  1. I didn't say at any point that supporters shouldn't be able to question club decisions; I simply challenged people as to the basis on which they were questioning certain club decisions. I then backed this up by (effectively) asking whether others fans in the country were likely to share my view, which I believe they would. I guess what gets me more than anything is some people's apparent need to moan (and me ending up moaning about the moaners)! It's impossible to satisfy all the people all the time on all issues, but Saints are getting pretty damn close at the moment. Just be grateful for that. COYR!!
  2. And a perfectly fair point you make, sir. I apologise for assuming you were one of the Cortese-bashers
  3. A comment like this detracts from the points you raise. 1. The flag - yes, this is an issue (I paid £50 lol!), but I cannot believe it's the club that's the sticking point; what possible motive can they have not to want it displayed? In my opinion, and as has been mentioned before, it's more likely that the risk of fans complaining/wanting money back because the flag interrupted their view for the opening period of the match is the issue. So the moaners and the blame, blame, blame culture are the problem, IN MY OPINION. I accept we should have had better communication. 2. The ticketing - as I said in my previous post, I've never had a problem with the ticket office when I've called with a query. And to deviate slightly, our prices are also mid-range when compared to others in the Championship, as shown by the BBC article published at the season outset. 3. The Cortese evenings - I have a funny feeling that the people moaning about them happening would moan if they didn't happen. Also, for the record, I know someone who sits with me (in the Northam) who has an invite. And finally, talking of the benefit to fans collectively (I acknowledge you didn't mention this in this context but I believe the point is still valid), can you really complain about the bigger picture? We're a football club, consider the football; just look at where the team is and where it has ambitions to go. Do you not think fans of most other clubs in the country would despair at Saints fans moaning about their Chairman hosting a dinner for fans?
  4. Which, talking metaphorically, is exactly what he deserves! We're top of the league FFS (and i know it's not all down to him, but he deserves a large portion of the credit)! How people can have a moan about ticketing.. Yes, the website's rubbish, but I thought that was because the club were tied down to a long contract with the provider (signed pre-Cortese) which has an insanely expensive get-out clause. And regardless of this, when I want to find something out about ticketing, I call and I always get the answers I need. It's not difficult. To the people moaning, have you ever thought the problem might lie with YOU? I'm starting to think some of you are skates on a wind up.
  5. It was great after he scored the fourth at Cov!
  6. Bit harsh. Let's get this in context: we've only got threads on them at the moment because they're our next opponents. And this thread only exists because their manager has said something about us. I recognise we have more threads on them than for a typical upcoming opponent, but our joint promotion should also factored in.
  7. In my opinion the most valid point was made in the first response; the net spending figure should be given the most weight. Otherwise you could equally argue we've lost £12-15m worth of talent this season yet still sit top of the league. Likewise, a company's revenue figure is only given meaning once compared to it's costs.
  8. To be fair they are our next opponents so very relevant to us atm. It's a world of difference to the year-round Saints thread presence on NSC.
  9. Very unlikely, as with most tax evasion cases involving the wealthy. From HMRC's perspective sending Redkn*pp down would mean less income (Redkn*pp wouldn't pay tax whilst inside) and more outgoings (the extra cost of another inmate). It's a shame but that's the way the world works.
  10. Also this
  11. Missing the point completely. I'm well aware Lowe made mistakes, I accept this and I'm glad we're under new ownership. I also recognise he made some good moves, though. People are far too simplistic in their assessment of Lowe; not everything is black and white.
  12. I never said Lowe invented it, I said he deserves credit, which surely he does for carrying it on and, ARGUABLY, taking it to the next level? It's the stubborn refusal of some people to acknowledge that Lowe made any good decisions in his time at Saints that I despise (and I know you didn't say that, but such people exist). Lowe was the chairman that took us to St Mary's, a stadium that I believe stopped us sinking into obscurity following our relegation from the Prem and played a pivotal role in Markus buying us. This cannot be taken away from him. Yes, other people were involved in the move (and they deserve credit too), but Lowe was the one who green lighted it. I didn't see many Lowe Out banners at Cardiff either.
  13. Great read. Lowe deserves a lot of credit for this, shame he doesn't get a mention tbh.
  14. Haha, quality! I'm in!
  15. I love how they (and Bournemouth) hate us so much, it's very sweet. What gets me with Brighton is some of their comments re winning League 1: - "great achievement, you can't take it away from us" - not great, in reality 44 teams outperformed them in the football league last season, including the likes of barnsley, doncaster etc. - "history won't remember who finished second" - most of the national press seem to have assumed we won League 1 last year, so "history" appears to have already forgotten I think it stems from having been outside the top 2 divisions for most of recent history; small club, small mentality. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if we the Championship but it'd only be marginally sweeter than automatic promotion. COYS!
  16. The way I see it, there's only two people we're reliant on: Nigel Adkins and Nicola Cortese.
  17. Blast from the past! What happened to him? And Guided Missile for that matter?
  18. Good song, always sung loudly. Brace yourself though, you're about to be shouted down by people who hate fun.
  19. *too
  20. Was this the "park for free if spend £25 or more" deal Tesco et al. were doing? We just picked up £25 worth of receipts that people had thrown away!
  21. I don't think we've failed to score since Rochdale away either, fantastic record. Has a newly promoted side (in any league) ever started a season so well??

    Wwnd?

I think everyone should subscribe to the WWND philosophy when it comes to life in general! Imagine what a nicer world we'd live in..
  23. Fantastic comment! This is what makes supporting Saints so addictive; we never do things by halves and long may it continue!
  24. My mate told me that the guy behind him once shouted "score!" when Saints were on the attack once! Made me LOL
  25. "Coventry...boasting the same squad who went down 3-0 at Millwall..." Boasting? LOL
