  1. I must need a visit to Specsavers then, because I see nothing in here from the movement of the ball that suggests Brown touches it. Gaston touches it on just before he is clattered, Brown just lunges studs up straight into his leg. But then like you said, it is irrelevant if Brown touches the ball first as that is eclipsed as it was a reckless airborne lunge from behind and he was the last man.
  2. Its hard to take seriously any source that thinks a Crystal Palace side managed by Tony Pulis would... a) afford Gaston Ramirez's transfer fee and wages b) be of interest to Ramirez to join c) actually be interested in him considering he is the complete opposite of what Pulis looks for in a player
  3. Well you've failed to acknowledge those points that counter your view each time I've put it to you.
  4. Being last man and Ramirez was through on goal upgrades it to a red card, so does it being a reckless lunge from behind with both legs airborne so he can't possibly be in control.
  5. Even if he did touch the ball first (which I'm yet to see from any of the video footage)... So what? That doesn't make it not a foul, its a common misconception that touching the ball first makes it not a foul automatically. It was a tackle from behind, both his feet leave the ground and was reckless, plus he was the last man.

It was a tackle from behind, both his feet leave the ground and was reckless, plus he was the last man. Plus in anycase I don't think Brown does touch the ball, look at the gif earlier int he thread. It doesn't change direction as it would if he did touch it.
  7. 1) Are you denying it was a tackle from behind? 2) Are you denying Brown was the last man? 3) Are you denying both Brown's legs leave the ground, he was airborne and therefore reckless? 4) Can you honestly watch the video of it and see Brown touching the ball? (not that it actually makes much difference given the other factors)
  8. They were many yards away, I've seen close up footage of it.
  9. No I wouldn't, no matter who the player was (Saints or not) it is a clear red card for a number of offences. Both his feet leave the ground. How can he be "in control" if he is in an airborne lunge? It was reckless. - It was also a tackle from behind. - He also didn't touch the ball. - He was also the last man with Ramirez through on goal. All those things make it a clear red card.
  10. It was from behind and it was a reckless lunge. Those two alone make it a foul, plus he was the last man. It warranted a free kick and a red card either for the reckless nature of it and being the last man. Its a common misconception people have that they think a player touching the ball first makes a tackle automatically not a foul. That is simply not true. In any case I don't see that he did touch the ball first.
  11. Brown doesn't touch the ball first, but even if he did that doesn't take away it was both reckless, from behind and he was the last man. Its a clear red card.
  12. A reckless tackle from behind that could have snapped his leg in two and potentially ended his career! Its irrelevant if he got the ball first or not (a common misconception), it should have been red card. It was both reckless and was from behind. Yet Chris Foy didn't even give a foul and then seconds later Lovren was injured (which wouldn't have happened if we had a free kick for the Ramierez foul).
  13. The bottom 3 have 18 points from 22 games and you think they are going to getting roughly 20 points from the 16 remaining games? Plus those above them would also need to pick up their form in order for enough teams to get more than 37 points.

    Well

I don't think the Lovren injury is as bad as some people are making out. Jordan Sibley ‏@jordansibley13m An update on MP's post match comments: @DejanLovren05 hasn't gone to hospital, however @gasramirez10 has & is waiting for an x-ray #saintsfc
  15. Its a shame the Torquay vs Northampton game was postponed today. A win for Torquay would have put Pompey in the relegation zone.
  16. Its a shame the Torquay vs Northampton game was postponed today. A win for Torquay would have put Pompey in the relegation zone.
  17. Pompey 0 - Mansfield 1 Pompey currently 3rd bottom in live league table! I place and 1 point above the relegation zone to non league football. The fans trust are a bunch of deluded amateurs who haven't a clue what they are doing.
  18. If these rumours are true there may be a good explanation for this, but the dates don't seem to match up... - Sunseeker Yachts was bought on 19th June 2013 by the Dalian Wanda Group - Sunseeker's sponsorship deal with Saints was announced nearly a year before the Chinese takeover of Sunseeker on 24th August 2012.
  19. What have they said now?
  20. The latest accounts show... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21712482 We won't know the full details of the rest of the 2012/13 accounts until slightly later into 2014.
  21. I didn't manipulate them at all, we were discussing Pochettino's Premier League record in his 37 games and someone raised Meulensteen small sample of 8 Premier League games.
  22. Meulensteen comparable record is from a much smaller sample of only 8 games compared to Pochettino being one short of 38 games. Meulensteen in those 8 games is averaging 1.125 points per game compared with Pochettino's 1.324. Over 38 games that would be... - Meulensteen 42.75 points - Pochettino 50.3 points
  23. As Pochettino hasn't yet completed a full season, but is one game away from managing the club for 38 league games I don't see the problem looking at how many points he earnt in roughly one season as an indication as to how well he has done. Mr X and yourself are saying a win ratio of 32% isn't great, but that fails to consider that the draws he gained when added to those wins actually add up to a high number of points. To be dismissive of a win ratio of 32% win ratio and not take into account how points the manager has earnt is bizarre. - Over his entire 37 games he has enough points for roughly 8th place in a 38 game season (so a game in hand as well). - Over 21 games this season he has enough points for a position of 9th in the current table. That is not poor.
  24. If you look at Alex Ferguson's win ratio it would include over 50 league games vs Liverpool for example. Pochettino has earnt 49 points from 37 Premier League games, that is a good record. Bizarre to look at the 32% win rate in those 37 games and dismiss it as poor.
  25. Yes, he has earnt 49 points from his 37 Premier league games in charge of Southampton. I fail to see how that isn't good.
