Like firemen? Oh no those bastards can go on strike so screw them. Or nurses nope they earn too much and can't possibly be compared can they? if you want a bit of respect then you have to give it as well . I don't see anyone denigrating servicemen and I don't see anyone slagging them off - there's a few people who think they don't deserve free tickets and that's all. If you're ****ed off with the way this thread is going it's because you couldn't accept an alternate point of view.
-
I have a mate who works in MacDonalds and he loves it - does he get a free ticket? He is quite poor but can speak English.
-
If infantry soldiers are that clever couldn't they get a better job and not have to rely on free tickets?
-
Is the answer No?
-
OK, that's a fair justification.
-
Tricky this one. I want to give you the right to an opinion then but then I'd have to do the same for St. George.
-
You only need Dune's reply to answer that. I wasn't drawing party lines merely showing that others would. My original post pointed that out but happy to explain it again for the hard of thinking.

If this was a Labour MP or a union leader they would be labelled a socialist traitor (although I'm not saying you would do that but plenty would). In this particular case I don't be believe it would be morally right to appoint someone to this position when they have avoided paying that much tax albeit legally.

Does anyone feel that the grief on the main board is a little over the top? I really don't mean to criticise anyone who feels that pain that deeply but I'm afraid I don't share it in quite the same way. Of course it's sad and of course I sympathise with his family and friends but it's hard for me to feel exactly like they do because I never knew him. Some of the suggestions such as renaming the stadium and ending all your posts with WIFM just seem very weird to me. I'm not trying to be inflammatory or controversial but does anyone else think the same or am I just a heartless b**tard?
-
Yep, will do. Tell you what I'll give you a count of ten to run away.

To be fair he's worse when he has the ball....

It always makes me laugh when football is described by chairmen as a business and then when you're fighting relegation they need your help, we're all in this together etc etc. Well if football is a business then price it accordingly - if i go and see a film then I have a high degree of probability that I'd be satisfied. If I see and a game and we've lost or drawn then I'm disappointed. If I support an average side then that's a 66% chance of disappointment and I shouldn't have to pay full price to endure that - i'm a customer not a fan and the company has let me down ergo I won't go again. Ludicrous isn't it? We are fans and we endure the bad results - little things like charging to park in what would otherwise be an empty car park when you're already paying to use their coach isn't going to encourage people to go away and it won't bring in much money. It'll do more harm than good. I'll say it - I'm glad of Marcus Liebherr but Cortese? Not sure. His decisions are becoming increasingly bizarre and if he talked to the press I wouldn't be surprised to hear a Klingon reference.
-
Clearly you made the right choice and you echo my own thoughts on glory hunters. Ultimately we should feel sorry for them because they'll never feel that same sense of kinship with a club. The thing that gets me is that they always justify it by telling you they've been a glory hunter for x number of years as if being a long standing one is any better than being a recent one.

I went to the game yesterday and didn't think it that bad. I'm in the minority because it seems everyone disagrees with me. There are problem areas of course but it's not THAT bad. I expect I'll get a load of flak for daring to suggest that but I've seen a lot of poor performances and that wasn't one of them. It's a shame really but reading the posts today it seems the anger hasn't died down - people are still really angry and I can't relate to them at all. Oh well, we're all saints fans and want the same thing but after this weekend? Well, I'm just glad I don't sit near most of you.

1. 28 is generally considered prime of players career - I don't care what your personal opinion is. 2. No, you included what you read on the internet and not fact. Stop pretending you didn't 3. Two players with different style in the same position can of course be compared together if you have imagination of course calling you myopic was a mistake - I meant you are someone who believes their opinion is more important than any other and believes it is probably fact. I apologise for saying you are just short sighted.
-
I'll take issue with your argument just because you were a bit too aggressive. Firstly you can compare Puncheon and Antonio - they play in the same position so that's point one done and dusted. Secondly As you don't know what Puncheon's transfer fee was nor what Reading are asking for you can't then say "ergo the game (not me) already rates a youngster with hardly any starts under his belt as the equal (at least) of a player in his prime" You actually don't know so stop guessing and then presenting that as fact. Thirdly Puncheon is what 23/24? Not quite the prime of his career then. You're so myopic you couldn't see the other side of the fence if you were stood on it.

As an aside did you know your avatar Tommy Cooper lived in Blackfield and went to school at Hardley? He was a saints fan but would have been proud of Portsmouth's financial magic tricks.

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
revolution saint replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Newcastle and West Brom want him so doubt he'd drop to div 1 - would be good though. -
It's on betfair so in all probability it ain't going to happen. 500K for Antonio seems fair - maybe chuck in 10% sell on, and the same again for Phillips is also fair. We could do with both. Pardew used Antonio a lot as a striker and although he's no cover for Lambert he can do a job up front if needed. If either were true then I'd be happy.

Absolutely and it's such a crap excuse. It's like something a school kid would come up with. I'll be honest that I expected a lot of baffling legalese but if that's the best they can come up with? I just can't see how the CVA is legal, realistic or in the best interest of the creditors.
-
I'm no expert but surely the only question the judge needs to consider is "Is the CVA legal"? Morally I'm sure the football creditors rule is wrong but maybe not in law. the biggest thing seems to be the disputed difference in debt between HMRC's valuation and the administrator. I'd side with HMRC on this one and would hope the judge will too. If Pompey's defence is to rely on some heart string pulling rhetoric then surely that's no defence at all? In fact if I were the judge I think that would strengthen my resolve - if it's that bad now then they really don't stand a chance of fulfilling their obligations even with the CVA. If they do end up liquidated then I won't shed a tear. I know some Pompey fans - none of them are decent.
-
Oh FFS! You think I wanted praise? Christ on a bike! I want anger! I want vitriol! I want inventive invective! Jeez, I feel like Burgess Meredith in Rocky - you've (literally) lost your hunger. You need to chase chickens or something....
-
Tbf I think you've been utter **** this pre-season. Apart from an inspired fat boy thread you haven't offered anything new at all and I'm disappointed. I paid my fiver in good faith to read you and for what? Some standard generic moaning - you're just going through the motions mate and you shouldn't take us for granted. I know it's just pre-season and you'll get better but surely you could experiment with some new themes and try them for size? Frankly I'm not confident going into this season - I expected world class moaning but so far it's been a bit dull. At this rate I'm going to have to go to games instead and that would be a shame..
-
It'll be our first chance to see the team today for a lot of us and given NC's previous comments about a Southampton "style" (see here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8679885.stm) I wondered what people thought the style might be? I don't expect to see much of it today given it's a friendly and we've got key injuries but it'll be interesting to see how that style develops over the season. It would be quite good to have a recognised brand of football - we used to have it until Branfoot took over and we never really got it back. Thoughts?

A new Saints Fanzine for SFC - on sale (v Reading)
revolution saint replied to redandwhitebill's topic in The Saints
Good luck mate and I'll buy a copy if I see someone selling it. I'm sure I'm not alone in missing proper fanzines and would be great to see one back here.
