  1. Realistically CMS will probably only be getting offers from championship clubs. Prem clubs might consider him but I doubt it. I reckon we should be able to compete with any championship club so if he's judging a club on it's ambition then we should be fine. The asking price of 2M is what P'boro want but I doubt they'll get it - they've got a player with one year left on his contract who has said he's leaving and so has Barry Fry and they won't be in too much of a strong position to haggle. 1.5M tops would get him and maybe a fair bit less than that. Question is do we still want him? I'd be happy with that signing but I'd not be moaning if we didn't - out of all the realistic targets Jack Cork could prove to be the most important and influential (if it happened).
  2. Marmite, cream cheese and crisp sandwiches are great. Also just marmite and peanut butter sandwiches aint bad either.
  3. More marmite for proper English types then innit? Great news. I never trusted Daneland, Daneway or whatever with it in the first place.
  4. I have to say I don't honestly think any criticism of Puncheon on here or during games was racially motivated, but I'll take on board the subconsious racist stuff, and I just don't think it's applicable in this case. I'm one of the biggest lefties around and I'd probably agree with DP if I could but in this case I don't. Of course if I'm a subconsious racist though then I would say that.... Anyway what I would take issue with is this almost given that Puncheon's attitude is a bad one - it may well be, but none of us know him, and none of us can judge him on that score. Take the interview - what did we get? A few pages of vitriol telling him to do one until a few people pointed out that he didn't actually say anything wrong, derogatory or indeed anything that would indicate a bad attitude. People can criticise him all they like for his on field performances if they want - that's their right but FWIW I thought and still think he's a pretty good player. To be honest though this is pretty typical of fans in general. Remember when we most of us were livid at the thought of Pardew going last season, and once NA came in and started winning a few games that outrage was quickly forgotten about. At the end of the day (to use a well worn cliche) all we as fans care about is success - we don't really care if a player has a bad attitude when we're doing well but we sure as hell do if we're doing badly, and if said scapegoat hasn't got a bad attitude? That's not a problem because we'll invent one for him.
  5. Not sure what he's like now but Scott McDonald certainly didn't lack any pace when he was younger. I'm not sure about his attitude either (but then no one on here is) but if Strachan signed him twice then it can't be too bad. I'd be happy if we did sign him.
  6. People who believe in absurdities
  7. I did read that line, and I also read the "Or not". Which is it? The Joss Stone was a bit confusing to be honest....you played a record and then found out there was an article online about her. Wow.
  8. TBH both these accounts are signs of mental illness or trauma. I realise that sounds a bit harsh and I'm sorry but it's true - there are no ghosts, there is no paranormal activity.
  9. Kind of hard but basically anything you mental people can come up with.
  10. Good video. All supernatural beliefs are unfounded and wrong and I'm not going to say IMO because it's not just me, it's everyone. Think you've seen a ghost? You're either wrong or mistaken because there's no such thing.
  11. Sunday Supplement is typical of the over analysis of football, and inflating what are probably fairly bland statements into earth shattering ones. I'm no great fan of Fergie but one week if he criticises someone then it's so and so gets the hair dryer treatment, and if he praises a team then it's mind games. Goals on Sunday isn't much better when Kamara goes on about referees - one moment he's asking for consistency and the next he wants common sense. He doesn't seem to realise that consistency and common sense aren't always mutually compatible.
  12. And Groves never threw a really hard punch so you still can't say DeGale chin has been tested......FWIW I had DeGale nicking two of the first six rounds - there were quite a few rounds that didn't have much action so it depends upon interpretation. I wanted Groves to win so perversely probably marked him down a bit if that makes sense. I agree with the other poster who says that this will be good for DeGale, in the same way it was for Khan. I also agree that Groves shouldn't go anywhere near a rematch - he doesn't have anything to gain by it (other than a shed load of money I guess).
  13. I agree. The article about the European scout suggested as much and it makes sense - European players are cheaper and it's an easier sell to get them to come here. I think we'll get a "marquee", probably British, signing to show how ambitious we are but the rest will be from overseas.
  14. No, not really it's about body language, attractiveness and all those little behavioural quirks that make up what we call charisma. There's nothing supernatural about it at all. The reason shows like Most Haunted turn it into a circus is because the idea of the supernatural in the first place is ridiculous.
  15. Funnily enough I was explaining the theory of what goes around, comes around to my pet lizard yesterday, I said, 'That's Karma, Chameleon'. Trouble is he disappeared after that - he's like that though; he comes and goes.
  16. My Auntie is a medium, well she says that but she's actually a bit bigger and likes girls. She's bi and large......
  17. To be honest although I'm glad that Groves won I actually did think DeGale won it. It was unbelievably close though and neither boxer can really argue if it had gone against them. What it did demonstrate though is how good a coach Adam Booth is - he seems to be like an English Freddie Roach in that he comes up with an effective plan against any fighter his boxers come up against.
  18. Not sure fate can be an agent of revenge given that by design it's already predetermined....and anyway R did it with the best of intensions...
  19. Post 'em here, oh and count of monte cristo is a given
  20. To be honest I was going to post that it was stupid to put the photos up on fb but on reflection I don't actually think they've done anything wrong, or to be ashamed of.
  21. Agreed - it's harmless and totally irrelevant to their job.
  22. I agree although I've gone for a DeGale win in rounds 4-6, which has been a lucky bet for me recently. I think DeGale is the better prospect and boxer but would be good to see Groves win.
  23. I took quite a few photos of the game today, mainly because I'm just getting into this photography lark and a mate was playing. Some of them came out OK and some didn't but if anyone was playing and would like them then pm me. Anyway, seemed like a decent day and everyone enjoyed it.
  24. I'm in the same situation - the girl I worked with took Voluntary Severance in March, and isn't being replaced. The majority of her work has been passed onto me and I was busy enough as it was. When I asked what the plans were to cope with her absence I was told "We need to find ways of working smarter" - obviously this answer was delivered by a senior manager with no comprehension of the job I do (or desire to learn about it), or it's workload. It's a tricky situation as I like the job I do but it's a situation that hasn't been handled well.
  25. DeGale Vs Groves stands out tonight and should be a good fight - personally think that DeGale will win and is rightly favourite. However, Groves has a good camp with David Haye and his trainer has a good record. Can't help thinking this will go the same way as when Maccaranelli met Haye and came out comprehensively second best though. Not holding out much hope on the Cleverly fight being that good - 3rd opponent in a week and 10 years younger and a better record suggests Cleverly should take this one comfortably. There's some good bets around though - Paddy Power are offering 5/1 on a KO for NC in rounds 1-3, and 3/1 in rounds 4-6. I really can't see it going beyond 6 rounds either.
