Thats what the potential ability rating is for. At the moment he hasn't proven himself regularly against high quality attacking players.

If they want an Englishman the field is very limited and Pardew would probably be high on any list given there aren't many others managing Premier League clubs. Gary Neville might be worth a go as he is already working with England, but a big risk given his lack of actual management experience.

They only very briefly overlapped at Celtic. van Dijk signed for Celtic on 21st June 2013, Wanyama signed for Saints 11th July 2013. So would have had a handful of training sessions in July together.

If van Dijk proves himself in the Premier League he'll be getting a boost for the winter update, but until now he hasn't been tested at a high level in domestic football.

He did play as the left sided centre back for Celtic and he is right footed.

In any case Koeman uses the formation I used in the OP, has used all of those players in those positions and has used 4 attacking players in the front four roles before. So what did I do that was clueless...?
