  1. Fair play to you.
  2. That average doesn't seem so bad with some games available at less than £30 (tho that does include two of the sides likely to go down). When you consider this year's away games have been generally £25-£30 it looks like you could still see half a dozen games for similar prices to this year. Looks like you could see another half dozen games for plus £5, and you are looking at perhaps plus £10-£15 for the big boys. Not so bad for a single person when you look at it like that but if you are buying for a pair of for family it certainly starts clocking up - I guess the 'main' costs for most people will remain transport costs, either public transport or a tank of fuel.
  3. Not really given it much thought. I will go when I'm available (Sept, Xmas, most midweeks, from March onwards), when I've got the funds (not usually a problem), and when I've got someone to go with (ditto). Much like now in fact; I go to watch Saints and I'm not really that bothered who the oppo are. If it fits in I'd quite like to go to: Norwich, Swansea, Man City, Liverpool, WBA is usually good, I haven't been to Craven Cottage. Not really fussed about Man U, Chelsea, Spuds, Arsenal, Villa, Blackburn, Bolton. Probably won't get as far as Newcastle or Sunderland. If there's a real choice I'd like to have Premier league home games and League One away games please.
  4. I thought Fonte was excellent today, a bit inconsistent the first half of the season but he has been to his swaggering best in the last few games - bang in form at just the right time.
  5. Bl00dy JCLs - first dibs should have gone to the 3000 who went to the League Cup game there, meaningless reserve team, mid-week away game and I bet 500 of those people won't get tkts for the main event.
  6. So has it cost nearer to £50m or nearer to 'nothing'?
  7. So how much has it 'cost' to put the club (nearly) back in the Premiership? I can remember when we stood on the brink and I said that it would take '50 million' to put us back in the Prem. I was shouted down by those that said it could be done for 'nothing' - just buy 'free' transfers (what are they?), get a decent manager (that's free isn't it?), and rebuild on a break-even basis. No arguing that we are nearly there but what has it all cost? To buy the club, to pay off the debt, to consistently recruit and pay the best players available, to have those players on performance-related long-term contracts, to have two of the best managers available, to employ the levels of off-field sports science that we do, to rebuild the training facilities and academy to Premier League standard, to maintain a Premier League stadium and so it goes on. On the income side we have been fortunate to have strong crowds paying decent prices, lots of TV appearances, good cup draws, and a cup run to a Wembley final. So, what has it cost to take Saints from tyre-kicking, monkey-petting chancers to a (hopefully) sustainable PL club? Fortunately we have accomplished it in 3 years, rather than 5, but I'd still like to think it has cost nearer to £50m than nothing.
  8. Is this right? If WH beat Reading they could reach 95, Reading would be capped on 91, we would need 16 points for second (assuming our GD stays superior). If Reading beat WH they can reach 94, WH would be capped on 92, we would need 17 points (+GD). If WH/Reading draw they can reach 93+92, we would need 17 points +GD. If Saints and WH beat Reading, Reading are capped at 88, we would need 13 points (+GD) Worse case is that 6 wins guarantees us promotion: all of the above assumes Reading and WH win all their remaining games, unlikely on current form and looking at their remaining games. We would have a reasonable chance of second with another four wins .... but who's looking at second now!
  9. Row, row, row the boat Gently down the stream Merrily, merrily, Merrily, merrily Life is but a dream. Get the f-e-c-k in there!!! COYRs!!! RAWM !!!! WIFM !!!!!
  10. Could we physically get 'lots more publicity'? The last two years barely a week seems to go by without a decent Saints feature somewhere in the broadcast or print media. Chuck in the number of times we will have been on Sky this year (did I see somebody post 9 times somewhere the other day?). We are often the lead match or have a mini-feature on the FL show. We have to wade through pages of this stuff everyday - Saints player also needs a real commitment if anybody wants to watch everything on there. There's also pages of stuff on the OS. (Forgot .... going to games as well!) I'm not sure we need 'more' media coverage? I struggle to keep up with half of it now and I quite like where we are positioned - we come over as smart, professional, well run, and actually look like a proper football club; if that means we are also under a few people's radar then that's no problem either.
  11. job done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! breathe ....................
  12. have leeds scored? not showing on bbc.
  13. I loved Frank Worthington at Saints, always said his warm-up was worth the admission fee alone.
  14. Anybody on here been to Benecassim? My nipper went last year and met a bunch of (Saints) shirters. Anybody on here owning up to this?
  15. Channon Strikes Faster than British Leyland
  16. Why would they? Isn't it the 'normal procedure' that this sort of thing is attended by the nominees etc? The 'problems' seem to have been caused by the damn fool ridiculous nomination of Cheats FC for any sort of award (let alone a 'community' based one) and then compounded by our super-douper, down-with-the-kids, social media spokesperson who seems to have over-blurred the boundaries between the personal and the proffessional. Two wrongs don't usually make a right and in this case maybe we all just better move on? Lord knows there's enough carp we fans can legitimately throw at them (and we do every day, that's cos we're fans and it's banter) without the 'official' club's spokesperson getting down in the gutter with them; I should imagine Mr Twibley had rather a red face this morning.
  17. Normal TO number 0800, hold on the music, you will either get bounced off in c15 minutes or you will get through. TBF it takes at least 5-7 mins to process every customer, their systems are v slow and it took them at least 2 mins to get my card payment processed.
  18. we got through at 11-00. asked the operator and she said some blocks were sold out, got what we wanted, back of 38. with that funny business with STs only having a two-day window i get the impression that everyone who has got a Donny tkt will get one today or tomorrow.
  19. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/03/11/richborough-power-station-destroyed_n_1337371.html down in 20 seconds, much bigger crowds than anyone was anticipating, cultural vandalism in my view, will just have to get used to not seeing them when out and about on the bike.
  20. I hope they were suitably impressed, with the surroundings (not with yourself!)
  21. It's Millwall next Saturday!
  22. Wasn't it 'wrong' when Google wanted all this data? Anyway I digress, another '50' here, Saints born and bred, mum and dad from Warsash area, grandparents and great-grandparents were Saints fans which makes me fourth generation and my boys 23 and 21 fifth generation. First game home v Sheff Weds spring 1967 (1-1), we lived in the midlands at that time and our dad used to take us to away games at Wolves, WBA, Stoke, Coventry etc, first away game would prob have been Wolves the next season. Lived Netley from 1970-1977 (Hamble school) before moving to East Kent in a sort of player-swap deal that saw my Grandparents retire back to Warsash. Our Saints supporting (not following) dropped from prob 15 games a season to occasional London aways and a very rare foray to the Dell. I got back into it with the boys first game aged 6 and 4 away at Highbury (the game where Berkcamp took us to pieces). Boys were hooked from day one and we've never looked back. We've done 12-15 games a season mix of H and A pretty much since we've been at SMS, the most games we've done is probably the JPT season when we did 20-plus. Biggest games would be Cardiff and JPT and the 76 semi, 'best' games Channon testomonial and Derby away in the play-offs. I consider myself to have been blessed to have been born a Saint and I've seen some fantastic players down the years; best of all we have potentially our best years in front of us! Only wished I lived a bit nearer!
  23. I couldn't claim to be any great shakes at history but am i right in thinking that Afghanistan have never been beaten at home?
