This shows it well http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html?tableView=homeAwayTotalComparison We've won 3 of our last 6 away games and only lost once We've won 1 in our last 6 at home (although that did include Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs) Overall we are unbeaten in 6. Looks like if we could maintain our away form next season and win more home games we would be genuinely threatening 5/6 place? We can't win 'every game' but 3 points at home from Sunderland, West Ham, Villa and Stoke is a disappointing return in anyone's book, if we'd won any one of those 4 winnable games we would now be sitting at worst in equal 7th with Man U. Good stuff.

Don't think anyone is saying that he is better than Lovren/Fonte are they? He is third choice for a reason. What people are saying is that he has come in and done well, which he very much has. Perfectly good back up and as people have said CBs need a couple of games to get the partnership going. Not sure we will get a better third choice CB? We might sign a new starter to play with Lovren but I can't see Fonte wanting to drop to the bench at this stage of his career and after the form he's showed this season.

Commercialisation and the impact on Saints Fans

Think you might get more/better feedback face-to-face with 10 or 15 'interviews'? I had a look at the questionnaire but I didn't complete it, sorry. Lots of closed questions to which I had mainly open answers! What are you studying out of interest? -
Done, not sure what my answers tell you but you can only answer the questions put in front of you. Guess you need to find loads of 20-somethings who buy loads of tkts to sold-out events via social media? Interesting proposition though, please come back and post up your conclusions.

Not sure we could easily sign a CB that would displace Fonte or improve the team? We could certainly do with strengthening here squad-wise but not sure new man would be a guaranteed improvement or that the Lovren/Fonte combo has been a source of weakness this season? Much bigger priorities for me would be a top GK and a really consistent, pacey striker; if we had been able to field a top line GK every game this season, Yoshi had played instead of Hoiveld where needed (weird decision?) and Osvaldo had scored 20 goals we could have been top-6 this season.

This so needs to happen but not sure it will! We say this every World Cup and they still seem to cling on till the next one, Glenn Johnson is another one. Blank piece of paper .... Shaw, Cork and Lallana to start plus 8 others ... JRod and Clyne in the squad ... won't happen but it probably should.

Was going to say David Armstrong but Wiki has him down for 1 or 2 apps while with Saints. Would love to have seen Deano play for England, was top drawer in his time for us.

Where's the MOTD theme? Have we just watched history (or have I just been massively whooshed?)
-
Shane Long, occasional worldie scorer or half decent Prem striker?
-
Saints third goal class (first time I've seen it).
-
Where's the9 when we need him?

Fulham and Cardiff will be bottom two. Would like to say West Ham but have a feeling it could be Swansea.

Stoke (h) draw 2-2 Hull (a) draw 0-0 West ham (a) win 0-2 Liverpool (h) lose 1-2 Palace (a) draw 1-1 Norwich (h) win 4-1 Spurs (a) lose 2-3 Newcastle (h) win 3-1 Hard set of games to call, almost everybody else has got more to play for, looks like 8 draws to me but obviously it won't be, they could be almost anything!

Shoo-in for the starting X1, if he maintains form and fitness he could play for England for the next 4-5 years.

7 out of 8 this time, 6 out of 8 in the previous round, that's 13 correct results in the last 16, picked in two 8 game blocks. If you guys want any tips on football betting you know where to come;) Somebody type out the next 8 games and we can do it all again.....

Would you change positons with Sunderland?
sandwichsaint replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Saints
I'd take Tuesday night over pretty much anything, not sure it's an 'either/or' question is it? We still in the FA Cup, I reckon our future is about 100x brighter than theirs, so no I wouldn't swap. We are well on the way to being the best-of-the-rest and we are competitive and stand a chance of winning in pretty much every game we play now (bar Chelsea!). Reckon with the right draws we are a decent bet for one of the cups next season. -
Always a problem that one, my nipper took his GF to her first ever game couple of years ago, Ipswich 2 Saints 5! Saints were just simply awesome that night and in the first half it was like watching MOTD highlights with the goals raining in - we had to tell her watching Saints wasn't always like that (TBF the last few seasons there's been quite a bit like that!)

Brilliant night and so proud of the team, Arsenal were poor? I'm not having that! We were just simply sublime for 45 minutes, we made them look so ordinary, as Poch said it was almost total football at times with the players improvising and interchanging positions with great discipline and understanding, we just seem to have so much team spirit and mental strength now it's hard to believe it's Saints we are watching. In days of yore we would have folded at 1-2 and let the oppo play out for the win, not anymore. Stunning performances all round, Cork probably shaded it for me and on this form he must be close to the England re-build post the World-Cup? MS also back to his very best and if he can maintain that sort of form he will be a massive part in the final third of the season. Gallagher was excellent lots of pace and movement, and never hid at all, always looking for it and linked up well when he could, he didn't look out of place at all. Not read all the thread but I thought Fonte and Yoshi had very sound games, the odd streaky moment but on the whole they complemented each other well. Shaw's best game for some time too he really does look like the next Bale when he's rampaging down the left, he terrorised Sagna all night, interesting to see if he stays as a LB or moves further forward next season. Chambers had probably his best game for Saints last night, I'm a huge Clyne fan and I think he currently shades it in attack and certainly in defence with his recovery pace and his one-on-one defending and tackling, but fair play to MoPo for playing Chambers last night, big call and it paid off for him. Worse case if Shaw goes is that we end up with Clyne at LB and Chambers at RB, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. If we can make the 'right' big-money buys then we have the nucleus of a squad that can challenge at the highest level over the coming seasons, happy days! Any comments on the clash between Shaw and Sagna in front of the dugouts? I was a long way away but it looked potentially a red card? Boruc threw out a high 50-50 hospital ball, Shaw was always in position to receive it, did jump bravely and played it, battered by Sagna who had no chance of playing the ball fairly and who seemed to lead with his arm/elbow (?), Shaw was flattened and Sagna tactically rolled himself off the pitch and out of the ref's way, astonished not to see at least at least a yellow card, it looked late and it looked dangerous from where I was? PS Thought the ref had an excellent game, he didn't fall for their diving and whinging at all and played some really good stuff (for both teams). 10/10, can we have you every week?

Molde old dough? One for the older listeners there.

Maybe they were Nicola 'everyone pays' Cortese's spares? (probably not but we haven't had a good conspiracy theory for 24 hours).

Big call - 'feeder club' v 'the project'. £££££££'s - money talks, always. (luckily we seem to have a conveyor belt of talent at Staplewood though the sale of any one of our top boys would absolutely weaken the whole edifice).
