  1. They aren't opposites of each other. The graphic isn't a list of buys, it is a list of the cost of players currently in the squad. So it doesn't include the cost to buy Lovren or Osvaldo for example as they are no longer at the club.
  2. Cost of current players in squads across the big 5 European Leagues, and Saints are pretty high... 6 clubs higher in England 3 clubs higher in Spain 1 club higher in France 1 club higher in Germany 3 clubs higher in Italy Makes Saints 15th out of all the clubs in England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. The graphic isn't a list of all our buys, it is a list of the cost of players currently in the squad. 3. Thats what the potential ability rating is for. At the moment he hasn't proven himself regularly against high quality attacking players.
  4. van Dijk is 6 foot 4, Fraser Forster is 6 foot 7.
  5. His first training session today...
  6. If they want an Englishman the field is very limited and Pardew would probably be high on any list given there aren't many others managing Premier League clubs. Gary Neville might be worth a go as he is already working with England, but a big risk given his lack of actual management experience.
  7. Pochettino currently 16/1 on Skybet to be first manager to leave... http://www.skybet.com/football/specials/manager-specials
  8. They only very briefly overlapped at Celtic. van Dijk signed for Celtic on 21st June 2013, Wanyama signed for Saints 11th July 2013. So would have had a handful of training sessions in July together.
  9. To the Championship? He can't go to Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Portugal etc.
  10. The MK Dons game in the League Cup would be a good opportunity for him.
  11. If van Dijk proves himself in the Premier League he'll be getting a boost for the winter update, but until now he hasn't been tested at a high level in domestic football.
  12. He did play as the left sided centre back for Celtic and he is right footed.
  13. If thats true Spurs are a shambles and don't know Premier League rules. You are only allowed 2 domestic loans and Saints have Caulker and Stekelenburg.
  14. Bloody hell! Not enough McInnes' in the world for that, so four will have to do... :mcinnes::mcinnes: I wasn't saying that should be the line-up in every game; I was giving a brief overview of options we now have. In any case Koeman uses the formation I used in the OP, has used all of those players in those positions and has used 4 attacking players in the front four roles before. So what did I do that was clueless...?
  15. I agree in the short term due to recent events, but I was just offering one potential XI if everyone (bar Forster) was fully fit.
  16. Are we? Rodriguez, Mane, Juanmi, Clasie, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, S.Davis and your favourite Ramirez can all play in variations of that role. Thats 8 players.
  17. Depends who we are playing.
  18. I mentioned it, because as most of the replies to this thread show... people will want to make changes to the one I suggested.
  19. The three behind Pelle all rotate during games and its only one option of many now available to Koeman.
  20. Why?
  21. We aren't going to play the same XI every week, its just one option of a line-up. Some good depth and options for Koeman.
  22. van Dijk signing, Wanyama staying, Bertrand/Clasie back from injury & Koeman's options are looking good. We aren't going to play the same XI every week, but one option would be... Plus... Keepers - Forster, Davis, Gazzaniga Defenders - Targett, Martina, Caulker, Yoshida, Gardos Midfielders - Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Davis, Reed Attacking players - Juanmi, Long, Ramirez
  23. Sega are paying them money to advertise their game.
  24. When Virgil van Dijk signs, Southampton since promotion in 2012 have spent over £174m on new player transfer/loan costs (not including agent fees, signing on fees or wages) plus £40m on improving the training ground. But the press think Liebherr is asset stripping, firesale etc. Yes, we've recouped a lot but the money is clearly being reinvested.
