Summer 2013 HCDAJFU / Transfer thread
westmidlandsaint replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
I work with a lot of Villa fans and they have resigned themselves to the fact that their transfer market is the £2m -£4m bracket and I don't think we're going to be shopping there (albeit maybe 1 or 2) and although they have signed a few players early doors I wouldn't say they haven't been overwhelmed by any of their signings. In fact I laughed today when one of them (who knows saints players well as he has the desk next to mine) turned around and said Tonev = De Ridder, Helenius = Mayuka, Okore = Forren & Bacuna = Guly -
RIP Ron, would have loved to have seen him play but before my day

Good post 'saints_is_the_south' the only position I would add too is another striker although I love both Rickie & JRod but to get to the next level we need another option -

The strangest away day that you've been on
westmidlandsaint replied to Tom8558's topic in The Saints
Man City last ever game at Maine Road just before the cup final think we won 1-0 sat in a temporary stand but rumours went around the Man City fans that Oasis were doing a gig at the end of the game and as we came out of the ground people were trying to get in to see the gig but were only allowed in with a match ticket so we sold them our ticket stubs turned out it was just a tribute act!! Paid for the pub dinner on the way home tho -
Schneiderlin & Shaw for me too

Come on, let's relegate Stoke on the last day.
westmidlandsaint replied to CB Fry's topic in The Saints
If I could automatically relegate one team from the premier league it would be Stoke, cannot stand them, **** football with a rat of a manager, I'd love it if we relegated them -
No.....

I wasn't aware that he had left the Black Bear in Moreton in Marsh, although thinking about it, it has been a while since I stopped in there

Pochettino's first presser in English: Sweepstake
westmidlandsaint replied to CWD's topic in The Saints
Haha it would be even funnier if he started quoting some adkinisms and started going on about "being on the bus" or together as one or any of his other favs -
As a former local league ref in my younger days I am of the opinion that it is down to the ref how much help he asks his assistants/linesman for however it is standard at lower leagues for the refs to tell the linesman before the game that they just want help with offside, throw in's and corners. This is what I certainly always told my linesman and I always found it hard consulting the linesman due to their biased nature. I actually was linesman for my mates team the other month where I gave a goal offside due to interference the player who was offside stood in front of the keeper obstructing him from claiming the cross and a player came from an onside position to score. The ref came over and asked why I'd given it offside I explained and he said ........ I'm only including offsides for players who touch the ball and he gave the goal, I informed him he couldn't just change the rules, too which he replied I can and I have.

Interesting Balague just said that Jose Mourinho contacted saints (through a 3rd party) to say we couldn't go wrong with Pochettino. The actual interview was nothing we haven't heard before
-
The interview hasn't been on yet, it's after the break that's on now, interview is with Guilliem Balague

How long before we all calm down on this forum
westmidlandsaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Agreed, I am not happy at all about Adkins going but some of the reactions on here are laughable, all this about wanting the new manager to fail is ridiculous what kind of saints fan wants their manager to fail. What good is a protest going to do? By all means sing Adkins name to show him that we respect him but we have to get behind Pochettino from the start, this isn't his fault, he's been offered a good job and he's taken it fair play to him. What's funny is that half the people on here slating Pochettinon and Cortese are the same people that weren't happy when Adkins was announced, he wasn't a big enough name after Pardew, never proven in the transfer market with money to spend etc etc ......ring any bells -
I'm gutted about Adkins but protesting will not change anything it will not bring him back, protesting will make us look like Chelsea fans, we need to show solidarity we need to jump on the pocchetino bus and get behind him and the team

"Saints considering Mauricio Pochettino" - Daily Mirror
westmidlandsaint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Balague is also an Espanyol fan which was Pochettino's last club so he may be in the know, however I still think these rumours are just thata rumour -
Agreed thought Morgan was awesome tonight, I remember talking to some non supporting saints friends back when we were in League 1 and said then that I thought Morgan was more suited to Premier League football and I think he has looked head and shoulders above what he has the last few years

From the Villa OS.......don't think Vlaar will play TEAM NEWS Villa boss Paul Lambert is set to welcome back Brett Holman [virus] and Ashley Westwood [ankle ligaments], who missed the cup games against Ipswich and Bradford. Ron Vlaar has also resumed training, although the Saints clash could come too soon for the Dutch defender. Darren Bent [knee], Chris Herd [foot] and Marc Albrighton [foot] have all been ruled out. Southampton pair Jose Fonte and Adam Lallana are out with knee problems. Emmanuel Mayuka is away with Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nice local game for me this one, unfortunately I'm in the Villa end (£20) with my villa supporting step-daughter and my best mate. They have been awful this year and have the distraction of the semi 1st leg away at Bradford mid week. I think if we can score early and get pressure on their fans will turn against them
