  1. No the committment and energy were there at times just the skill factor was missing. On Saturday I lost count of the number of times a pass was not within ten yards of its recipient.
  2. Derby were top of the CCC at times in the play off year....we beat them 3-2 away - we can all make stats read what you want them to. The fact still remains that I would rather we be in the Premiership and competing against the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal etc. On a match day I go to games now not worrying so much that we are facing a Ronaldo, Rooney or a Walcott but facing star names like Odejayi and that I feel we have more of a chance of winning which will make all of us happy - even give some a boner ;-)
  3. Yet another poster with selective reading...I said that I would rather we be in the premiership and hate the fact that we are financially screwed being out of it. I said that I just like the fact that every game we have a chance in the CCC not that I prefer it. Yes we OCCASIONALLY did beat Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd but in the 27 years how many times did we actually do it away?...although it was very sweet when we did. If you get a boner from Saints winning then I think you maybe you need to find a life!!
  4. Are you saying that no club ever gets thrashed then? We have beaten the league leaders in this league away and given some good teams a thrashing and your point is what? The whole point is no-one really enjoys our club being in the state it is and we have continued to sell any half decent player we have and never ever done whats required in this league and thats get a defence sorted equipped for this division. If we went up now and after yesterday that is light years away we would never compete and until we get someone in willing to invest big time we will get thrashed quite regularly in this league let alone the premiership. Some people enjoyed the fact we were able to be a big boy for a few seasons and had a chance but GB and the board ****ed that up and its the supporters who are left with the consequences.
  5. I enjoy the fact that every game we stand a chance of winning.....unlike the Premiership when away at Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal we never and got battered many times was that enjoyable?. I do not enjoy the fact that being out of the Premiership means we are financially destitute to the fact that our team and squad are now decimated to the extent that we are playing 8 or 9 kids and even struggling now to even compete with Barnsley. Why do you find that difficult to understand that and feel the need to question other people views other than yours every other day? Would I rather us be in the Premiership ...too bloody right! Do I enjoy this league? Yes I do when we have a team that can compete but the Burley mess and total mismanagement of the club by Lowe, Wilde and Crouch and all the cronies involved over the last 5 years means the supporters are suffering and constant sniping by people like you doesn't help. Some like it here in the CCC why can't you accept that.
  6. Agree with Um's markings and thoughts but would add this...until we have a defence and midfield that learns to mark players when we don't have the ball we will get steam rollered. The second goal was not Kelvins fault or even Surmans it was the fact that Garvan(7) was allowed to stroll round all night without one of our players even getting within 10 yards of him, for the goal he just strolled through the middle, ran at our defence and was allowed to roll the ball wide for the cross. All night the middle 3 Ipswich midfield were never picked up - the guy with the bandage on his head never had anyone challenge him at all whether he played up the middle, wide or when they pushed him on Surman and hit high balls at him. For 4 years now this club has not had a defence and its been a shambles of mismatch, patching up and make do's - until someone with a bit of balls looks up and builds the foundation from the back we will be relegation fodder. As for Stern....he worked harder than some games but when you are told your surplus to requirements it doesn't do much for your morale! Also how many times was he alienated on his own against 3 defenders and no-one within 20 yards and all our midfielders on the half way line? Our problem is we are crap at the back...the midfielders hardly attack the box for fear of a quick breakaway against our fragile back 4 which leaves the strikers battling alone - one runs wide and delivers a cross to one man in the box and maybe one midfielder against 6 defenders. We were lucky last night that Magilton wasn't brave enough to throw on another attacker but just replaced one for one.
  7. That must be true given the fact that I was in Portsmouth yesterday near Gunwarf and Southsea and was surprised at all the Pompey Cup Final Winners 2008 T shirts I saw when the game was actually on......bandwagon jumpers surely not!
  8. We had a few hours to kill waiting for a ferry so took my lad to Boy in the Striped Pyjamas as times were wrong for Dark KNight. I think the rating of 12a is far too lenient on this as the last scenes were pretty harrowing - nothing gory, blood thirsty but the ending...boy I haven't seen so many adults and kids cry in a cinema since Bambi! Great film, superbly acted but left me feeling a bit emotionally drained and certainly wouldn't recommend it to u15s.
  9. You wait until you try and cancel the Setanta package like my parents are trying to do at the moment....they are not alone! http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1105281 Luckily I get mine via Virgin Media

  11. One of the things that impressed me was his ability to play the simple pass sometimes the kids try to do too much. He just gets it down and plays it simple. A big tall lad that has the makings of a good footballer IMO. Only downside is his tendency to give away too many free kicks but that will disappear from his game with coaching and experience.
  12. I remember him and Bambi Cassells first game home to Liverpool Wright was abysmal...not surprisingly given the opposition that day. Ig memory servers me right we lost 3-2 to Whelan winner.
  13. I was sure there was a rule about u18 and only being able to sign for 2 years but having searched here http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesAndRegulations/Additional/Postings/2005/11/Section_C_rules.htm cant seem to find it.
