  1. Got The Mist and Pan's Labyrinth from Santa, both are thoroughly excellent and really worth checking out. The Mist is one of the more original horror films of recent times with a smashing ending and superb timing throughout. Pan's Labyrinth is just the tits, I was worried I was hoping for too much after getting carried away by some of the reviews but it really is a superb film. I also got I Am Legend (for some reason), which is gash. Oh and In Search Of A Midnight Kiss, which sounds like it is going to be a chick flick but was actually really enjoyable too.
  2. I went into a branch in Chelmsford at the weekend to have a look at what was left over when a member of staff handed me a large carrier bag and told me I could fill it up for a fiver as they were waiting to close. I ended up with £1300 worth of stuff (at woolies prices, prolly under a grand everywhere else, but still a bargain). It is all **** though, and all going on ebay.
  3. I hope so, along with lots of other songs about Steven Gerrard, having a season ticket and Liverpool being top of the league. I think there are some potential saints classics in there!
  4. Me + 3 others. They had nice pies last year and I'm looking forward to a repeat.
  5. This is not investigative journalism, the BBC did not lead a Panorama documentary calling the incident a minor car crash. A football team's website put in the team news section that a player was involved in a minor car crash. Firstly, as the article was about the team's preparations for a fixture I think including news about a serious car accident would have been in extremely bad taste, secondly, the only proper way to report it would have been an article of its own but seeing as though the facts are still not fully known and the player is only ours for a matter of days it seems really unnecessary. The person publishing it probably did so without fully understanding the seriousness of the situation, but seeing as though they work for the Saints website and not a serious mainstream news network I would think they don't have the resources to double check their facts like you suggest. The next time the physio tells the guy that Svensson is not in the match squad because his knee has been playing him up do you want Svensson to swing by the media office for a second opinion? Or should the guy get on with the rather trivial matter of relaying the team news to the fans? You imply that you work in the media but I would wager that it is with something more weighty than what we are talking about here. The source of this news must have been either the player himself or the police, why would the club's media department find it necessary to look into motorways being closed down or hospital admissions? "Hello is that the Hospital? I work for the Southampton Football Club website and I wonder if you could tell me whether or not there have been any serious implications from the road traffic accident which happened earlier today?"
  6. Dear Michael, All the best for 2009! Regards Ash
  7. Calm down, who knows what their source for the story was. For all we know Robertson could have told the club what happened and who knows what his state of mind would have been at the time. Either way, it shows how desperate some people are for sackings with no real thought for the process or consequences which lead to the action which has got them in such an unnecessary flap. Amen to that. Two footballers in one year, Stevie G duffing some guy up; how long until the Daily Mail start running 'Footballers out of control' stories?
  8. That is ****ing brilliant.
  9. Are they intended to stimulate debate amongst the viewers? I think the banner should say HI MUM in big red letters on a red background.
  10. I am perhaps a little too young to remember that but as it backs up my theory I will agree with you.
  11. Results have not been good enough and I'm getting to the stage where I would be less and less bothered if he was sacked but some of the points people make about him are stupid. The body language? Someone at Swansea the other week berated him for having his hands in his pockets, ignoring the fact that Martinez was adopting a very similar stance about ten yards away. For realsies? You've never heard of goalkeepers making good captains? You remember who collected the FA cup when we lost to Arsenal?
  12. Completely agree, I haven't seen him do anything remotely worthwhile since West Brom last year. Reminds me a bit of Adam Hammill, sooooooo little end product. If someone offers us a couple of million in the transfer window I would snap their hand off.
  13. A lot of the leading managers in the world play the exact system we are playing, Man Utd sometimes play without a striker but it doesn't mean that it is not an attacking formation. Over half of the teams in this summers European championships played with one up front, including the two finalists. You can debate the effectiveness of the formation for our squad, division and circumstances but to suggest that it is not an attacking system is idiocy.
  14. An interesting article on the subject from the Guardian (not on our formation specifically though, obviously) For my part, I don't see the formation as our problem. Certainly I don't believe the differences between 442 and 4231 are that massive that we would have more points with 442.
  15. Yes, get him in now! But if we don't beat Nottingham Forest I want him sacked by Monday with Roy Keane coming in on Tuesday. If Keane doesn't take our squad of inexperienced reserve players back to our rightful level of top half of the Premier league by March I want him hung, drawn and quartered and replaced by whoever else gives Delldays a boner. Repeat ad nauseum until nobody gives a **** any more.
  16. Are you for realsies? Que? You do it first, you thick ****.
  17. Because it was, it is the dictionary definition of knee jerk. Not many threads like this when we went four unbeaten a whole seven days ago, the same people who didn't give previous managers a chance are doing it again. Anyone with any semblance of a grip on reality would surely appreciate our squad isn't up to much. The fact that Lallana is being held up as one of our most sellable assets says everything. Not saying there is nobody who could do a better job, but seeing as though we aren't relegation dead certs just yet (beat Forest next week and we will be seen points clear of relegation) why don't we for stability for just a bit. Five managers in a year would be excessive even by our standards.
  18. But who makes better music, Matt Berry or Nick Berry?
  19. Not just Wolves, most games. Drew really needs to find some ********, if he plays with like that for us and he is a Saints supporter I dread to think how faggy he would be in any other team.
  20. I have not heard it but Matt Berry did all the music in Snuff Box, which is well worth checking out if you haven't seen.
  21. I'm sure I remember us beating Leeds on Sky since we came down, your list is flawed.
  22. I can't tell whether you are trying to be funny or suggesting that Madeline McCann was hot? Either way, way to go you.

    Oh Dear

Why is that a genuine insult to Mandaric as opposed to Bates?
  24. Surely a member who has only missed two away games all season should be pretty sure of getting one. I have only been to one home game but have been going to most away games, not as part of a poncy protest or anything but I just prefer away games and cannot afford to go to every game. I will be very ****ed off if I don't get to go to the Man Utd game because someone who has been to three or four home games gets preference over me.

From a rumour that the goalkeeper coach is leaving you get all excited that we are not going to replace him! Firstly, if the rumour is anything like 99 percent of the other rumours on here it will be bull****. And if it is true, why don't we wait and see if the club replaces him before getting a boner about it. I see Arsenal included a goalkeeper on their substitutes bench last night, are we to assume from this that Almunia is leaving in January? Or is naming a substitute keeper standard practice?
