at previous club at time they left McCarthy - Crystal Palace Romeu - Chelsea Martina - FC Twente Bertrand - Chelsea Hojbjerg - Bayern Munich
