  1. Ah well, it’s not like we were desperate to bring someone in. January would have been a good time to bring in another youth prospect as it would have given them time to bed in ready for next season but if they ain’t available then not much we can do. The Anjorin thing seemed strange though, I mean if his agent/Dad really was at staplewood then you’d assume we’d have been at least close to some sort of agreement with Chelsea. Wonder if we were trying to make Broja permanent and flip the loan to Anjorin instead?
  2. Nah, there's not much apart from the goal he scored against Marseille. To be fair it was a pretty good goal though. Tend to agree with you - 17M for a player who has barely played first team football is a lot of cash but I expect fees for academy prospects are going to increase a fair bit over the next few years. I guess you have to take that figure with a pinch of salt - probably loads of add-ons that are included and it would only be exercised if he was a success.
  3. Nah, he could ghost in at the far post, go past players as if he wasn’t there, scare the life out of defenders. Modern game is ideal for the deceased.
  4. Good free kick on him.
  5. Yeah, the other thing you have to factor in is that it's much harder now to buy young but unproven players from abroad due to work permits. I saw an interview with Rasmus Ankerson when he was director at Brentford basically admitting they would no longer be able to pursue the model that had got them promoted (buy cheap unknown Scandinavians). That means you can either develop your own, buy established but expensive, or raid the big club academies with the promise of first team football. It's probably more important than ever for clubs like Saints to have a good reputation when it comes to developing and attracting younger players.
  6. The Athletic article was interesting. Apparently Rangnick compares him to De Bruyne which is a bit overly complimentary based on my YouTube research but he does look like he could cope in the prem. Other thing of note was the option to buy at 17M with buy back at 34M, if they agreed that with Locomotive then see no reason why they wouldn’t do it with another club.
  7. I think there are reasons why Chelsea might decide to sell. There's no guarantee Broja will develop into a world class top, top striker. I think we've all seen enough to know he's going to be a pretty good premier league player and personally I think he'll go higher than that but it's not a given. One of the ways he will progress is by playing regularly and Chelsea probably won't be able to give him that. Sure, they could send him out on loan again but it's not ideal for Broja to be constantly having to adapt to a new team every season. The player himself might indicate he feels moving is in his best interests and in that case clubs don't tend to keep players who want to move. In many ways Chelsea can't lose here - they could bring him back and make him a part of the first team but if they don't feel he's quite ready then they can sell and in all probability get a deal that means they could buy him back for a fraction of the money it would cost to get another player of his ability. Lets say we buy him for 25M and there's a buyback for 50M. Presumably that only gets exercised if they consider him to be a consistent first team player. It'll have cost them 25M and they get a nailed on starter. That's not much for a striker (at a top six club) these days. Keeping him at Chelsea as a bit part player might mean he never gets the opportunities to progress to that level. Probably won't happen but I don't think it's completely unrealistic.
  8. Yeah, that’s why I did it. Boring little fucker hasn’t bitten yet. yeah, both deals have the potential to be very good and both have their risks. I’m always a little sceptical about the motivation of players like Alli who will probably feel he should be at a club with more chance of winning something and competing at the top end of the table. Course he could go the other way and rejuvenate his career but just feel more comfortable with getting talented kids who might have a little more desire.
  9. Think I would prefer us to concentrate on Carvalho than Alli. Carvalho fits the profile we look for and seems like an exciting prospect. Lots of question marks over Alli although definitely a player when on form. Both are implausible though………
  10. I don’t think anyone was suggesting he definitely had, just that it was a possibility. Which is a fairly reasonable thing to speculate on.
  11. For crying out loud this is getting ridiculous now
  12. Meatloaf wasn't an anti-vaxxer but he didn't much like lockdowns and would frequently complain of being all jabbed up with nowhere to go.
  13. Saw him at the BIC when I was a kid, first concert I ever went to. Whether you liked his music or not the bloke was a great showman - I doubt many came away without enjoying the show.
  14. The Athletic were reporting that Spurs and Everton were interested in KWP in the summer. Not saying he’s off but it’s plausible and I could see it happening if we had a more than reasonable bid come in.
  15. Ultimately I think Boris will only go if someone relatively credible sticks their head up and makes it clear they're interested in the job. I doubt they'll get to the number of letters needed to trigger a vote of no confidence without it, but if they did then I still think he'd pass unless it was clear that there was a decent alternative.
  16. Would be a shame if KWP left but can understand his frustration. Would have been interesting to see what a KWP/Livramento partnership down the right would have looked like. Don't know what Djed Spence is like but has only really been playing since he moved to Forest on loan - seems to have been linked with Spurs, Arsenal and Leeds but feels like an agent trying to drum up some interest. Was released by Fulham without making the first team, struggled to hold down a place in the Boro team and been sent out on loan. Could be a late developer though.
  17. Been impressed with Carvalho. Would be happy if we did bring him in.
  18. The difference is that the government created the laws that they themselves, it appears, broke multiple times.
  19. Realistically another season on loan is probably the best we can hope for but it’s always nice to dream. Even if he does go back after a season with a bigger reputation than he came here with then we’re still winners. Players in a similar situation will see we’re the right place to come to develop whether on loan or permanently and clubs like Chelsea will see us as good place to send kids to. Obviously I’d love to keep him but if it doesn’t happen then it’s still a sign that we’re on the right track
  20. If he thought it was a work event then he's a fool. Clearly he knew it wasn't but if his defence is to hide behind his own incompetence and lack of ability to see the bleeding obvious then it's a pretty pathetic defence.
  21. Gutted, the first opportunity we get to show we need investment in the team and we blow it. Fucks sake 😫
  22. Years ago I read a couple of histories of the Labour Party and the Conservative Party. At the start of each it listed what the party stood for - the labour one went on for half a page and all the things you'd expect - social justice, equality, redistribution of wealth, nationalisation etc etc. The conservative one just had the sentence, "The Conservative party stands for power". I think that's probably fairly right. The Tory party has flirted with ideology (Thatcher the most obvious example) but historically the tories haven't had many sacrificial lambs they weren't prepared to butcher on the altar of success at the ballot box. I guess fiscally prudent, small government, individualism, low taxation and a belief in market solutions are general Conservative principles.
  23. Yeah, it really depends on how the options are laid out. Australia had a shit alternative and it never got through - the alternative didn't replace the Monarchy with anything democratic. I think if someone is head of state and they owe their position to the hereditary process then that's a problem. There needs to be a fair, open and transparent process to appoint the best person for the job, they need to be accountable and there needs to be a process for removing them. I don't necessarily think we'd need to replace the monarchy with a president in the US or France sense. Why? You got a thing for blokes in donkey jackets Jamie? I ain't judging -whatever floats your boat.
  24. I'll refer to her anyway I choose to. Free country and all that. Obviously hit a nerve though for which I don't give a single tiny shit.
  25. I'm a republican not stupid. If there's a day off then I'll take it. There's nothing to suggest I have to celebrate Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gothe on that day but the rest of you lot can if you want. I've got better things to do.
