Just signed a five year deal with Chelsea last week. So unlikely to be available as buy…….

Not sure if it has been mentioned on here or not, but a couple of the papers claim we are in for Ryan Christie from Celtic, but face competition from Burnley. The fee could be as low as £5m…..!

I still have very happy memories of my one and only visit to Old Trafford in the late 80’s, when two Man U supporting friends offered me a trip up there with them. Saints won 2-0, with Colin Clarke getting both goals. You can imagine all the ManU bragging on the way up there from Somerset..! The return journey was very different, I nearly had to walk home….!

TBF who would have thought 2 years ago that we would sell him on for a profit. Very surprised if he plays in half of Villa’s games over the next three years. Only a three year contract too, I thought we had offered him a 4 year deal…….!

Say if Chelsea activate the buy back clause and he doesn’t want to go to Chelsea, I don’t see how they can force him in these days of freedom of movement, post Bosman…….? After all he has just rather publicly said he doesn’t see his future at Chelsea……! Who knows in 5 years time Abrahamovic may have lost his fortune….

Not to worry though, I would imagine half of Chelsea’s accademy would be beating a path to Fratton Park and begging to join the bestest……

Well if the buy back clause is about £35m, it will at least pay back half of that loan in 3 or 4 years time……..😀

If we sell him for 20m, we only pocket about 16m after Liverpool have taken there cut…….I don’t see anyone offering Ings a mega bucks four year contract as an injury prone 30 year old. Highly unlikely if he’d accepted Saints offer would we have got 4 seasons of 15 to 20 goals worth out of him…….

If Saints are considering paying £6.5m for a season of Brandon Williams as a back up, 20m for a season of Ings as a regular starter seems like a bargain……! I wonder how many teams will be willing to offer Ings a 4 year contract next summer…….?

Maybe we’ve being trying to persuade them to lower their demands, and they won’t budge. Walk away. As has already been discussed it’s beneficial to them too, from the developmental aspect…..

It all depends how desperate the buying club is, or how many suitors there are….

Only having a year left on a contract should only be a disadvantage if there is only one suitor. If say both Tottenham and Man City decide Ing’s is the man for them, the highest bid gets.....
