And what did I say after that?... It is going from a 40 team top tier of youth football in 2011/12 to a 18 to 20 team top tier of youth football in 2012/13. There will be half the number of teams in the top tier, Saints will remain in the top tier. Can you not see how that benefits Saints?
-
Look at the local area, last season Saints and Pompey were both in the same academy league. Next season Saints will be in the category 1 league, Pompey in the category 3 league.
-
Category 1-4 didn't exist when Saints were in League 1. This is starting next season. Until now it has been a two tier system, 40 clubs are in the academy system (4 leagues of 10), the rest have centres of excellence.
-
Clubs have been spending in order to reach the cat 1 benchmark, EPPP has significantly raised spending in academies. Saints have gone over and above what is required and will be at the higher end of the cat 1 clubs. As I've said twice now, at the moment it is a 2 tier system with Saints in the top tier, it is becoming a 4 tier system with Saints in the top tier. Who said that? I certainly didn't.
-
I didn't say that at all! I said as things stand in the summer of 2011 only Man City, Chelsea and Southampton would be in line to get it. Since then other clubs have invested in order to achieve the status. Of course it was never going to be just 3 clubs. There is going to be a category one league, how could you have just 3 clubs in it? As I said a few posts ago, at the moment Saints are one of 40 academies in the top tier and below that centres of excellence in a two tier system. The new system with see Saints as one of 18 to 20 clubs in the top tier of a 4 tier system. Saints facilities put them towards the top of category one. They will see huge benefits from achieving cat 1 status compared to the current system.
-
Of course there was going to be a number of other cat 1 teams, if there wasn't Saints wouldn't have any teams to play against in the category one league. Who ever said it would be unique? Saints facilities and academy are still way ahead of a number of the other category one clubs and cat 1 status gives them huge advantages in recruitment. - At the moment there are 2 tiers in youth football - 40 Premier league academies in 4 leagues, below that are schools of excellence leagues. - The new system will see Saints as one of a max of 20 clubs in the top tier of a 4 tier system. So of course that is better than how things currently stand in terms of benefits for Saints.

20 goals last season would make you the Championship's 3rd top scorer. He had 15 on Christmas day 2006. -
Every two years.
-
Bob Beech looks like he's had a few rough nights on a Southsea park bench and is in awe of Mick Williams. Trevor Birch on the other hand doesn't look comfortable having to deal with these amateurs.

You said Hooiveld only played "half a season" yet managed nearly as many goals as Guly, I pointed out he played in 85% (39 out of 46 games) of Saints Championship games. He actually started more games than Guly Do Prado last season. Is that "half a season" as you said? Plus as I also said Hooiveld's goals were also a very different type of goal to that of Guly - a centre back coming up for set pieces type goals. -

"Half a season" Really? Jos Hoovield played in 39 out of the 46 Championship games for Saints. They were also a very different type of goal to that of Guly - a centre back coming up for set pieces type goals. -

He was "awful in the Championship", yet managed to score 10 league goals and make 7 assists? -
There won't be a court case, Green doesn't have a leg to stand on.
-
Yes

I didn't misquote you, I didn't use quotation marks so I can't have misquoted you. You just misunderstood what I said. In any case, why are you trying to argue against there being 38 game s in a Premier League season? There are 38 games in a Premier League season. So what is the issue? Have I ever made a personal insult against you, sworn or tried to belittle autism? I think I can comfortably take the high ground whenever I debate with you. I say debate in its loosest terms because you seem to always want to turn it into a slanging match. If I'm autistic, which condition could you be "labelled" and belittled with? It rather takes away from anything sensible you might be saying if the only way you can debate is a constant stream of expletives and insults.
-
Green wasn't playing top flight football. What about Butland? Not a single game above the 4th tier. If we are talking just about attacking midfielders, why bring up Holt? You really now contradicting yourself and also not helping your case by making petty insult after petty insult.
-
Can you see quotation marks saying you said the entire thing? There really wasn't the need given I mentioned you said 15-20 goals and then all I did is add 38 league games in the Premier League. Yet again... continuing with your debating technique of petty personal insults. Really mature...
-
Rob Green was playing Championship football last season. Yes, he had previous caps but goes against your theory. Even more so with Jack Butland, called up for experience, but even still he hasn't played a single game above the 4th tier. Continuing with your debating technique of petty personal insults. Really mature...
-
Contradicting yourself now, first you say Lallana needs to score 15-20 goals to make the England squad. Then you say Holt scored more than Defoe and Carroll and even that didn't get him a spot. We should be comparing him to midfielders, Downing did nothing last season, no goals, no assists. "Computer games", what does that have to do with it? Just more petty insults. Lallana offers more than Milner and Downing in my opinion going forward. Like Lallana neither of them have great pace (particularly Milner).
-
I didn't say you did mention 38 games, I quoted your "15 - 20 goal" claim and merely added the 38 games as that is the max number of league games Lallana can play next season. Back to the petty insults again I see.
-
Holt is a striker. You are the one that said Lallana would have to score 15 - 20 goals from a max of 38 games.
-
Absolute nonsense. Downing went to Euro 2012 and he didn't score a single goal or make a single assist last season, yet you think Lallana would have to score 15-20 goals from midfield in 38 games to get in the England squad. Rooney was the only Englishman to score more than 15 goals last season and he is a striker.

We also have no need for him. -
Pompey sign three new professionals - (promoted from the youth team which is what they should be doing) http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Isle-of-Wight-Trio-Sign-Deals-3494.aspx However...! Andy Awford says... "We’re not giving these lads first team football" Why not? They are 18 years old, why can't they play League One football in the Pompey first team when the club is currently in admin and has huge debts? Oh yeah, it is because of things like wanting to do this whilst in admin... http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/appleton-wants-football-league-talks-over-recruitment-power-1-3977721