  14. Not really you are far better listening to it at home .....you get a non influenced views by what you hear rather than what you see type of experience ;-)
  15. Just had a knee Op that will sideline him for a bit. Just for info .....Cork and Lancashire played alongside each other the other week against Bristol City Reserves against Steve Brooker a battling ram of a striker and Lee Trundle. They did Ok although we were beaten 4-2 we missed several sitters and 2 of the goals were long range efforts. Lancashire did well in the air and Cork looked very good playing the ball out of defence.
  16. Yet having said all that anti-stuff you still post here? You are either: a) a masochist b) 3 and throwing your toys out of the pram because you can't get your way c) wimp hiding behind anonymity of a keyboard I will never understand why people constantly whinge about a forum and then continue to post....do one of two things. 1. Set up your own and moderate it how you like 2. Don't ever go on it as what you don't know can't hurt or upset you. I used to post on the old UI site a lot until it got infected by the unclean lot now I hardly ever post or read it.
  17. Did you hear that there was an explosion in Goldsmith Avenue PO this morning and caused a £1million worth of improvements?
  18. The main problem was we never did change to a manager...we did what we always do and went for the cheap option of appointing the coach/es above their station. If we had appointed a proper manager and at that time there were better options then we may not have had to endure games like Bristol Rovers!!!
  19. You mean football fans are fickle...bugger me I am shocked! The Paul Allen saga was a classic example of how much greed we all have...in fact when it was rumoured another takeover was in the offing there was disappointment that they were not as rich as him! A lot of it is green eyed monster stuff when looking at the other end of the M27 and how much investment they have had in. What would be Utopia for me? Someone coming in and just paying off our debts to enable us to forget the Administration word for good. We have the right model now....Chelsea are now really ramping up their academy as they realise its the best way. Last Saturday I was more gutted at the defeat than ever.... why? Because I realise these lads are actually giving a **** and not just mercenary buggers and trying the best they can I even had a row with a bloke going down the stairs after Birmingham who asked why people were clapping when we had lost and he couldn't see the fact those nippers had treated us to some of the best football seen here in years. The Robinho transfer 92k a week is obscene...its now cheaper to watch England than a Premiership game. I have watched our academy for years it started when Walcott was about 15 and have seen the progression of these nippers to the first team and beyond...I have bought into the academy and the efforts Lowe, Prost, Henderson and now Hockaday put in and we have already reaped rewards in transfer fees that otherwise would of seen as sunk.
  20. I just hope Paterson doesn't take it to heart too much and he looked really down in the last 10 minutes. That is why I think losing Euell at the time was a big blow as he always seems to help out the youngsters and IMO there is a bit of respect from the young players for him. I hope one of the management has a kind word in young Pato's ear he is too much of a talent to waste.
  21. I didn't see anyone ...which is very unusual as John Mortimore is usually there....no managers or players who all must of gone away for a break? I always stand the dressing room side as you normally get a chance of a word with a manager or an autograph of a player for my nipper but no-one was there..no gossip sorry.
  22. Thomson was a deflected shot after good build up and BWP was a well taken finish into the corner after Nathan left the full back for dead and slipped BWP a great pass. No-one should question his commitment after tonites performance from Nathan and he was tremendously quick and had an end product as well...unusually ;-)
  23. We absolutely gifted them the result by poor finishing in the first half same old Saints. For 40 minutes we were awesome, pace, passion, movement and skill. The defence with Cork (quality all night) and Lancashire were dealing with the robust Brooker and Lee Trundles guile quite comfortably. Imudia had a good game until kicked up in the air....something that the ref let go all night against the most physical side I have ever seen at Staplewood. Fish was outstanding at the back and got forward really well. I was very impressed with Calum McNish and another one who could come into te squad next season. Poor old Paterson had one of those nights in front of goal he should of had 4 but to his credit he kept battling and will come good again - he will be a star I think as he has everything to his game it just wasn't his night in front of goal and it happens to the best of them. BWP worked very hard and deserved his goal but many times he got in good areas but his touch and control let him down. Euell was really good but his injury where he looked as though he dislocated his shoulder knocked the stuffing out of us as Jason was controlling the middle and adding valuable experience to our young side. Best player was Nathan worked his socks off and was a pain in Bristols side all night. Jake left the full back for dead many times and until Euell went off was looking a match winner but he was forced deeper. We lost 4-2 but should of had at least 6 ourselves !! Forecast in goal ....worries me a little..for a big bloke doesn't command the 6 yard line and although couldn't get near the first goal I thought he didn't get anywhere near the second which came from a long way out..perhaps thats a bit harsh but I would not want him in above Kelvin yet. The result flattered Bristol a bit as we should of been out of sight and had Paterson and BWP taken those guilt edge chances we would of won comfortably. We still have some very good youngsters coming through and the first 40 minutes was a joy to watch. Shame Jason went off as I am sure we could of gone on to win as he was playing very well.
  24. We should ask for more than that. Last owner paid £48m to terminate her contract (quote) Plus he had to buy her a plane....... and a razor for the other leg......sorry coat got!
  25. Are they a PLC??
