Maybe Kelvin is not a good tosser, and we don't get to choose.

Does Coretese keep tabs of fans views via this forum?

As we are not in the PL, their rules mean diddly squat. I don't believe there is any rule in the FL that prevents the size of the pitch being changed, but I could be wrong. We narrowed our pitch considerably last season (or maybe the season before), always thought that was a bad move but I guess if you are trying to play through the middle then it might help and also narrows the gaps between defenders which should help when your defenders are not that good. But if we are going to play with width then the pitch needs to be extended again. The real problem though I am sure is the fitness issue. Not the explosive fitness, but the stamina. Most pro footballers can run around for 90 minutes, but without stamina training a la WGS they become mentally fatigued in the last 10-15 minutes and make mistakes. Our home grown players have never had a proper preseason with this sort of training (Lallana and James are too young for the WGS regime). On top of that Hammond and Jaidi also did not have a proper preseason. Morgan too, and he has probably never had this sort of thing in France, and I would suggest Papa is the same at Fiorentina, French and Italian styles of play are not so physically demanding). So that leaves about 4 outfield players who may have the physical stamina required, Trotman, Hammond, Lambert and possibly Mellis. I think it is difficult to carry 5 or 6 players in the last 10 minutes or so, this is why AP bemoans the lack of a preseason. It is nothing to do with the players gelling etc. They know each other well enough and seem to have a good rapport but they do lack fitness, something that has been an issue at SFC starting with Burley and continuing with JP and MW. I bet things will be different next season if Dean Wilkins (and AP) are allowed to see things through and not be drummed out by those who want an instant fix.

I suggest we replace Pardew now with Roy Keane. Then when that doesn't work lets bring in Paul Hart. Then we could try Wotte or Gray or Wigley, surely by the end of the season one of these will have discovered how to make Saints win. FFS, we need to stick with Pardew, I don't believe for 1 minute he will take us down, but I would even suggest sticking with him if he did. Promotion was not an option this season, next season is the important one. Some people need to learn a new word, FAITH.

Ali Dyer, where do we get these posters from ? LOL

Changing the manager is not the answer. OK, we have had a crap start to the season when we should by now be on +5/6 points at least. But does anyone really want to go back to the good old days of sacking managers every 5 minutes. Where did that get us? I have a good feeling that Pardew and his coaching team will get us moving in the right direction soon. I never expected promotion this season, anyone who did is a little delusional IMHO, it is worrying that we are still just as far behind as we were at the start of the season, but there are still 30 odd games to go, and sacking the manager will do nothing to improve our plight, indeed it might make it worse.

Think yopu'll be better off going back to Blackpool. Was there on Monday night (got out quick on Tuesday). It was closed. Seriously. Took ages to find anywhere open to eat, very few pubs were even occupied (and not many existed). I could not believe how **** the town was, looked like Skateville on a bad day LOL.

they're playing some of the lower teams, Wycombe, Oldham & Brighton, but also some of the top teams, Leeds & Gillingham and also Walsall. Then they get to play the bottom team.

No thats what the Cornish used to eat down the tin mines.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and DPS explains his dislike but generally doesn't insult the guy. I think it is a touch unfair though to lump him into the same camp as our resident troll. I have a great affection for Lawrie, and he has positively contributed more than most to this great club. Sure there are a few things he could have handled better, but everyone makes mistakes, even the great Ted was not flawless. I have met him, and I could well imagine not getting on with him at a personal level, his manner would easily grate, but hell, he probably would not like me either. There are many people who I would probably not be best buddies with but some people rise above that and gain respect simply for what they achieved and the pleasure that they gave not just to me but countless others, Lawrie is one such. If people want to dislike him thats fine, but some of the purile insults that are sometimes to be found on some people's posts on here are just pathetic and reveal a worrying hatred, showing how infantile some posters can be (maybe that should be singular). I sincerely hope that both Lawrie and Leon are to be seen at SMS again soon. Our history is important and those who contributed positively to the club's history should always be welcome. One or two should never be seen near the place again!!!

