  1. meh you should just be happy we've got Pinnacle, could be a whole lot worse.
  2. Good article in this months TSF about how football in Britain is collapsing.
  3. We should just be scouting League two and the conference for young players. Peterborough have got some real gems from non league sides. Looking for players who are already established will just be expensive and they aren't guarenteed to produce for us or even to be better than what we currently have. Mackail-Smith (125k 43 goals in 97 games), McLean (150k 49 goals in 90 games) and Boyd (260k 27 goals in 102 games). We should be looking to sign players like that from non league sides. Not making 1.2m gambles on French teenagers, taking on crocked players like Holmes or journeymen like Wotton and Euell. Agreed that Paterson could be the answer, I don't think he would get enough goals to get us promoted but there really won't be the aim next season. If our wingers can both pop up with 5-10 goals and Patersons strike partner can get 15 or so then we would probably be comfortble in midtable even with the point deduction. If we do get a little bit of money to spend from sales it has to go on a centre back. Thomas, Lancashire and Perry as our only defensive options doesn't bare thinking about. If selling McGoldrick meant we could afford to sign Size or centre back of equal ability I'd be all for it.
  4. Broad...
  5. I'll be there again, shouldn't be quite so warm this week.
  6. We play non league sides every pre season,
  7. good set of fixtures, Bournemouth will be immense.
  8. Would be nice to have an excuse to go back again.
  9. Indeed, can't help thinking we would have been a lot better off keeping John for the full season and using him as our lone striker under Poortvillet. Even Euell playing the whole season after his injury could have made a difference Lowe's masterplan of just playing the kids was a big part in our downfall no doubt. Some of the players get talked up on here like they're world beaters when they're just as accountable as the management.
  10. If only this was a two legged friendly with an away match. Would love to go to Amsterdam again. Hopefully Jol will bring over a few decent players, not many in their squad worth getting excited about.
  11. He had the most shots in the league, we created several chances for him he was just bobbins all season.
  12. Agreed. Just like Surman, Lallana, Size etc if they where half as good as someone people seem to think we wouldn't have been relegated in such an embarassing way.
  13. Team Bath Injury forced him to end his career early, and he took a coaching role with Team Bath in 2000. His time at the University of Bath side is best remembered for the FA Cup run in the 2002-03 season, in which they became the first university team to enter the competition since Gonville & Caius in 1881. Team Bath entered in the preliminary round and advanced through four qualifying rounds to the first round proper, before losing to Mansfield Town. At Team Bath, he had a great deal of success, earning four promotions.
  14. Dowie for me. All I know about Tisdale is that he's managed two promotions in a row which is obviously a big achievment but I don't know the first thing about Exeter, how they play or what they where like before Tisdale took over.
  15. They are always going to say something like that though, probably an attempt to make us pay a % of his wages.
  16. In awe of his ability? Seriously? Are you Surmans Mum or something?
  17. First away, don't care who it's against. Something to look forward to.
  18. We should have got rid of him ages ago. I'd take the 400k now, don't want him here next season and 400k could be usefull in signing a player who isn't a *****.
  19. Scunny and Millwall didn't have a 10 point deduction.
  20. Loads. No chance of promotion next season so it will just be a case of bedding in a few more youngsters (McLaggon and Mills imo) alongside the few who stood out last season (Gillett, James and McGoldrick) then spending money on the positions which need strengthening. Personally I'd sign Size up if he wants to come and sign a striker. Let the squad have a season together and then next summer spend a decent wedge getting in players we need. Then getting promoted from the Championship would take about 3-4 more seasons of continued investment.
  21. No wonder we're in the **** if our wage bill is 6m a year.
  22. I'd imagine the 500k we got from Pinnacle will keep us ticking over for a while if the worst was to happen.
  23. Would make sense, I thought that was the idea when Mike bought the bibs.
  24. It was ridiculously hot today. Good game although the teams where not balanced at all. Maybe we should buy some bibs?
