Saints would have had to "clear" their kits with the football authorities. They clearly see no problems and are happy for Saints to have only two kits. Although some clubs have not revealed publicly their kits for next season, the authorities would have seen them by this stage.

There really isn't that much red on the kit at all, certainly not enough to clash with the examples I posted. Games have gone ahead in the past with teams in slightly different shades of blue. Saints aren't releasing a 3rd kit, so what do you think is going to happen when we play Stoke and Sunderland?

Why is it not a good example? There is clearly no clash there even if you remove the blue on the Bolton kit. The red is very prominent on Stoke and Sunderland kits.

For those that think Saints can't wear a white away kit against Sunderland and Stoke...

A new look for St Mary's this season with some more large photos... This one is particularly interesting. Academy player James Ward-Prowse, born in Portsmouth, a former season ticket holder at Fratton Park, now converted and a large photo of him on our stadium kissing our badge... Will the Portsmouth News run a story about Ward-Prowse if he plays for England like they did with Oxlade-Chamberlain?

I said "a pretty much all white Saints away kit", I did not say "an all white Saints away kit".

I've seen a number of people bring this up, I don't think it'll be an issue. Red is the dominate colour on the Stoke City and Sunderland home shirts, I don't think a pretty much all white Saints away kit will clash with either. With Stoke having white shorts and socks, Saints can use the red home shorts/socks with the away shirt for the game at the Britannia Stadium and the all white kit at the Stadium of Light.

Saints crop of good youngsters are largely in the England age groups just below this. A number of them have had England recognition (Ward-Prowse, Shaw, Chambers, Stephens and Mugabi). This under 19 England team just happens to coincide with a poor year for Saints, perhaps partly influenced by them coming through at a time when the club was struggling for cash.

Leeds only started wearing an all white kit in the 1960's because Don Revie wanted them to look like Real Madrid wannabes.

Why only include your adult years? So as a child you would have grown up starting to love Saints and they didn't play in stripes. It was only as an adult that they started to again.

We didn't have a standard red and white striped kit for the entire 1980's. Which included the most successful period in the clubs league history.