I know he is a troll, but even so he should not be allowed to post some of the trash that he does unchallenged. Why doesn't he(?) get banned again, we really could do without his involvement on this Board. I seriously think that unless the troll police do what they need to do that I will stop contributing to the board in future.

You are either naive or stupid. I would guess both.

Agreed. The only point I was really trying to make was that 19C is a total hypocrite in his lambasting of MLT on moral grounds, when compared to his undying support of other people who have no morals whatsoever. In fact, not being a "fan" of MLT myself (I am too old to think of players in this way any more, Channon was my hero, I am from a previous generation) I never regarded him in a partiularly high moral way at all. His personal life has some shady areas (marriages etc), his previous business dealings were none too glorious, and I always consider that even as a player he could have done so much more simply by trying to keep reasonably fit. That still does not detract from my view that he is one of our best ever players, and my acknowledgement that to a huge number of (younger) supporters he is revered as a demiGod (or even Le God). Like many other (most?) players of his era, as well as previous eras, and those that have come along since, Tiss has done some silly things. It goes with the territory of being a well paid sports star with lots of free time on hi hands. I always admired George Best, and really didn't give a damn about his off-field antics, but I always felt a little sad that like so many other geniuses his genius was somewhat tainted and we could have seen more than we did of his great skills. Mick C was no angel (thank goodness), that was part of his charm and what made him a great character. So, for me MLT is a bt of a fool for letting this slip, but I don't think much les of him for what he did, and at least he has been honest about it, even if the intelligent thing may have been to have kept stum. But what I can't stand is a hypocrite like 19C passing judgement of any sort on morals.

Our one (sort of) successful season (if you consider 6th place with the best squad in the League successful) was largely the result of having one of the best assistant managers around supporting the ailing manager. Snodin leaves, Burley reverts to being **** poor again. Our players were so unfit after half a season under Burley without Snodin that it was shameful, and made the turnaround under Pearson all the more remarkable. Fat players with no confidence and 9 games to keep us up. Thank goodness the Jocks came and took Burley before we were totally screwed and even paid us for the privilege. Burley's reputation is based on some success many years ago. He was a has-been when he joined us.

Did't see your post. It does highlight one of the down sides of the way policing is organised in this country with local, county based police forces with local interests. There is of course no evidence that the police officer in charge is a Skate, but the possibility is always there. Issues such as this ought to be investigated by a neutral force.
-
Hypocrite. How can you say you hold someone's moral code to be more important that their ability in this case, and then defend Lowe in other arguments. Lowe has/had no morals whatsoever, as demonstrated time after time, yet you put him on a pedestal and laud all he ever did with no scruples at all. This is why no-one really can take you seriously.
-
Wonder if the officer in charge is a Skate?

I think we might sneak this one 2-1. Stats would suggest that Charlton will not win 7 games on the trot. Would take a draw though.
-
You really do spout some drivel, and it is clear that you are not an SFC supporter of any kind. I don't know why I bothered to take the time to reply to your troll posts, but somehow it seemed the right thing to do. You write nonsense, others feel the need to put the record straight.
-
Seems the most likely person to have defaced the board is Lowe himself, probably did it just before exiting with his tail firmly between his legs.Sort of cheap trick the asshole would pull, as he had no regard for our history. More interestingly what is the answer to the questioin about the most youth caps. far more newsworthy and relevant.

Seems to me to be a sad indictment of the quality of Swedish football if Anders gets to 100 caps. Overrated non-performer for Saints IMHO. Still good luck to him, always seemed like a nice guy.

Coppell lined up as Director of Football - online report (or not)

Never thought Coppell would come to Saints, still holds a grudge from 76 -
Simple, at the moment he should either be in the reserves or loaned out to a League 2 side. He is one of those unfortunate young players who was made a star before he actually achieved very much. He will be good one day, but first he has to learn basic stuff like delivering an end product, in terms of a pass to a team mate, or a decent strike on goal. It is the danger of introducing players too soon. Drop him, give him the shock he needs that he is not invincible, then gradually reintroduce him when he got himself a decent haircut.
