That's simple... Blackpool will be less of a threat to Saints in the transfer market and probably less of a threat in the league than West Ham. Plus it would be funny to see Gold/Sullivan/Brady/West Ham spending another year in the Championship.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

If my posts trouble you that much, why haven't you put me on your ignore list? But your countering me at every opportunity isn't equally annoying? I can see why my posts may bore people, but you seem to forget there are a number of people that agree (at least in part) with me, the same as some side with your views. Why should you be allowed to express your views on Saints potential and it not be challenged, yet I have to be silenced?

You could say that about the majority of construction sites and road works. At least the buildings in this photo in front of the training dome no longer exist...

Cannes, Hollywood or Leicester Square?

Given he went on strike in 2007 in order to engineer a move away from St Mary's, I hope not. -
You have me beat there.

The new build will help achieve category one academy status, which will be vital in youth team recruitment and give Saints an edge over many rival clubs.
-
Certainly needs a mod to change the title as it lacks anything remotely like evidence atm. Very misleading.

Go on, give it a go.

They aren't allowed to under new financial regulations. As I have repeatedly said, my comment was relative to the league they are in. A comparison to the Saints squad won't be relevant until either August 18th or August 31st.
-
Because if you hadn't noticed they have racked up huge debts of over £100m and Randy Lerner is going down the Rupert Lowe downward spiral of throwing kids into the team early.
-
You seem incapable of a debate as you seem to think petty personal insults are a substitute to answering questions posed to you from someone that has a different opinion to that of your own.
-
- Saints' 16 (or 18 as it will next season) will be different to that of today. - Villa on the other hand have just had a season in the Premier League with their squad and finished 16th. As I said my "poor squad" comment was relative to that of the league they were playing in, not a comparison with the Saints squad. Saints haven't had the opportunity yet to build a Premier League squad. If anything Villa will only get weaker this summer due to their money problems.
-
If you hadn't noticed, Saints haven't been in the Premier League for 7 years. So it is as close to a like for like comparison as is possible.
-
Relative to the league it has been competing in it is a poor squad and is likely to get worse as the summer progresses as they make cut backs. Saints on the other hand have only just entered the league, have gained access to Premier League levels of income and are in a far stronger position to strengthen in the summer.

It makes perfect sense in the context of the post it was responding to. Closer to 27k actually, whilst in the Championship. Compared to Villa's 33k in the world's most high profile league with larger number's of away fans boosted the average. It may well be boring. But then so is taking a counter to my points and then refusing to justify them and resort to personal insults like CB Fry continues to do. It isn't contradictory or irrelevant though. What examples can you give of me doing either of those things?

Is it August yet?

Yes, but there is only so much he could have done. Plus, we haven't seen what he can do with Saints in the Premier League yet. Unlike at Villa he won't be held back by over £100 million worth of debt.
-
I think you have overestimated them (living off their past reputations) and are underestimating Saints. The Villa squad is poor, as the Premier League table this season demonstrates.
-
- Saints averaged, 30,610 in a 32,689 capacity stadium in the season they came 20th and were relegated. - Aston Villa averaged 33k in a 42k stadium in a season they came 16th and stayed up. Had Saints had a 42k stadium in the relegation season, it is likely they would have averaged over or at least very close to the 33k Villa had this year as many games sold out in 2004/05 and the extra numbers would have fitted into a 42k stadium and boosted the average.
-
Wrong... Pardew left when Saints were 14th and it was after 3 games. Not an entire season.
-
Because I can't see a single factor that makes Lerner seem better. He has led them to huge debts of over £100m, crowds of 33k in a 42k stadium and a relegation fight.
