I am guessing they are not in High School yet. We all get to learn the fanciful half-history stuff about people in robes when we are younger. Their history education in High school will most likely not advance beyond that level though. The education system here seems to be a big fan of revisionist history when it comes to anything that happened after the early 1600s. Texas education board members (politicians) get to say what gets included in many of the books that go out to schools in the the rest of the country. That is a serious problem.

I see that as a bad thing in terms of getting value for money maybe, but a good thing in terms of raising our profile to the players that may sign in the future. A double edged sword there, I think.

My wife is smart. Her education and her awareness of the world around her, however is non-existent. I don't mean the rest of the world either. I knew more about American history than she does even before I came here! She is not the odd one out either. I see it all the time every day. Most of the common people in Ohio, at least are very poorly educated in terms of geography and history especially.

Drives me nuts that one!! I mean, fair enough, it's their country, they can pronounce the names however they want......But it still drives me nuts. Locally to me there are towns called Milan (My-lun) Greenwich (Green witch) Berlin (emphasis on Burr) Then again, look at the way we pronounce Beaulieu!!

I lived in and around Cape Town for 4 years in the early '80s. Obviously that was during apartheid, so I have no clue about what it is like today. At that time, if one could ignore the obvious elephant in the room, it was a marvelous place. Absolutely beautiful with loads to do. In fact, the wife dragged my ass home because I was a lot younger and having way too much fun out there. Although the crime rate was bad at that time too, I never really noticed it. I have to admit though that I would worry about it if I were moving back. Just like anywhere though, you have to be sensible about where you go........Hell, I'd go back to Cape Town in a heart beat. Who am I kidding?

And we didn't concede a single goal in the entire season!!! We are awesome!!!

Stripes or sash for me. I hope we are going to be a force next season, and would love to attach some honour to the stripey teams. Sash is good also for historic reasons and identity.

I only follow one sport, so that's it for me. Apparently the wife is looking forward to "Conversations"..........Not sure what those are, but it looks like I will have to endure some.

Anyone who thinks we should have been going out guns blazing because they are professionals should take a serious look at how they might be in the same situation. I'm happy with it. Job done. Onward to next season.
