The plan was to have all commercial photos taken by a SFC agency and then released by the club to the media. Thus collecting additional revenue and selecting which pics would be released. Local newspapers complained and this lead to the nationals jumping on the wagon - I am sure the Echo's editor had a hand in **** stirring due to his fall-out with NC. Unfortunately this idea may work in other entertainment areas but not in football and NC was very badly advised. That's my take on the episode.

Agreed. I was underwhelmed when AP was appointed but think he was a good manager for us, albeit we still played inconsistently. I'll back Adkins or whoever is the new manager but would prefer a more high profile person - however, I will just sit back and watch as there is nothing I can do to influence the appointment of the next manager. Another new chapter is about to begin!!

We nearly always go to The New Forest Inn, Emery Down when visiting the foest area.. Good food and beer.

Bernard Manning and several other comics were funny at the time. It was the humour of the day and now things have moved on. Next people will have a pop at Tommy Cooper and the Carry On films. Was the Black and White Minstral show racist?? I don't think so, but unlikely to now be acceptable.

Christ, even Sky are reporting on this story. I didn't care too much about this change in SFC policy at the time, but now it's making us a bit of a joke - which I do care about.

I think there is still plenty of banter and **** take. I would notice if there was a decline when I come back over - which is often.

It used to be the case that there was (and still is to me) a difference between a Southampton accent and a rural Hampshire accent. I hope it doesn't go away as it's part of good old Blighty and something to be proud of IMO. Totally agree with other posters about the Yoof speaking Estuary and Wigger dialogue. Glad to report that most Americans still like the English accent and think it makes us naturally intelligent (I am pleased to report!!!) What is really annoying for us ex-pats over here is the amount of Brits who start speaking Californian as soon as they open the dooors of their Virgin Atlantic flight. Good point. It can be more frustrating seeing the result and not the game, which probably is where TT is coming from... I am prepared to wait a little longer before I take that long walk on the pier!

I think it's a busy area most of the year but more so in the summer, especially August. September or May would be good in my opinion.

Did this a few years ago for a long weekend. My suggestion is use the ferry from Pompey to Cherbourg and return via Le Harvre. This makes sense if you prefer not to double back on your trip. Head for Sainte-Mere-Eglise, Pointe Du Hoc and then Arromanches via the various beaches, etc. The film presentation in the museum at Arromanches is particularly moving. Visit the cemeteries including the German one. Pegusus bridge, etc, is all close by. We stayed in Arromanche and Honfleur. Agree with previous posters on what to see - it's all good and easy to find.

Last season was last season. Circumstances change. I 'pop' over every 3 months.

Did you not know that business is currently in recession and this type of expense is normally reduced until conditions improve?
