  1. Well not really. It was the standard non-committal answer that didn't give much away. To be fair it's about the only thing he can say but it was hardly "come and get me".
  2. Nothing on Solent on the lunchtime news.
  3. Money means nothing in this league because you can't spend it on quality players. If we were in the champ then maybe it's a different story but in our current position I'd rather have a player capable of playing in the prem playing for us than money than in the bank. Having a good bank account balance won't get us promoted but having good players will. OXO to stay.
  4. What's the point in letting him go this month? Even if we had 10 mill to spend we couldn't spend it. If he goes in the summer and we're promoted then it may be a good deal but otherwise a bit pointless.
  5. Good idea but I doubt it - The league will probably have signed a contract with Old Trafford.
  6. He's been mentioned before and probably already out of our grasp but Dale Jennings would be a superb signing and just what we need. Good pace, an eye for goal, two footed and the right age as well. He wouldn't just be cover either and would fit the template of the kind of team we're trying to create. Probably just a pipe dream - I'm sure there are higher placed teams than us in for him but if Adkins can use his Tranmere connections then he would be a hell of a signing.
  7. Apparently Bartley started as a midfielder so another versatile player. I don't know much about him at all but seems to have had a fair bit of interest shown in him by other clubs. At 24 he'd be the right age for us as well.
  8. Everything by Genesis up till and not including Invisible Touch. I could also include Sugababes but I feel I can justify them.
  9. I may be persuaded to go if all of us decide to sit together and buy shirts with our username on the back.
  10. I won't be going. Despite having a season ticket I have no wish to be regarded as a plastic glory hunting fan or even sit next to that poisonous scum. I will probably stand outside and pelt people with rotten fruit up till kick off and then find a pub.
  11. But they advocate the redistribution of wealth which would actually harm them more so I would say they are actually more true to their beliefs than a "poor" socialist. Of course that's subjective. I would say you're very very thick and so would many others - it doesn't mean you are but it might be more likely.
  12. Could you answer the question about why it's hypocritical to be rich and a socialist? Or do you agree it's not hypocritical?
  13. Please explain why?
  14. I went to a Tolpuddle Martyr festival the year Saints got relegated and Billy joked about it and said on stage, "At least Southampton got relegated". Despite that he is a nice bloke and in case anyone is wondering my favourite album is, "Workers playtime" although Talking with the taxman about poetry is a close second. I don't really understand the argument that socialists should all be poor or traitors to the beliefs though. Surely if they are rich then espousing socialist beliefs is even more of a sacrifice? It's a bit like saying you can't support the Tories unless you're rich.
  15. Absolutely. Players that play with a smile on their faces win tackles and they score goals. Teams that play with a collective smile on their face win games of football. Teams that all eat processed potato smiles will win even more games. Let's not forget it's a battle out there though - we have to fight for our right to smile. Sometimes we'll need to use squad players but it's a squad game and if those squad players keep smiling then we'll keep winning. To all the doubters out there (You know who you are!) I don't care if our manager looks like an out of work kids party clown with a coat hanger rammed in his mouth - he's getting results.
  16. Have you ever been to the Withdean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????? I only ask because I haven't and wondered what it was like.
  17. I like him. He knows where the goal is which is the most important quality in any forward's game. Too many strikers don't know where the goal is. If we can get a midfielder who does the simple things well and a defender who can go into the trenches then it'll be a good transfer window.
  18. Probably best to quote the table after todays games.
  19. Spot on, I don't really want promotion. I quite like being in div 3 and talking about what we'll do in the prem rather than actually being in it. I hope Adkins is given the chance to build countless teams to get us out of this division whilst we can concentrate on what our training facilities, youth team and ground capacity will be like.
  20. I don't really want to get into another "Why was AP sacked" argument - I disagreed but there you go - I don't run the club so my opinion is irrelevant. What I would say is that before the season the expectation was promotion and that expectation should remain the same. It's all very well talking about 40K stadiums and being in the premiership but quite frankly at the moment I only care about this season. The squad isn't bad but does need some additions (I think) if we want automatic promotion so I'd prefer to see us active in the loan and transfer window rather than talking about grand visions. We possibly may be doing everything we can but all this five year plan and competing if and when we get to the prem doesn't address the "here and now" problems. It's the same with the style of football - maybe in the future I'd care about it but at the moment just winning is enough for me. We're in div 3 and I don't expect stellar football just consistent wins - I hope that the concentration on the style of football isn't to the detriment of results. I can't say I've enjoyed Adkins brand of football any more than I enjoyed Pardew's but the draws and defeats have left me more disappointed.
  21. Kahn proved today that even though he may still get hit that he can take a punch. Good performance and well done to the conditioning lads!
  22. Depends whether you have mortgage protection or not but that's a different topic altogether. My argument isn't whether it's right or wrong to charge students for their education merely that they are having to pay more for it, it won't be a better education and that they have a legiitimate right to protest against it.
  23. Whether they believed the libdems could carry it out or not is irrelevant - that's what they voted for and if the party that pledged to carry it out fails to do that then they have a right to disagree. I thought that was a fairly simple argument. In fact it's not really even up for debate is it? You vote for a party because of their policies and if they renege you can disagree. Easy really. It is a debt. In the same way your mortgage is a debt. Of course there are caveats but at the end of the day most students will end up paying more money because of tuition fees. Owing money is called debt. Hope that helps.
  24. Well the libdems have broken their promise - they said they would never support a rise in tuition fees and they have (or at least the leadership has) so their supporters have a right to be annoyed. When they voted for a party they voted for their policies and even in a coalition govt if that chosen party reneges on their promises then it's supporters have a right to disagree. There wasn't a single lib dem voter who voted for coalition so stop calling them idiots. The fact is that the debt on students is increasing and they won't get a better education for it - they're making up the shortfall in govt. funding. It's a legitimate argument to say they should be paying for their education and it's also legitimate to argue that a maintenance in govt. spending and increasing access to higher education will benefit both the country and the student. It's up to the individual to make their mind up. The vast majority of demonstrators today were peaceful but had their point to prove - you may disagree with it but it doesn't make them idiots.
  25. I'm not sure being leftwing, idealogical and wanting to lock up criminals are mutually exclusive.
