  1. Fox and Puncheon going, makes little to no difference to the quality of the squad for the reasons I've already outlined. Yes, Osvaldo going does weaken us, but he hasn't really contributed that much to our season. The Osvaldo situation is down to his fight with Fonte, not cost cutting. Plus him going may improve morale and he hasn't actually gone yet. If we can't get a good replacement for Osvaldo in a few days they shouldn't rush and pay over the odds for a striker in the barmy January market. We'll be fine until the summer and can reassess things then.
  2. Fox didn't make the match day 18 anymore and when he did he was a liability at Premier League level. Puncheon hasn't played a single game for us this season. How are we weaker? The Osvaldo situation is down to his fight with Fonte, not cost cutting.
  3. We've already been through this nonsense with Barry Sanchez. The players that have left weren't really considered to be in the first team or of use by Pochettino. He said no player he wants to keep will leave in January and that still looks to be the case. Even if Osvaldo goes, that will still be a lot down to the Fonte incident. The club have merely shifted from the wage bill those players that weren't able to keep up with the progress of the club. many of them deserve thanks for helping Saints into the Premier League but why would they keep a player that isn't going to be of use for a top half Premier League team. Better to move them on for their own careers and free up money for Saints to strengthen in the summer. You are right, it is cost cutting. But its cost cutting for good reason, the players that have left offer no real benefit to a top half Premier League team and the money would be better spent elsewhere.
  4. A player is only "good back up" if he is capable of playing at the level his club are at, even if only coming on as a sub or when the 1st choice is injured/suspended. Jack Cork for example is a good central midfield back up for Victor Wanyama because Jack Cork is a good player at Premier League level. Danny Fox cannot play at Premier League level well and is a disaster waiting to happen whenever he is on the pitch so is not "good back up". Jos Hooiveld, like Danny Fox was also effective at Championship level, but as a backup for a Premier League team he is terrible. They just aren't capable of putting in good performances in the Premier League as their weaknesses are easily exploited by Premier League level opponents.
  5. So it was the latter of those three.
  6. I'm not sure what job he'd expect him to do, because I think he'd struggle to make an impact in the Premier League as a midfielder. Even more so than the role he's played for most of his career at left back.
  7. I said "same role", our tactics would be different with Ward-Prowse or Davis on the right compared with Puncheon.
  8. You think Fox should have been used in Rodriguez role? Because that is who Pochettino plays on the left.
  9. Neither of them play in the same role as Puncheon.
  10. Which Twitter account? Can range from a journalist, the player himself to a random person anywhere in the world.
  11. Why? Our last game had Shaw, Chambers, Lallana, Gallagher all start and Ward-Prowse came on as a sub. That is 4 players = 36% of team or 40% of outfield players One more player = 45% of team or 50% of outfield players Two more players = 55% of team or 60% of outfield players Why is it so hard to believe we couldn't have 1 or 2 more academy products in the starting line-up?
  12. Simon Peach ‏@SimonPeach7m #CPFC are set to complete the permanent signing of on-loan winger @punch_jason from #SaintsFC, Press Association Sport understands. Ed Malyon ‏@eaamalyon1h Palace to sign Puncheon permanently for £1.75m
  13. Is it? Burnley won't sell him in the middle of a promotion race for a place in the Premier League. If they don't get promoted, then the summer is the time for a club to buy him. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25944542
  14. Why? Chambers is a big improvement on Richardson, perhaps they think Targett will be an improvement on Fox.
  15. Cork and Ward-Prowse can play as fullbacks and have done so in games, as can Yoshida at a stretch. Not ideal, but they are still further options. As Fox wasn't making the match day 18, its not an attractive position for someone to replace. Perhaps they will promote from within from the development squad to take Fox's place in the first team squad.
  16. Chambers and Clyne are the cover for Shaw. Fox wasn't making the match day squad of 18.
  17. Why is it a shame? He did a great job for us in the Championship but that is his level.
  18. Pochettino said no player is going to leave that he doesn't want to leave. Bary Sanchez, as Capt. Edmund Blackadder once said in a telegram to Charlie Chaplin... "please, please, please, stop"
  19. None of those players have ever played for Fulham.
  20. If West Brom beat Villa they will have 25 points and will be 7 points below us. I think a draw is the best result to keep a gap between us and 10th.
  21. Live stream of the game, with kickoff at 7pm... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKpjlfuMqgo
  22. If he has been "proven to be mediocre", why is he wearing the number 9 shirt of one of Europe's biggest clubs?
  23. Something the player you suggested hasn't done at all (yet) and is completely unproven at a high level. You don't become Juventus' number 9 without having something about you.
  24. Vucinic is attempting to put the ball in the net of a goal defended by top flight players in Italy where as Ings is doing it in the Championship. I'm not dismissing Ings as he does look promising, but you can't really draw comparisons on goal record. Vucinic is an established player (although now out of favour) at one of Europe's top clubs and in a better league than Ings.
  25. Giroud would have had a harder time scoring that by attempting to outmuscle Lovren or Wanyama.
