  1. Ron Davies and Rickie Lambert
  2. Something you'd particularly appreciate, eh?
  3. I will always prefer the traditional red-and-white stripes. Nothing better, I think!
  4. Easy to say in hindsight. Puel wanted to win the game, obviously. Gabbiadini was knackered. Puel hoped that fresh legs might just get us the winner. He took a gamble. That is his call. If Long had scored, you'd be calling Puel a clever tactician. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. Luck went against us.
  5. You missed the heavy irony, I reckon.
  6. Well, I liked this one: "We are the middle-aged; We like to sit in pairs; We take pictures when we want to, mush; And we don't f**king care!"
  7. Oh my God! Really? What the hell. Why can't they do everything properly, just like you do.
  8. Agree with this. For most of the game we surged forward at every opportunity. Very impressive.
  9. All of our EFL Cup games were against teams in the Premier League. We didn't concede a single goal until the Final. That's not emphatic enough for you?
  10. What a heartbreaker! I feel so disappointed, but also extremely proud. Well done to the team and the club. The effort was there, we just ran out of luck.
  11. By shoring up the defence so that we win three games that we might otherwise have lost. A difference of nine points in the table—that would be dramatic, wouldn't it?
  12. The difference? Who knows exactly? Could be a dramatic difference, but also one that might be difficult to quantify. The signing? It is a wise, precautionary move—providing cover, should Yoshida or Stephens get injured. He might even become a first team starter, if he gets fit and adapts quickly. Ultimately, it must be better to have him in the squad than not. Regardless of how things turn out, he is obviously a "relevant" signing.
  13. You said that if he doesn't play in the Cup Final, then his signing is not relevant. Having a high-quality CB available to play EPL games while Van Dijk is out is not relevant? Explain.
  14. No, nothing exciting or relevant at all. Absolutely nothing. Zilch. I can't imagine what even brought you onto this thread, let alone actually contributing a post. What a waste of time, eh?
  15. Newcastle (I have friends who are Geordies) Derby (mother born and raised there 1920-1941) Preston (a good friend lives there, time for them to get back to the "big time"!)
  16. OK. You wrote, " ... and recognise that it is there wherein you will find the failings, not with I." The word "with" here is a preposition. A preposition takes a noun in the objective case. "I" is subjective; the word you need here is "me". And "wherein" is redundant. Glad to be of service.
  17. ... not to mention the tortured diction and faulty syntax!
  18. 1. What is your evidence for the first statement (in bold type)? 2. Why do regular attendees "justifiably feel more let down". This seems to be another example of the "real fan" prejudice. 3. What makes you think that money spent, or time expended, should make a poster immune from criticism? 4. Of course, being abusive is not correct, but being critical is fine—the amount of money and time spent is irrelevant as far as the consideration of the opinions and conduct of fans goes. It is the validity of the opinion and the kind of behaviour that matters—not the relative amount of commitment. This sort of one-upmanship in the "real fan" stakes is tiresome.
  19. Are you serious? You think Dangermouth's marks and comments are sincere?
  20. Yes, 17th is all but guaranteed now!
  21. Saints under pressure.
  22. Here we go!
