As Krueger talked about monetizing the area, and it is land not currently owned by the club then that suggests it is the club rather than an external entity that will benefit from it. In which case it is the club that would be looking to buy the land and then build the hotel, offices, apartments, shops etc. Large initial outlay, but all provide income for many years to come. Other clubs have done similar and/or are looking to do similar on larger/smaller scales.

No I wasn't. I'd be happy with an expansion to the Kingland to 38k/39k/40k as a first stage and the club owning and developing the surrounding land like in that picture with hotels, apartments, shops etc. It would provide new revenue streams for the club and also improve a less than impressive area of the the city. It also raises the profile of the club, a development like this makes the club more attractive for commercial sponsorship. Something we are lagging behind in compared to those clubs above us.

Its not just about capacity, "monetizing area" is term used. You can see that from the AFL designs it is only the Kingland that has been expanded in capacity, a new facade on the outside of the stadium which has a larger footprint and a large amount of land developed surrounding the stadium. If the club owns all of that it could be a nice earner for them. It may only be an expansion to 38k or 40k, the club clearly aren't dismissing it as our current chairman has stated today.

Depends on your definition of "world class", but I'd say... Paul Scholes David Beckham Ashley Cole Steven Gerrard Alan Shearer Paul Gascoigne Were all at their peak world class, possibly some others as well.

Still in his mind of things to do and hasn't dismissed it. Even if expanded to 40k, its not just about those extra seats, a lot more to it than that which would increase revenue streams. Yes, we wouldn't sell out every game, but it increasing revenue and the profile of the club.

The AFL designed plans are about far more than just expanded capacity... In times of FFP, things like hotels, apartments, shops, conferencing/banqueting facilities all increase revenue to then be used on the team.

From 6:10 in the video he talks about the club's ambitions by stating... "There are areas, for example commercial where there is a gap from where we are today and where we need to be to sustain the level of play we want to sustain here." If we want to be higher than 9th, 8th, 7th we will need to close the gap commercially with other clubs in the Premier League.

I don't remember Cortese saying he wants us to be "unhealthy and unsustainable".

Yes, Forren was a mistake, but would you not agree Osvaldo, Wanyama and Lovren are all better players than merely relegation dogfighters? Osvaldo seemingly failed as a signing not because of his footballing ability, he isn't relegation team material quality. The scouting team I mentioned has also played a key role in taking the club from 68th in 2009 to 9th in England in 2014. Every club makes the odd recruitment mistake, but I think you should put some more trust in the club's recruitment structure than you seemingly currently do.

My point was more about him thinking we'd be in a "dog fight at the bottom of the league", see post above. I trust our scouting team from their previous record to find replacements that would mean losing Shaw and Lallana wouldn't result in a relegation battle as Charlie suggested, even if they weren't as good as Shaw/Lallana.
