  1. Can you give examples?
  2. He also omitted Saints paid Palace a % of the Clyne deal. Its a simplistic way of looking at transfers as it doesn't take into account for example signing on fees, agent fees, other extras and that fees are rarely paid all upfront.
  3. That second XI of subs wouldn't be a bad team. I think we now have the best depth we've ever had in the Premier League.
  4. Add Matthew Targett to make it a choice from 11?
  5. Not just N'Zonzi... Begovic sold, Moses loan ended and Shawcross out injured needing back surgery. As for Palace, they may not have lost key players but they were below us in quality last season so had a lot to catch up even before we started signing players.
  6. Yep, I did it so each player was only in one position. You could also say S.Davis and Ward-Prowse play at times in an attacking midfield role as one of the three in a 4-2-3-1 system.
  7. With Romeu and possibly van Dijk they'd be a good amount of depth to the squad... Goalkeepers Stekelenburg Forster (long term injury) Gazzaniga K.Davis Right backs Cedric Martina Left backs Bertrand Targett Centre backs Fonte van Dijk? Caulker Yoshida Gardos (long term injury) Central midfield Wanyama Clasie Romeu S.Davis Ward-Prowse Reed Attacking players Pelle Mane Rodriguez Tadic Juanmi Long Plus some promising under 21 players if needed.
  8. Its happened before, but he quickly returns to his negative jumping to conclusions without evidence ways.
  9. Forster signing for Saints and Celtic being reinstated to the Champions League happened on the same day. Perhaps the Forster deal was too far advanced by the point they knew they were definetly still in the Champions League.
  10. van Dijk has had two seasons of European football with Celtic. That is a higher level than League One of the Championship, Celtic played... 2013/14 Champions League group stage vs Barcelona, AC Milan & Ajax 2014/15 Europa League group stage vs RB Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Astra Giurglu and a final 32 tie vs Inter Milan
  11. What does that mean? Are you accusing him of having some kind of agenda against Saints?
  12. Based on the nonsense he just posted I doubt it, but you never know with ART.
  13. Shoehorning Davis into the side as a left wing back isn't a great idea. Why play Davis completely out of position and not use Targett in a role he is suited to?
  14. Who on earth would lend them the ten of millions of pounds to build such a redevelopment? They aren't exactly blessed with a good credit rating having failed as a company multiple times in the past 20 years. Effectively Pompey have done this with the Tesco deal...
  15. It looked like he came off as a precaution and wasn't that bad as he watched the rest of the match from the bench rather than having treatment. Plus he just tweeted this... Jordy Clasie ‏@JordyClasie 3m3 minutes ago Happy to be back on the field #SaintsFC Would he do that if injured again?
  16. He is struggling to cope with their left winger as he doesn't have the pace to keep up.
  17. He was injured during the RB Leipzig game on 8th July.
  18. True and often when Koeman is asked about a player he isn't interested in he dismisses it - like with Leon Goretzka. He hasn't done that with van Dijk.
  19. Fonte and Koeman didn't initiate the discussion to be about van Dijk, journalists asked them both a question directly about him.
  20. Jordy Clasie starts for the under 21s tonight... Southampton FC ‏@SouthamptonFC 23m23 minutes ago #SaintsFCU21s team against @MCFC: Gazzaniga, Gape, McCarthy ©, Wood, Debayo, Clasie, Reed, Hesketh, McQueen, Isgrove, Barnes. #saintsfc
  21. Which I think was a mistake by a poor manager in Gareth Southgate. Why aren't the players you mentioned (who are peers of Ward-Prowse) playing in the Premier League at the moment? If Saints were to loan him there would be no need to send him to the Championship as he'd get regular football at a bottom half Premier League side, but they won't loan him out as he is a useful homegrown squad player in a season they could have a lot of games. He might not be a starter for us, but he is good enough over a season to get a large amount of Premier League minutes to aid his development.
  22. None of them have remotely close to the Premier League experience Ward-Prowse has. For example Chalobah struggled to get into a poor Burnley team and has has played 4 Premier League games. Ward-Prowse is already at a level of ability above the Championship. I'm not saying he should be a regular starter for Saints who came 7th last season, but he is of a good enough quality already to play in the Premier League.
  23. Why would it have to be in the Championship? He could easily be a regular starter for a bottom half Premier League team. Doesn't really matter anyway, because it is very unlikely to happen and would also leave Saints without one of their homegrown central midfielders in a season they could have a lot of games to play.
  24. Had Targett not jumped and instead left his leg planted in the turf then he could have had it broken. Even McClaren admitted it was a red.
  25. A loan in the Championship would be a regression for someone already with 74 Premier League games under his belt. He has shown he is good enough for the Premier League, okay not as a regular starter for 7th placed Saints yet, but he will still get a good amount of game time this season for a good Premier League team.
