I think Adam would be mad not to wait until the end of the season and see if we get promotion. Obviously from a club and fan perspective he should sign a new deal now but from his point of view after 2 seasons in League 1 he'll be ready for a higher (not necessarily Premier League) level.

It's a valid point but you get clubs that fluke a promotion via the play-offs all the time. Fair play to Holloway, I like the bloke and think he's always good value in interviews and actually not a much managerially speaking. However, Blackpool's record last season was; won 19, drawn 13, lost 14, whereas ours was; won 22, drawn 14, lost 9. Having come out of administration where we were raped of all our best talent for a pittance and had to rebuild more or less from scratch, we were always going to spend money because we have it. That said, even now I would honestly rather have our squad than Blackpool's. With the exception of Charlie Adam I really couldnt say another of their players would get in our team. I respect Holloway's attitude that he is not going to bring in any big time charlies and that the players that got him promoted deserve a crack at the Premier League but one would assume they are about to have a very demoralising season. Call me old fashioned but I'd rather build a little more slowly and have a backbone of a side to compete in the Premier League without having to make wholesale changes simply just to survive. With young players like Morgan, Lallana and Puncheon they all have the potential, time on their side and ability to mature in to players who can grow in tandem with the clubs aspirations.

Good post in my opinion. Fans who once had a voice as their non-attendance would harm the club are no longer given the same voice they once were. I've not got a problem with this. I trust Cortese. He's making decisions which are unpopular with a few fans but all of it is done towards making Southampton a bigger and better club. If he puts a few noses out of joint on the way, that's par for the course. This club has pandered to fan power too many times in the past to the clubs detriment for Cortese to allow it to set a precedent now.

I'm sorry but I know thats rubbish. I remember being in a rather large pub in Cardiff before the final and Rupert Lowe came on the TV for an interview and drew a massive cheer from the fans. There were a good couple of years when him and WGS provided a bit of a double act and he was popular with the fans and media.

Even if true I think this is quality. Nicola Cortese is the Liam Gallagher of football chairmen!!! To be honest I think it is awful how football league chairman are happy to bend over and be firmly rogered by the clubs in the Premier League and Cortese has previously gone on record to voice his frustration on this subject so it's nothing new even if this really is true.

Not read everyone elses comments but I dont need to because I know I am right... Cortese is brilliant. He is beligerent, brash and driven. Exactly the type of guy we need at the helm if we are serious about attaining Premier League status again within 4 years. Him flogging Matty and banning Franny leaves a bit of a sour taste but business-wise, he is totally focussed on where we are moving and making sure we achieve it properly.

Hi ian, have you checked out TK Maxx? They regularly sell decent enough footy boots at a fraction of the original price. Admittedly you are going to fine a paid of mercurials, tiempos or mundials but they will be decent makes such as Adidas, Nike, Reebok and Puma, leather and a choice between moulded and screw-in. I too would opt for moulded but leave the blades alone.

The same Puncheon that got in to the League 1 team of the season? Puncheon has got everything a winger needs and replacing him on the right wing when he is left footed and totally devoid of pace would not be the wisest of moves. Puncheon has proven on his day he is untouchable at this level and definitely has the potential to grow with us as well. Particularly with the loss of Waigo and by the looks of it Antonio, I dont think taking Punch out of the team would do much for the overall pace of the team would it? As for whoever said Surman is "absolute class" I'd like to know on what basis they have formed this opinion.

Surman wouldnt get in to the team anyway. He doesnt have Hammond's aggression and Morgan is in my opinion a better player. If Surman goes to Norwich that will be his level for the rest of his career probably. Mid-Championship level. Morgan has the potential to grow with us all the way to the Premier League, Surman despite being a half decent player AND local lad, probably doesnt. Good luck to him though.

It seems most peoples problem towards James Corden is that he happens to be overwight yet is enjoying fame and success. I dont think Corden is among the elite when it comes to British writers, actors and comedians but the fact is he wrote a Smash Hit along with Ruth Jones in Gavin and Stacey which lasted 3 series and yet the public are crying out for more. Fair play to him, he knew when to stop. Another thing worth noting is I'm sure Patrick Stewart has a whole raft of overweight fans, so why he felt the need to bring up an issue such as weight and risk alienating his more portly fans is beyond me. Both of them were guilty of indulging in one-upmanship but Stewart started it and Corden dealt with it better but it really should never have happened.

It might actually be worth noting Alpine that the transfer window isnt even officially open yet. It opens at the start of July. Alps, chill the f*ck out. The transfer window is still closed and pre-season training hasnt even started yet. How many other clubs are signing players left right and centre at the moment? The only team to make a notable signing so far has been Man City with Boateng and thats because they have signed him on a pre-contract. Just enjoy the World Cup and see where we are in a months time.

Get over it mate. It's a business and you are a customer. A customer is required to meet the terms of purchase set out by the vendor. Sometimes its not convenient and sometimes due to circumstances the terms of purchase change. If you cant afford the season ticket or choose not to purchase that is your problem, not the clubs. Frankly speaking, a boycott of any description is f**king ludicrous given what Cortese and Liebherr have done for the club in such a short space of time.
