I didn't renew and have only seen Liverpool and Swansea! Sympathies to you.

He would have known it was the wrong decision when the defender and JW-P both turned to move back up field for a goal kick (assuming he saw that and hadn't turned his back to run to the corner of the box ready for the corner).

Southampton the 4th crappest town in the UK

Take it you've never been to Margate, Dover, Folkestone, Hastings? Parts of Margate and Folkestone have some of the most deprived post codes in the UK and Dover is just grim, grim, grim. Genuine contenders for the top 10 never mind the top 50. Sandwich, Deal and Canterbury are all very nice though, cheek by jowl and all that. -
Thank goodness they didn't score from that quick break, good thinking by them but it would have left Mr Dean with some higher-level levelling-up to consider. I was surprised he allowed the quick free kick with half the Saints players heading for the corner flag!
-
Dean's 'original' mistake was in giving the corner a fraction too quickly. He couldn't have definitively seen if it was a corner or not (due to the position of the two players and the unusual bounce of the ball), neither lino could help him; sometimes (very rarely) you have to give it on your gut instinct. If he had waited for a split second longer he would have seen the Swansea player turn away upfield for a goal kick, similarly JW-P turned and started to head back into a defensive position. He would have known at that time that he had almost certainly got it wrong by the reaction of the two players, he is then in the difficult position of how to reverse a decision he has made in good faith. Given that he was then instantly surrounded by angry Swansea players it is hard to reverse the decision without appearing to back down to mob rule. Standing by an incorrect decision and then 'levelling up' is probably the way to go - interesting point above that Saints players didn't complain though there was clearly no foul.

Be honest! I still think he did the right thing (easy to say when you win 2-0!) I would be pretty miffed if we lost a game like this, so you'd have to say you wouldn't want to win like that either. At the end of the day, we don't actually have any influence on these decisions, only opinions. Guess you have to just take the rough with the smooth and hope it evens out. I'm not a big Mike Dean fan but i thought he was decent yesterday

LOL! Phoned my nipper walking out after the game and he was ranting having watched it on the stream - he said what di4k does that? I said I did it on Saturday, hockey umpiring I gave a short corner decision, in good faith, which with hindsight was 99% wrong, the game had moved on from a position where I could easily reverse the decision; as soon as the ball was with the attacking team I gave a phantom decision to the defence, job done. Not ideal but 100 times better than compounding your original mistake with a goal. I thought he did the right thing, I would be pretty ****ed if we were to concede a winning goal later in the season in those sort of circumstances.

I had a pie yesterday, it was excellent. (I was out from 8-30 am to 7-00 pm and it was all I had all day so I'm allowed to eat at the football).

We went to the Brecon Beacons for our team building, goin back 25 years here. Two teams parked their mini buses in two different locations and had to converge at the top of the mountain (then work together) to solve the challenge. Two teams trudged up the mountain for 2 hours and then we met up - I was sort of leading our team (by default),their leader 'We've looked at the maps ('OK'), and we've got a plan ('OK'), we think you need to go back down and move your minibus to 670 301 and then come back up'. Me 'F++k off', it all kicks off at the top of the mountain (two teams of grown men fighting over a buried Mars bar). ..... we laughed about it in the bar later but I can't recommend the Brecon Beacons if you want harmony and a quiet awayday.

Clyne and Chambers at FB? Not ideal, maybe 4-3-3 if we are deprived of our flying wing backs? .............Arthur ............ Chambers Usual Usual Patsy ......MS ......VW ......... JC ....... ......JR ..... DO ........ AL .......... Keep it tight, don't give Swansea room to play between us, control the midfield, those front three have a goal in them, keep Swansea honest, 1-0 It won't be pretty but whoever said finishing top 6 would be pretty? COYRs!

Want one, not so keen on the navy blue knickers though.

I quite like it but it's all a bit random, which is of course part of the attraction. Maybe this Jedanak guy represents a particular country? I don't really know anything about him. Maybe a design with club names / ground names / nicknames and reaching down into the non-league would have been better? Maybe I've got too much time on my hands?

Alan Hansen? Hardly a pivotal figure in 150 years of football is he?

Add Lovren for Golac (diff position I know) but both out of the same top-draw and cult-hero status already looks nailed-on for Lovren too. -
Worst player in the Prem? Don't exactly know but Guffran must come close?
-
Any one read his autobiog? Top read and right up with some of the very best sports books.
-
Fair play if they did but ..... Fulham went from Lge 1 to top 4 in the Prem in three years? And the week when they arrived in the top 4, 50% of their match-day squad were players or youth players who had come up from Lge 1?? Not sure about that???
-
Awesome, not sure this will ever be repeated (or has ever been done before?)

Post Match Reaction & MotM: SAINTS 2-0 Crystal Palace
sandwichsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Dipped out there, I called it 2-0 Osvaldo and Lambert in the build-up thread! Who ever would have thought that moving into a CL spot could be so straightfd? Palace poor and we did enough, hopefully it will be be a better spectacle against Swansea next week, a much more realistic test of where we are at the moment. -
Get in, Os off and running!
-
Cork and Ramirez for Wanyama and SRL?
-
We're labouring somewhat, ball seems to take a long time to go from back to front? Palace have surprised me, not really parked the bus and quite happy to have a go when they can. Disappointing so far. Sticking with 2-0 , based on what I'm not sure!

He scores when he wants He scores when he wants Dani Osvaldo He scores when he wants.
-
Sounds like a fit and proper person to me (tho I probably wouldn't tell him he wasn't to his face).
