  1. Yes, very good player and would probably fit in very well. Problem with loans for the more experienced players is how much the loan would cost. I don't know what Chelsea would be asking but if the loan fee plus wages hits, say, 10M then at what point do you start wondering whether it's cost effective. As I say, I really have no idea how much loans cost so may be way off the mark. The loans for kids I would imagine is likely to be far less so not so much of an issue there. Don't doubt CHO would be quality though.
  2. Weird isn't it? I think it's one of the better kits of the last 30 odd years. Certainly better than the bra efforts, the all red thing we had when we first got promoted and the horrendous pony tick kit. All a matter of opinion though and I virtually never buy/wear kits so doubt I'm the target demographic anyway.
  3. Yes, I'm hoping that Perraud is one of those that shows up with a good second season. He's been steady but definitely room for improvement. Takes a while for some players, new club, new league, new system etc etc. Other thing to bear in mind is that the left side in front of him hasn't been our strongest so it might be that we get someone in that is better than what we've currently got and makes that left flank a bit more stable and more dangerous going forward.
  4. Crossing impressed me the most. Seems to make good decisions albeit YouTube only shows the things that came off.
  5. On the other hand you've got players like Cornet and Dennis who weren't far off getting the same number of goals in worse teams supposedly available for 17.5M and 20M respectively.
  6. I'd agree that the players we're signing or linked with do appear on face value to be pretty decent but it's difficult to tell just how good they'll be (to be fair that's the case with any new player not just kids). There is a tendency to over hype young players though - over successive seasons many people buy into the hype of how good the younger players are or will be, and it's not that long ago you were saying how good Jankewitz was and look how that turned out. I can also remember arguing with people saying Valery was going to be a future star, or that Smallbone was going to be a replacement for Hoijberg. Until they've been tested in first team football no one really knows how they'll fare. Take Delap - physically the lad is a monster at youth level and he's clearly got some talent but who knows how it'll work out when he can't bully his way through games. I think the approach we're taking is absolutely the way to go but I'm not going to get too carried away just yet.
  7. Alex Clapham seems to concentrate on analysing and coaching set pieces as well as doing a lot of work for various academies. Also written a few pieces for the Guardian on various academies and how they produce players.
  8. Generally quite like that. Not sure about those geometric lines on the white parts of the kit but they don't stand out too much so not a big deal.
  9. Yeah, I fucking hate it when teams stay up just because they scored more goals, or won more games than the relegated teams. Makes a mockery of the game we all love.
  10. So we've been linked with or some people would like us to sign: Pope, Mee, Tarkowski, Brownhill, Dwight McNeil and Cornet. It's a wonder they ever got relegated. Has someone mentioned Sean Dyche as a replacement for Ralph?
  11. Dunno how realistic signing Baumgartner would be but looks a cracking player, two footed, can beat players, hard working and decent shot on him too. Ideal player for the 4 2 2 2. Seems like he plays on the left a fair bit too so that’s a bonus.
  12. It’s an opinion, you can go all forensic mlg if you want though. I thought he showed some glimpses of talent that might be worth another look but I’m not saying he’s the second coming.
  13. I guess if Watford are interested then maybe we could talk about Dennis or Sarr at the same time. Seem to recall there was some talk of us being linked with Dennis at the end of the season. Sarr will probably go to a bigger club than us but people have been saying he’ll be off to a top six side for a couple of years and hasn’t happened yet so you never know. As for Armstrong, I’m undecided. He’s got some talent and doesn’t really feel like he’s had a fair crack of the whip but something ain’t right and we can’t really have that kind of investment sitting on the bench and barely getting any minutes on the pitch.
  14. Definitely an option and if we got someone like that Austrian fella up front then would make sense to have him in more positions where he can cross the ball effectively.
  15. I think it’s some hipster term for pub.
  16. I would say the two ‘ten’ positions and up front should be our major priority. Stuart Armstrong does a good job when fit but no one else is able to consistently. That ten position is crucial and also really demanding on the player. They need to be good at closing down, bags of stamina, go past players, good eye for a pass, work well in close spaces and also be able to finish. We don’t necessarily need speed merchants because we compress the play so much but it would still be nice to have. To be honest I think it’s the biggest weakness of the 4 2 2 2 formation because it’s so hard to find players that fulfill the criteria and for most of them it’s a role that’s unfamiliar.
  17. I bloody love the frog chorus.
  18. There was an athletic article on how spurs ended up with nuno as their manager at the start of last season. Apparently Ralph was one of the people being considered for the job but they felt he might destabilise a settled dressing room. Article didn’t go any deeper than that but does seem to suggest that Ralph has a style which doesn’t always please everyone. Personally I don’t think it matters too much, as long as he has the respect of the players then that is generally all that matters
  19. He's total shite. Steer well clear but if you do sign him your best bet is to loan him out for a pittance. Hope that helps.
  20. I drink Carling, Fosters and all the other mass marketed lager. Personally I don't really like ale, bitter etc but I don't mind if other people do. What I find annoying is when someone comes up with an opinion on a subjective subject, say, for example, beer and casts judgement on anyone that doesn't share that opinion. Makes them sound like cocks.
  21. Nah, think he started 20 out of the thirty, was subbed off in 16 of them and came on as a sub for the other 10 appearances. As I said, could be a good player but hasn't got a record that's fantastic even taking into account his age and didn't appear to be anything special in the YouTube clips - quick enough but not blindingly quick, bit of skill but not so much that really stands out. Did look decent enough at playing with his back to goal and turning to beat anyone marking him closely though.
  22. Not really seen enough of Adamu outside the usual YouTube clips, plus the speculation seems to include a lot of wishful thinking, but he doesn't look that great. Got 7 in 30 games last season (including pens) but RB Salzburg won the league at a canter with a goal difference of +58 so I would have expected more from an out and out striker in a team that pissed all over the rest of the league. Granted he's only 21 but Mane had a much better record at a similar age (16 in 26 in his first season and he was playing out wide). As I say, really don't know that much about him but, on the face of it, would be quite a gamble to think he would be relatively prolific (at least initially) for us.
  23. Dunno if anyone has mentioned it but just realised that Svanberg would have played with Lyanco a couple of years ago when Lyanco was on loan at Bologna.
  24. Yeah, sorry, but I'm struggling to follow your argument here. You're saying no one ever has voted against their own interests? If I vote for a party that says it's going to raise my taxes then I'm doing it for some longer term benefit, is that it? Well, it's your opinion but I don't think I could presume to know the true intention of anyone who has ever lived (and voted).
  25. Romeo looks like decent cover for Romeu.
