Looks like this thread will soon become all nice and sticky! -
Thanks, Monk. My day just got even better!!

So This Was Our Team Before We Spent £110 Million.....
Ohio Saint replied to Pastor Patrón's topic in The Saints
What he said, but with the most important word bolded. -
There is also another aspect to being an overseas Saint.....For a fair weather fan, it would be so easy to just let that old allegiance fade away. The best I can do here is to have a Saints sticker on my car, even though nobody has a clue what it is until I tell them. It's pathetic, I know, but the point is we never die. We can become irrelevant, but we are always there. That HAS to count for something.

By Sour Mash's guidelines, anyone posting in the "What is wrong with America" thread has no business posting there unless they live in the USA. Yet he does.

Um, yes. As an ex-pat, any opinion I may have is irrelevant regarding how I would cheer the team on at St Mary's. I thought that a forum was just a place for sharing opinions. I was not aware that anyone not physically going to the games should just shut the fick up. If this forum is limited only to those that can attend matches, then it will shrink considerably.

I don't want compensation for past events. I want hope for the future. Last night was disappointing, but done and dusted. The future is where it's at.

Massive support and cheering that raises the roof. The players know they ficked up. Let them know that all is forgiven if they reboot and get the season under way with a win.

It may be hard sometimes, but let's try to be positive...!

This. It's going to be a dull season ahead. -

I'm upset too, but really, get a grip and stop being a twonk.

But that's how they sound during a normal conversation!

So do we get him now or what??? -
Excuse me for being off topic for a moment, but Jesus H Christ St George!!! I can understand you being immersed in your new culture, emphasizing with your new compatriots. I can absolutely understand you seeing the point of view of those around you. You have every right to rail against British sensibilities if you wish. Some of what you say is with merit. However. You are talking like a cult member. Your comments lack moderation and seem to come straight out of an American nationalist handbook. I like living here. I like the people in Ohio, and have a lot of respect for them. I understand that some things are better here, other things are better elsewhere. You, though, seem to be reading from the redneck handbook. Please, please, get a grip. I thought you were a bit nuts a year or so ago, but now you seem to be completely losing the plot. Take a breath and think about what you say before you say it. It seems to me that you are mixing with a bunch of skinheads.

So slowly in fact, that I can't tell if it's moving downhill or uphill.

We are Saints. We move on.

I'm absolutely for it with some decent safeguards. I'd also like to see an end to this bullcrap where people talk about sufferers of life-threatening illnesses fighting for life (Usually by the media). Sure, let those who want to do that fight all they like, and good luck to them. I wish them well with utmost sincerity. However, it usually makes those who simply choose to quietly slip away on their own terms look like pussies. That is far from the truth. It takes just as much courage to die gracefully as it does to fight to live while waving a fist in the air. I've seen both kinds of death in real time. On each occasion, the event suited the personality and sensibilities of the person dying. I have equal respect for them and their situations/decisions.

He's just playing to people's preconceptions. It's totally understandable. and normal on the interwebs. If we banned people for being tedious, there would be little to no forum left.

From POL: Steve Crawley fans celebrating like they have been promoted - honestly, I'm not joking Um....Yes mate, you are joking. You just don't know it.
-
An away draw is almost always a decent result. I wonder how many of the few will be able to grasp that though. Equal 5th with themselves won't sound quite the same.

When I was a kid, Saints were in the First Division. Naturally at first I thought that was where they always were, and always would be. If you want your kid to grow up with any sense of reality, make him a Saints supporter at the earliest opportunity. This game is best best way to teach a kid the lesson of hard knocks and great joy without physically kicking the crap out of him then buying him an X-Box .
-
Joint second if we don't mind splitting hares. (subtle gypsy joke there) They've had a good start to the season, as they did last year. However, this season they are looking better and consolidated after all their struggles. Most on POL are feeling very confident. It will be a more interesting season this time for both the skates, and anyone hoping to see them fail.

If we are talking about 20 years ago, then the Hog's Head in Holbury. What is the square root of Fratton Park?

The FA cup for me.......Unless we start calling the Euro thingy the UEFA cup again. In that case, the UEFA cup, please. I'm old.
