  1. There was a group of us at school that had a league running for quite a while. I think I won the league a couple of times but Rose tinted glasses may be affecting my memory!!
  2. Everyone seems to have forgotten that he did go on loan to West Ham last season (2nd half of it if I remember rightly) and I seem to recall him having a few shockers and being blamed for some of their defeats - maybe after that experience he's decided that it has to be the right loan move for him to go out on loan again.
  3. I thought the choice of picture, timing of replays, etc was often poor and really showed how good Sky are, but there was lots of verbal abuse and hand jestures from the crowd in a lot of close ups which may well have influenced the directors choices. Have to say though they should have expected it.
  4. Excellent news.
  5. Great result. Thought Saturday might have been the start of the slippery slope, especially at half time tonight, but now quietly confident again ... especially if it really does go pear shaped at Nottarf Krap!
  6. Just heard too. Tragic news.
  7. I think football really should take a leaf out of rugby union when it comes to referee's and match officials in general. I heard a really interesting interview on radio 5 live at the weekend with the welsh player who kicked the penalty that wasn't awarded as a score - although he was so sure it was going over he'd walked away he didn't argue, dispute or make bad comments about the officials at any time. I thought at the time how different that was to the Lampard 'goal' at the world cup last year.
  8. Shocking news. Wishing Dan a speedy recovery. Hope they get the people responsible too - no excuses for incidents like this.
  9. RIP Deano. Sad and tragic news.
  10. Welcome Nigel, time for you to work your magic. I have to say that when Pardew was sacked there was a plan in place, have been disappointed that it's taken so much longer than I expected to sort things out, but am sure that the future's bright and it's Red & White. Let's all get behind our new manager and show our fantastic support for our team. COYR!!!
  11. First off, thanks to AP and the team for all they've done and the great day out at Wembley earlier this year. I wish you all the best for the future. I'm a little surprised at the timing, as everybody else has said, the day before the transfer window ends isn't the best, especially onthe back of a 4-0 win, which I had hoped would kick-start our season - I also think we've been suffering from the "We're favourites", especially at home and was hoping the fact that we have a few away games would help us with teams having a more open approach when we play away. However, I have huge faith in NC. I think he is a great business person (I know many on here don't see that as important, but I think it is) and I don't think he would have done this unless there were problems of some sort behind the scenes ... and hopefully has a great replacement team lined up. Lets keep on supporting the team and let the owners sort out the management. COYR
  12. RIP Marcus, thanks for saving our club. Lets hope we fulfil your dreams of making our club great again.
  13. Thank you, both for saving our great club and also for having a great vision for the future and putting a management structure in place that will help make it happen.
  14. I think it looks great - I'm buying one as soon as I can
  15. Just got my Pompey ticket by phone - much easier than yesterday (100+ calls never got through this morning got through on the 9th attempt
  16. Great read, thanks for posting in such detail.
  17. One of my most vivid memories was beating Newcastle at home, 3-1 in the Merrington season, as we were 1-0 down for most of the match - I always felt that was the turning point in that season and I knew we would stay up.
  18. Good choice in my opinion - welcome to The Saints Alan.
  19. Glad to find this thread here, as I think it's really good news that KD has turned down an opportunity to earn good money warming the bench to stay with us and play. I'm sure there are lots of reasons, but we should be celebrating this as good news ... all part of a really good week after what's frankly been a disaster of a year so far (especially as I not only live in a Pompey area but my wife and step family are all die hard pompey fans).
  20. WS, thanks for the feedback - humour is in the eye of the beholder ... or something. Any suggestions? INS, hope you enjoy the jokes.
  21. Not sure if this should be here or the Muppet Show - please move if in the wrong place. I've just created http://www.jokesforayear.com - sign up for free and receive a joke every day for a year. It's my contribution to beating the credit crunch, by giving people something to smile about every day. They're recycled jokes, ones I've received by e-mail over the years. Setting it up has made me smile, hope some of you get some enjoyment out of it too.
  22. Well done everybody - I appreciate the work put in to running the site and have happily paid my £5. Keep up the good work.
