  1. There are still ways around it, like giving a friend who lives far away the money and asking them to buy it. I'm not saying everyone would do it, but as JFP says, it would certainly be open to abuse.
  2. Think it's a perfectly valid point though. Nothing to stop someone registering their ST with an address far away, then getting a mate to post it to Southampton. It would pretty much mean anyone could get the discount and would defeat the entire point.
  3. Only runway in Europe with a cattle-grid.
  4. That's not true, they played together at Hull last season.
  5. Ssssssssssshhhhhh!!!! People will think I am a better fan if they think I pay for them.
  6. Davis - Not too many complaining about him now. Ifil - Got some decent results with him playing. Beat WBA IIRC Thomas - Jury still out. I like him. Davies - Player of the season after what, 13 games? Sold to Prem team. Vignal - When he was given a second chance was probably our best player second half of the season. Viafara - Bit hit and miss, but played a blinder there at Pride Park Surman - Good player, if inconsistent last year. Safri - I didn't think he influenced the game enough, but far better than Wotton. Skacel - A class apart in the 1 1/2 games he did play at LM. Rasiak - 3 things are guaranteed in life. Death, taxes and Rasiak scoring goals. Saganowski - Have faith, give him the ball and he can tear a new anus out of ANY defence in this league. Last season it wasn't the players, it was the management. Burley took us to midtable obscurity, Dodd/Gorman took us to the brink of relegation, Pearson did just enough to save us under tricky circumstances. It was a team full of BWPs, Jason Euells, Darren Powells, Adam Hammills and Jermaine Wrights that got us in trouble IMO. He was injured, then hit and miss when he returned, but had a blinder at the start so point taken.
  7. I left Frankfurt in October, keep up.

    Wayne Thomas

He was an excellent holding midfielder, so naturally Burley played him in defence.
  9. 450 mile flight from Prestwick to Bournemouth, 30 miles train journey to So'ton Airport Parkway, short drive to SMS... and back again Would have done it for the first time on Saturday but I was working.](*,) Now planning on going to Cardiff game again. Don't let me down please Saints.
  10. You don't think miss-management was the issue last season, rather than a lack of tallent in the squad? Personally, I can't see this team getting to within 20 minutes of being relegated: Davis Ifil Davies Thomas Vignal Viafara Surman Safri Skacel Rasiak Saganowski

I think Thomas like Skacel is a good player, but will always be criticised for the amount of money he cost. £1.2m is double what he is worth, but we've just pretty much matched that for Morgan Schneiderlin, who it has to be said has contributed far less than Thomas did last season.

Marcello Sarmiento? Steven O'Halloran? 1 Year contract extension for Darren Powell?

    Yes. Very badly.
  14. Sorry, but comparing Burley to Pearson based on points per game is a bit wide of the mark. Pearson had £0 to spend on player transfers, took over the team 1 hour before his first game in charge and had to turn a team in freefall around in 13 games. Burley on the other hand took over a team in 12th possition and took them to the brink of the drop zone before steadying the ship. He was then given £10m to spend in 2 seasons, as well as having tallents like Jones, Baird and Bale at the club, which Pearson never had. Despite all this he only managed to scrape into the playoffs on the last day of the season, then when he left we were in the same possition we were in 2 years ago, but with a massively inflated wage bill. FWIW, Pearson's points per game was far better than Burley achieved in his first 13 games.
  15. His first definitely, that is absolute class. No other player we have had in the CCC has been capable of that and I'd be shocked if it doesn't end up on Sky's goal of the week. Wouldn't be surprised if it won either. His second had something of Anders against Spuds in it. A good goal, but terrible defending, letting him run through the whole Preston half without a real challenge before poking it past the 'keeper.
  16. Brilliant.
  17. A few more goals like the ones he scored yesterday (apparently) and I reckon we'd have drawn enough extra fans through the gates to cover his wages. To makes the maths easy, lets say he was away 20 weeks and missed 20 matches. On £10k a week, at £25 a ticket, we'd only need to draw another 400 people per game through the gates. Less if we'd not bothered with Robertson and Pekhart. More than doable if we were winning games with football as entertaining as yesterday sounded.
  18. Anyone got a link to the goals? They don't have The Championship in Scotland.
  19. ...never walk alone?
  20. I think a bit of width in midfield would be useful. Can you imagine Skacel crossing for Euell and Saga, who are both good in air. Goals in that IMO.
  21. Fair play to Rudolf the red nosed left back. Sounds like he's doing anything but sulk after a move failed to materialise.

    LLoyd James

Remember him being excellent at Reading. Anyone been to both games who could comment. Sounds like he's improving, but when I saw him for the reserves a few months back he looked best in midfield still.
  23. No wonder he didn't play well, he's a f**king television. I am really sorry.
  24. And to top it all, we played out the last 25 minutes with 10 men after John Parkin ate Simon Gillett.
