It's not sh*t loads of players for the sake of it. We need the cover. If Murty gets injured, we'd need to play James at RB, which means we'd compromise our options in midfield.

Seriously , what the fook is wrong wtih Scottish people??? :|

Good news. Now we just need shot of W00Tton, Pulis, Molyneux, bring in about a dosen players and we're sorted.

Well, we had Robben and Torres last season, he couldn't do much for them.

Nice day Norf of the border.

Stating the feckin' obvious I'd have thought. ANY of our players will be off if they get a decent offer, Kelvin aside. The difference being there are apparently clubs interested in John, Ras and Saga, whereas I can't see how any clubs will have been excited by Paterson.

Schumi, Vettel, Heidfeld, Sutil, Glock, Rosberg... We just need Heinz-Harrald Frentzen back now.

Except Piquet has never been caught out being too far forwards.

I wonder if they could go back to being Sauber. I know they lost their main sponsor when Red Bull took over Jaguar, but I think Peter Sauber still features fairly predominantly in that team. Maybe Markus Liebherr could buy them.

If this means we can afford to keep Rasiak and Saga on their wages then so be it IMO. Both better players when in form. Admittedly they have been a long way from their best recently, but they are quality and I trust AP to get the best out of them. John would have been good to have, but I was never over the moon about him staying this season. To lazy and his form dropped badly last season.

Time for Pardew to show his nouse here. If nobody wants one or both of them, he needs to get their a*ses in gear. They are both on big wages and should be in the first team in L1. It's not like the club is holding them back, if they stay there is no reason for them not to give it 100%. If they stay, they need to realise it's because they weren't good enough to get a move somewhere else, and or their wages demands are too high. I'd be happy to go into this season with a fully motivated strike force of Ras, Saga, Pato and Lallana (please can we stop pretending he is a winger)

I'm pretty sure the ball goes out of play when you score a goal too.

2015? Surely Pompey's state-of-the-art 500,000 seater will be ready by then?

I say, they're not very polite and welcoming to their South coast neighbours. "Oi, superskate **** off you C**T!" Whenever our pet skates make an appearance on SWF we're always friendly and much more articulate with our words. Some people...

I'm guessing you are being sarcastic as Gene has always been a very average driver. The only time I can remember him scoring for Minardi was at the Nurburgring in '99. It was a rain soaked event when only about 8 cars finished and Johnny Herbert won in a Stewart. IIRC his team mate Badoer was running in 4th until he retired with tech issues. Remember the poor guy sitting by his car crying his eyes out.

So he's definitely staying then. Brilliant.

For those of us who weren't conceived until 5 years after that season however, it was the best in living memory. Those four plus Euell and Skacel. Also Liptack, Smith, Gasmi and Killer played a handful of games each, although they were the kinds of fringe player who SHOULD be replaced by accademy players. The six regulars who have departed need to be replaced by six equally capable replacements, plus further strenght in the areas we were weak last season. At the end of the day we're never going to see eye to eye on this one. I see your point and wouldn't be unhappy if we only got 5 or 6 players. I just like to have as much redundancy as is ecconomically possible built into things.

What I meant by that question was what if those three got injured on top of Holmes and Schneiderlin's reccuring injuries. Then you really would be struggling to put out a decent team, even in League 1. That's not me being a pessimist, there are going to be periods next season when we have upwards of 9 or 10 players injured. Just looking at last season's (already thin on quality) squad, we've lost 9 first team regulars and thus far only signed Harding.

Sorry, not convinced by that lot and a squad made up of a mixture of first team and bit part players has just been beaten by Farnborough. I know, it's a preseason, a lot of youngsters, Pardew didn't pick the team etc. but more worryingly this wasn't a freak result or performance thus far. Looking at the squad there, it's riddled with players who aren't up to the job. CB: WT and CP fair enough, but OL and PW just aren't up to it. Both wings: Gobern and Thomson made a few fleeting appearances last season, but aside from Goberns 45 mins in Preston neither of them looked anywhere near up for it. Holmes is almost constantly injured. CM: MS has shown good touches but hasn't delivered anything yet and has injury problems. PW not good enough and AL is a supporting striker or nothing IMO. Assuming MS and LH both maintain their dubious injury records, what team would you put out if say James, Thomas and Gillett picked up a knock?
