Forster has to be given a go. Salisu needs to start. Redmond is not a striker.
-
I don't normally single out individual players however; McCarthy is solid but not a spectacular #1 - we could do/need better Stephens ok as a back up but not for a run of games - I hope Salisu turns out to be what the club hope Redmond had his day. Crossing is abysmal. Ings needs to make his mind up on whether he is going to sign a new contract or not hasnt seemed the same player in last few months Today again was another sign that loaning Valery out is just mind boggling

Why do we play so f***ing slow going forward. At the start of the season we were exciting to watch now when we go forward everything is laboured. Say what you want about the 9-0 but Newcastle showed us today that even by going down to 10 & then 9 with the injury it doesn't mean you have to cave in. We need to bring some intensity when going forward and stop giving away stupid goals like the 3rd today.

Dermot Gallagher on Sky Sports News Ref Watch has said it wasnt a penalty in his opinion Martial initiated contact by dragging his leg into Bednarek. Bet the FA don't overturn it tho.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Do the club sell names on the back of shirts by per letter? Is the cub trying to recoup some lost funds by trying to have as many double-barreled names as possible 😂 Joking apart I think he would be a good signing.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
westmidlandsaint replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Shame I thought big things were expected of Robise. Obviously been hampered by injuries and by the sounds of things not found that potential he was showing before the injuries. -
Bloody hell there's a bit of an over reaction to Theo coming home!! I've seen not a lot from the likes of Obafemi, Tella, Sims etc to say they are either ready or good enough yet. Theo will score more than Long. I for one am happy with this signing it may kick start his career coming back home. He's 31 not 37!! Reminds me of all the negativity around signing the injury prone Danny Ings...

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

I wonder if the Premier League decision to cancel the TV deal with China will also make Gao think about selling up. -
Haven't we bought Matt Crocker back to do that role?

Well not like Saints to be used as a stepping stone to CL clubs. We can supply regular prem football for a couple of years before a big move.......
-
If the season is null and void and wiped from the history books, not only do Liverpool's wait for a title go on, the 9-0 defeat to Leicester never happened and Portsmouth miss out on their trip to Wembley......

Received my son's shirt through the post. Not impressed in the slightest. Ordered YXL as this was the size of last season's that still fits nicely. This season's YXL is considerably smaller. My son is a tall for his age but the next size up is a men's at another £13. The shirt also had a reddish/pink stain on the white stripe and a big stain all around the logo on the inside of the shirt. The logo itself was mucky. Expect more from Saints and for £42!!

Been mentioned to me that it could be Kevin Danso - Augsburg??

Hi Carl. I have Subscribed after reading that first article. Would be nice to read some thought provoking articles not the same rehashed garbage. Also a big American Football fan and hadn't come across The Athletic before so very interested in it's makeup. The fact that you've moved to Southampton makes me believe you're doing this seriously as well which is refreshing. As my profile name suggests I'm not based in Southampton so probably won't get the chance to meet you or share my views on my beloved (& bloody frustrating) Saints but it you ever need an opinion from a fan originally from but now not local to Southampton with a young son (9 yrs old) who also supports Saints please do not hesitate to ask.

So does anyone actually have one of these eBay kits? If so how bad a fake are they? They look pretty good compared to the fakes my son buys on holiday in Spain/Greece/Turkey etc and they never have Saints kits. If they’re good might save me a fair bit in money

The last 3 appointments have not worked out which makes you think there is a bigger problem at the heart of the club. We replace Hughes and we’ll be in the same situation in 6 months. It’s time for wholesale changes starting with Les & Ross. Their recent track record is abysmal. We should have gone all out to get Paul Mitchell back from a player recruitment side and if Hughes goes then for me I’d like to see Rodgers or Benitez

Gallagher spent season on loan at Birmingham in the Championship. Nothing has shown he has a chance of making it in the prem. I’d love to see an academy prospect come through but I don’t think Gallagher is it nor is anyone knocking on the door from the academy

As someone that’s been crying out got a striker (yes I’d have preferred Welbeck or Alcacer) i’ve got to say I’m happy with Ings, being he’s local and supposedly a Saints fan he might give it his all for the shirt. At the end of the day he’ll score more than Long. Get behind Saints fans and lets seen what he can do.

Mario Lemina - Official: Signs for Nice
westmidlandsaint replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
His performance v West Brom away was one of the most commanding performances I have seen from anyone wearing a Saints shirt. He dominant and controlled the game from start to finish and capped the performance with a goal. If Hughes finds a way of getting Lemina to play like that game more regularly we’ll be selling him for big bucks. He’s got it in him. -
It says Weekly offer anyone know if today is day 1 of the weekly offer? Can’t see it any where on there.
-
I see him more as an upgrade/replacement for Steven Davis. The season before last he was very good. Last season he had a touch of VVD about him where he wanted to go, stayed, and as a result form dipped slightly along with a few injuries that took their toll. £7m in today’s market is nothing and definitely worth a punt.

What’s the asking price for Hirving Lozano at PSV. No doubt it increased after his goal for Mexico v Germany

Finally, the long-overdue 2018/19 kit thread...
westmidlandsaint replied to The9's topic in The Saints
I must be in the minority as I don’t mind the home shirt and really like the yellow shirt. I showed my 8 year old who said they were ‘sick’ which I think is a good thing!! -
People saying Hughes is underwhelming, who do we actually think we can realistically get in our current situation? As I said on another thread this morning I have lived in the Midlands for past 13 years and know a few Stoke fans. They spent the first three seasons under Hughes singing his praises post Pulis. It’s only this season they turned against him following poor run. Hughes wouldn’t be my 1st choice but I realise my first choices are probably out of reach. The ‘available list’ isn’t the greatest list of we’re going with premier league experience. If it Hughes I’ll get behind him.
-
A lot of people anti Mark Hughes. He wouldn't be my first choice but he's not as bad as people are making out. Didn't he have 3x 9th place finishes with Stoke before this season catastrophe? I remember a lot of Stoke fans raving about him after he took over from Pulis
