I fear you may be nearer to the truth than you realise. Adders is now in the brown stuff and he knows it, maybe not much deeper than up to his knees but even that is difficult to escape from. Predictably he will become more and more agitated as points keep getting lost and Snr Cortese asks for an explanation on Monday mornings. The more he squirms the more he'll start acting rashly and of course the deeper his boots will sink. People under extreme pressure always resort to panic decisions in the vain hope that one miraculous act will create "the breakthrough" that he vainly seeks and all will be well. Except that blind guesses under pressure never work. So, where this is leading is that the one thing he knows well is the reliability of players at S****horpe, the one remaining lifebuoy that might just might keep him afloat and for sure if things get that bad you can guarantee he'll clutch at it... So why would Second Division Scunny folk want to join Third Division S'amton...? Your guess is as good as mine, maybe if they think they'll be down here again soon enough that may be a spur plus a bit more of the folding stuff in this recession will always come in handy but heck ManC we ain't so it's never going to amount to more than a few quid after tax, NI alimony and iPads for the nippers. Anybody who heard David Ginola's comments on MotD2 of Bale will recognise instantly the predicament that Rick Lmabert is in. He has been totally unable to vary his play enough in the face of th evry close marking that is now de rigeur for all oppo defences as a result of Rick's free-scoring habit last season. He has been rumbled and as time passes it seems more and more obvious he has nowhere to go, it's either career over OR he gets his head in as a solid old-fashioned No 9 and use his brawn and power to crunch oppo CBs and yep! it's gonna cost him a few front teeth in the process but he'll also grab a few. It's no recipe for a 40 goal season and if he gets only 10 all year it's still a good call, but right now the way he's playing he's going nowhere.

I think it's more a question of "Where was plan effing A?" What was really depressing was that midway through the second half Adders resorted to Burley type arm gyrations that used to invite the observation from less respectful fans.. " Careful George, any faster and you'll get airborne!" Maybe that's what he was hoping.. "Listen guys, I'm a really great manager so get me out of here!" This is going to be one very long winter relieved now at least by speculation of who our next manager will be. Maybe MON is still waiting?

The most obvious lasting memorial would be to name the Itchen stand after him "The Marcus Liebherr Stand" with a nice pic of him sketched out in white seats on the red seat background. He did more for this Club in one year than anybody has ever done - he saved Saints from extinction.

Let me add a ray of sunshine for a moment on this otherwise very bleak story. Marcus Liebherr's legacy for to NC and the club may have amounted to a few million or a few tens of million quid but a finite and limited amount of money so to drive on into te premier League, NC already realises we will need a minimum of £50-100m. The shortfall isn't going to come from gate receipts unless the stadium is enlarged... Perhaps, NC is in the market for more investors to come on board and be partners in the venture. If the total value of the assets plus the legacy under NC's control was (say) £50m maybe he could expand the sharebase to allow investments of up to £49m and still retain control so that the Club ends up with a fighting fund of around £100m... Hence the Sun rumour could have been true in part and NC's alleged comments to staff would not be untrue - that part of the club is for sale but not the whole club and he NC would still retain control? Not the man U or Chelsea style of single family ownership but the Arsenal style collective ownership of like minded people? Discuss.. my further contribution to get off the whingeing old codger step and give all you suicidal types a reason for not jumping!

I have a feeling that the "fit and proper person test" will be far more rigorously applied post the FIFA 2018 voting debacle. The FA and the FL will no doubt be feeling far more independent from now on to do things their way. Today's talk of Harry Redknapp taking over England seems to me to be a coded message saying foreigners may as well b*gger off, there are even rumours of Abromovich selling Chelsea as Russia summons home its entrepreneurs to deliver 2018. Of course, there might also be a mood abroad that the party in England is effectively over in which case many foreign owners might take flight at the first whiff of gunshot. Don't forget FIFA is a Swiss organisation and who is running Saints?

I am hoping we will be given first refusal on our own ST seats this time. Not having that choice is really quite insulting to spectators who have backed this club year in year out, thick and thin, fair weather and foul for decades on end. We do need to keep a sense of proportion about these things. SMS was built in 2001 over 60 years after the Nazi blitz of the town centre yet there has never been even a thought of erecting any kind of memorial in the St Mary's area to those lost in that shelter before to my knowledge. It is well to remember that other shelters were hit as well, notoriously the one outside Edwin Jones and of course the Above Bar area was totally destroyed yet there are no memorials worthy of the name anywhere to be seen and no great clamour to turn our City into a mausoleum and quite rightly so in my view. In the past people just wanted to forget the damage and depredations of two world wars in quick succession - in which sudden and unexpected death became a frequent visitor - and move on with Life. The poverty and misery of the population in their aftermath took years to ease and quite understandably few wished to be reminded of those all too recent ghastly events through memorials and the like. People may well have been in a state of permanent denial about the past and who could blame them? Now, we live in more affluent and strangely reflective times where new generations have developed a kind of sadly misplaced nostalgia for horrific events that are beyond their ken. Distance blurs memories and memorials are perhaps necessary reminders of the cruel lessons of history that must never be forgotten but they should never be more than that. If Mr Cortese wishes to honour people in this way then good for him but do not automatically jump to the conclusion that earlier custodians of the land in which the tragedy occurred were heartless brutes - emphatically they were not. Judge today's events and cations by today's standards by all means but do not fall into the trap of judging decisions made in earlier times by today's standards please. I was never a supporter of Mr Lowe but let's be fair he battled long and hard for a new stadium for SFC and eventually succeeded. Just trying to find a site, the money and the strength to battle through all the planning nightmares would probably have been enough distraction for most, having to then deal with issues like memorials well come on chaps... as I said please keep a sense of proportion especially as we don't have transcripts of any of the conversations of the time.

Perhaps we can have Higgenbottom, Delap and Fuller back now... ? ;-)

Very disappointing but at least it's at home again! There was a time 3/4 years ago when I wouldn't have got out of bed to watch a team called Blackpool now they're two leagues better than us so some might regard this is as a dream tie. Me? I can't be Rrsed to get out of bed to watch a bunch of Belicia beacons running about with a donkey in tow. Ah well, we were never going to win it anyway.

Well i don't agree with you and IMHO your views are grossly unfair. You don't get to play for France U21 without prodigious gifts. Maybe it would be more balanced had you suggested that crap kick-and-rush, up-and-under, long ball, head it anywhere, third division crap is far too basic for the sort of imaginative football he will have been schooled on. If Saints cannot utilise his obvious gifts as promotion pretenders then they are nowhere near ready enough to step up to the plate. Only Saints would cast aside one of its most valuable footballing assets; let's be honest he will go in January 'cos he must be effed off by now. As for fans against Schneiderlin, "there are none so blind that have no wish to see!"

My bet is that Oldham will win this league, they have been by far the best team to come to SMS this season. OK we won 2-0 but anybody who went will remember what a superb game it was. Thought then they'd match us step-by-step all the way and guess who's still one place below us. Probably we'll be second as otherwise Adders gets it - his P45 - and this is not a good time to become unemployed.
