  1. To be fair SOG has ****ed all over alpine in this argument. Alpine needs to do better.
  2. Is the point of this thread to comment on your opinion? Yaaaaawn!
  3. I'd agree with this and Mowbray has the advantage of having managed a club of similar size to us. I get the impression that we've probably got more coaches than Scunny have players so it might be a bit of a culture shock for Adkins coming here. Everything I've read about Adkins suggests he could do well here but we face a different set of challenges to the ones he faces at Scunny - everyone talks about having a plan B to break teams down but I doubt that's something he's had to worry about much before. Having a small but talented squad might work in his favour though as it looks as if that's when he's at his best. I'd be happy with either but we'll probably have a new favourite come tomorrow - if I lumped £50 on Leonardo we'll probably be talking about him instead.
  4. The theory only breaks down if you assume that NC had a plan of what to do after he sacked AP. Doesn't look like he did.
  5. To be honest I agree with you but playing devils advocate for a bit what can MON actually hope for? He won't get a top four club now, or at least in the near future so that leaves premier league also rans (which he's just left) and ambitious second tier clubs. You'd have to say this would be an exciting project to take on so it's not beyond the realms of possibility although I'd admit very unlikely. Him and Cortese seem like a match made in hell but would be a lot of fun.
  6. Count the minutes till Alpine slagged him off. My guess is one.
  7. No problem - I was just explaining why it's in all probablity untrue. WAFFLE (Win Again For Fat Liebherrs Everywhere - Is it to soon for that?)
  8. So that would be Dean Wilkins as well? Nope, sorry still not making sense. In any case whichever way you look at it NC has dropped a b**lock - he should only have sacked AP and his staff when he had his successor lined up. The only exception to that would have been gross misconduct and in which case his staff wouldn't have gone with him.
  9. Well that doesn't make sense! If he applied for the job then under that logic you could possibly sack him but not his staff.
  10. Personally I think these things are often simpler than the conspiracy theories and the over analysing. It seems fairly common knowledge that the two of them didn't really get on - I'd imagine things came to a head (maybe over a transfer) and it got to the point where one of them had to go. At that point NC probably thought it wise to get rid of anyone he felt didn't share his vision as well. All pure speculation on my part of course.
  11. Yeah, I'm just saying that the idea he was sacked because he wanted the Villa job is unlikely. Firstly if he got it then we'd get compo and secondly if he didn't then we should have only sacked him when we had someone lined up.
  12. And of course if the reason for sacking AP is because he applied for the Villa job then we'd reject all applications from managers currently employed?
  13. Paul Hart? The only good thing he ever did was vote against the CVA..... Total joke........
  14. Well whoever it is will need to buy into the "Southampton Style" vision and bring on the kids. Cortese has banged on enough about that. MON doesn't really fit that template and I can't see him working with Cortese either - he isn't going to take kindly to a hands on chief exec. I think it'll be Zola. That would also explain why Dean Wilkins is still here - I'd imagine Zola is still mates with Ray.
  15. This is clearly just a ploy to put other clubs off a cheeky deadline day bid...as is lambert's poor form this season. I also think we've been told by SKY to at least make the league look a bit competitive.
  16. Well given that West Ham look like signing Obinna and Zines is well down the list then it looks realistic. probably not quite what we need but could be good.
  17. Vegetarians are next.
  18. I played it when I was a kid and then went that one geeky further step and got into "proper" wargaming - I had both a Gallic and a Carthaginian army. I grew out of that stage by the time I left school. It is a geeky pursuit but then I think adults playing computer games are geeks and it's no more geeky than that.
  19. So it was just the money then?
  20. I'm gutted - he was my north, my south my blah blah blah
  21. ha ha talk about making presumptions. My reaction is against those on this thread who seem to feel as if this is a death in the family or as if Markus personally touched them. He didn't. What do you people do when someone you actually know dies? Go into meltdown? You know as much about me as you do about Markus and yet you're as happy to slag me off and make judgements as you are to laud Markus. Fact of the matter is you like him because he had pots of money and he spent it on Saints. That's great and I love it. I hope he enjoyed it and I'm very thankful that he spent it on us. I'm sad he died, really I am, but I refuse to speculate about a bloke I never knew. None of us ever heard him speak. If I was a member of his family and some of the stuff on this thread was said to me by complete strangers I would think they were strange and a bit weird. I wouldn't presume that he had as much as impact upon my life as he did on the people he knew - but that's how a lot of you come across. You mention a lack of empathy. I have nothing but empathy for Markus's family which is why I wouldn't presume to "feel their pain" or pretend I did because, again, i never knew him. I can say how much I recognise their loss but a lot of you are confusing their loss with "our loss". Our loss is just a bloke we never knew who had a lot of money and seemed a decent sort and that's it. So get over yourself - I've got plenty of friends in the real world and none of them feel like the bed wetters on here.
  22. Yep, I do and Hypo doesn't. I think it's silly and I don't mind putting it out on here. I think this is over sentimentality. To be honest i don't really care if you disagree - as you've said countless times this is an internet forum and it's all up for debate.
  23. Bloke buys a watch for his mate....that must be the most touching story I've ever read. I'm sorry but this thread is making me wretch. Will people stop pretending Markus was Mother Teresa. I'm sure he was a nice bloke and I am sad he's dead but really? Some of the posts on here are just very sad - have a bit of dignity and stop pretending this is the end of the world. If I was Markus or knew him I would be embarassed by this thread.
  24. It's a rubbish reason why photographers were banned and blatantly made up. Even banning press photographers wouldn't have stopped your happy snappers in the stand. One of the more silly stories this summer.
  25. lol at the person who doesn't know what avuncular is! Or perhaps you forgot what side of the argument you were on today? Do you argue with yourself? I bet you do / don't....please delete as the mood takes you...
