Would you sign Papa Waigo N'Diaye on a permanent basis?
sambosa75 replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Pace to burn and his goal scoring record isnt half bad either. Yes his reading of the offside rule is practically non-existant but imagine how dangerous he could be once he learns to time his runs on a consistent basis. There are no players as quick as him in League 1 or in the Championship IMO. He can offer us something very different for at least the next two years and hopefully by then would have improved in to a competent premier league striker. -
You are a big posh sod with plums in your mouth... and you feed beefburgers to swans.

I'm a big fan of Marcus Brig Stock.

If ever there was proof not to mock the Aussies at cricket until the test was over than this is it.

Nice one. This is now installed as my ring tone for my desk phone in my office. The office is full of Gooners who all see Rickie Lambert as a bit of a cult hero after showing them his goals every week.

Thought it was a little strange to have 3 weeks between the two legs. Great news for me.

Pompey issued with winding up petition...
sambosa75 replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in General Sports
I hope the skates survive but I hope their debts cripple them to the point they now fall through the leagues or even get expelled from the football league and have to rebuild from BSP. It was only a few months ago people on here were cooing at what a great job Peter Storrie was doing. I've more or less admitted now that Lowe made a lot of wrong moves to put us in the mess we found ourselves in last year but at least he had the decency to put us in administration rather than totally bury his head in the sand. Good luck Pompey, I hope you survive. I hope going for broke and winning the FA Cup was worth the total free-fall I think you are about to experience. -
Red Lion is by far the best shout.

I dont care what competition this is. I dont care what opposition we have had to play. The fact is we are 1 two-legged tie away from a day out at Wembley against a team we have already played and beaten convincingly. Imagine 30-odd thousand Saints fans at Wembley cheering the boys on!!!

Reckon sky sports news will cover the pen shoot out??

Get in there come on saints!!!!!!!!!

In fairness I woouldnt want it dropping to Wayne Rooney either. He is so over-rated it is unreal. Decent player but not amongst the worlds best. Jermaine Defoe is a more potent finisher than Owen and has more pace.

I'm assuming you mean Harper. He is without any shadow of doubt better than Paul Robinson, Carson, Foster, Kirkland and Green. I think he's better than James also. It doesnt matter what level you are playing at, you still need to make saves and communicate with your defenders and he is probably making more saves per match than anyone thats been tried so far. I'd also wager he's kept more clean sheets as well. Lets face it, he's been living in the shadow of one of the best goalkeepers the modern game has ever seen until about a year ago but he is a class act and now he has the number 1 jersey at Newcastle he has proved himself as a top, top draw goalkeeper.

Probably the best thread for this rather than the one in the lounge... GK - Steve Harper (how he's not had a cap is beyond me, he is Englands best 'keeper bar none at the moment) GK - David James GK - Rob Green (best of a very bad bunch from Carson, Foster, Kirkland, Robinson etc..) RB - Glen Johnson RB - Wes Brown CB - Rio Ferdinand CB - John Terry CB - Matthew Upson CB - Joleon Lescott LB - Ashley Cole LB - Wayne Bridge MR - Aaron Lennon MR - David Beckham CM - Steven Gerrard CM - Frank Lampard CM - Gareth Barry LM - Joe Cole LM - James Milner ST - Wayne Rooney ST - Jermaine Defoe ST - Peter Crouch ST - Theo Walcott ST - Emile Heskey Standby - Paul Robinson, Phil Jagielka, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young, Michael Owen

Think it would be interesting to do this again a few months after I did it originally... GK - Steve Harper (how he's not had a cap is beyond me, he is Englands best 'keeper bar none at the moment) GK - David James GK - Rob Green (best of a very bad bunch from Carson, Foster, Kirkland, Robinson etc..) RB - Glen Johnson RB - Wes Brown CB - Rio Ferdinand CB - John Terry CB - Matthew Upson CB - Joleon Lescott LB - Ashley Cole LB - Wayne Bridge MR - Aaron Lennon MR - David Beckham CM - Steven Gerrard CM - Frank Lampard CM - Gareth Barry LM - Joe Cole LM - James Milner ST - Wayne Rooney ST - Jermaine Defoe ST - Peter Crouch ST - Theo Walcott ST - Emile Heskey Standby - Paul Robinson, Phil Jagielka, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young, Michael Owen

Saints V Wycombe Wanderers - First half and half-time chat.
sambosa75 replied to Griffo's topic in The Saints
Isnt the lad presenting Sky Sports News tonight a Saints fan? Nice one Rickie. -
The first could be Kelv. Maybe he played once for Wimbledon and Ipswich before playing in the Prem for Sunderland. I'd say after we beat Burley away last season.

Can anyone confirm if Hammond has got the armband tonight??

Could do a lot worse than getting Hart in to head up our academy. As for their manager I really couldnt care less. Their hands are going to be tied whoever it is. Part of me hopes its not Darren Ferguson because a position like this could ruin him forever and he showed a lot of promise.

South World Cup bid 2018 Portsmouth City turn it down.
sambosa75 replied to derry's topic in General Sports
Presumably this would mean actually hosting some games as well? In that case we are in by far the strongest position of all the southern club outside London. Instead of actually having to build a stadium anywhere else, all we require is an extra 8,000-10,000 seats to become eligible. I seem to remember reading after the fans forum Cortese saying the minute Pompey pull out we'll be ready to step in. Wouldnt it be great so see some World Cup games at St Marys? As for not winning the bid, I think we have as good a chance as any. If its in Europe, it will be us I think. -
Mardle was once in the Halfway Inn in Chandlers Ford and had a few games with my Grandad, my Dad and his mates. My Grandad beat him in a best of 5 legs and my old man took a leg off him in a 1-2 loss. Top bloke apparently. Dont know if he was using it as an excuse for losing a match and dropping another couple of legs but he said it takes him a couple of hours practise "to get his eye in" before he feels comfortable competing. Always wondered whether that was the norm with Pro's like Barney and Taylor or if they can just go out and turn it on.

I cant believe I just watched that. I am totally enraged at the thought that someone could do that. I dont always believe in an eye for an eye but I would happily drop that piece of scum off the bridge. That has actually really affected my mood now. I'm fuming.
