  1. Have you considered why Wolves, WBA, Derby, Stoke and the other teams we were competing with never sold players for £10m? It's because they kept them and they're still there now. Chris Iwelumo is infact world class, but love Wolverhampton so much he turned down Barcelona. Nah, just kidding. The reality is that none of our rivals had tallents that came closed to rivaling Theo, Bale or Jones. They were a bonus which nobody else had. Sunderland won the CCC that season. The first thing they did when they went up was buy Kenny. We had high expectations, but with that team we should have been comfortably in the hunt for automatic promotion and winning the League. Burley massively underperformed.
  2. He inherited a squad containing Bale, Surman, Jones, Baird, Lundekvam, Oakley, Prutton, Pahars, Fuller and Higgy. He was then given £7m to spend and we just about scraped into the last playoff spot beating relegated Saaafend on the last day. Very poor return IMO. He took over a midtable underachieving team, spent £10m on players and left with us midtable, underachieving... and with massive debts.
  3. I was planning on getting an ST, on the assumption that I will be off work for roughly half the season's games and therefore get to maybe 12 home fixtures. Just put them all into my calendar and there are only FIVE homw games I'm not working this season. Gutted. They're not even good fixtures either. Rochdale, Bournemouth (having already seen them in the cup), Exeter, Dons and Walsall.
  4. Doubt they can afford Rasiak. Jermaine Wright on the other hand...
  5. Happy with that. Plimuff will still have that losing mentality hangover from last season, so I'd much rather play them in the first game, rather than some do or die crunch game on the last day.
  6. Germany beat a really really sh*t Australia side with no strikers. We drew with a pretty decent USA side and should have won but for individual mistakes from Green and Heskey. Incidentally, that's Switzerland's 5th clean sheet in a row at World Cup finals. They went out of the last World Cup on penalties to Ukraine, without conceding a goal in the tournament.
  7. Er... so: 2x League 1x League Cup 2x FA Cup 2x JPT 2x playoffs Bring it on!! :D
  8. Bournemouth at home. Second fixture, Bournemouth away. Let's kick start the campaign by hammering them 3 times.
  9. It could still be for charity without Corden's squashy mug in there.
  10. Is it just me or is James Corden on every f**king show on TV at the moment. He's even in the number 1 single in the charts, not even doing anything. He's just stood there dancing like a mong and hugging Dizzie Rascal. F**k off!
  11. I'd have serious doubts over his attitude if he wasn't. He's going to be spending next season in the reserves, possibly playing in the cup games.
  12. I agree that Mills look far better as a LB than LM. Anyone who thinks he can't DAJFU need only ask Sbudgiehorpe fans about him. I think a season long loan would do him some good. I can see Harding leaving within the next year after Dickson's signing. I really don't see him being impressed with a year playing reserve football.
  13. Bingo.
  14. Here's one for you: Which player currently on the pitch for NZ is soley responsible for Saints relegation from the Prem and all the following problems.
  15. If, in five years time, we're a stable Premiership side with aspirations on Europe and the ticket prices haven't gone through the roof, then I wouldn't care if Hitler was running the club.
  16. Well, he's a good signing, although Harding is an excellent left back so it seems very odd brining in a replacement. Neither will be happy playing reserve team football, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out. Shame for Mills too, who I thought looked a very promising player at LB last season and could easily have filled a gap when Harding was injured. Also, let's please please please NOT play DH at RB. It'll be Skacel at LB all over again. He will do a half decent job as a stop gap, but it wont bring out anything like the best of his ability. Before you know it, people will be saying he can't be arsed anymore and doesn't want to be here.
  17. I only drink tea at work. I would at home too, but I just don't have the patience to wait for the kettle to boil and never bother.
  18. I'll come clean. I've been up since 4am and couldn't be arse to read those lists properly.
  19. I suppose Northampton away is practically guaranteed. Either Bristol club away would suit me. Why are Leicester, which is about 30 miles south of Nottingham, in the North pot, whilst Notts Co are in the South pot. So is Peterborough, which is about the same lattitude as Leicester. Norwich is on the same lattitude as the pair of them but in the South pot. Odd.
  20. I don't know about a lot of revenue. I can't see there being that much demand for what is basically, the Chapel End with a big garage door accross the goal line. It would certainly take a fair few boxing matches and er... NBA games to pay off a £100m odd stadium.
  21. What exactly is SMS missing that we need to build a new stadium for? It's hardly Steaua Bucharest.
  22. I wasn't refering to the noise the fans can and can't make. It's more the fact that it's just a big building in the middle of nowhere. No pubs nearby, no signs of life within half a mile of the ground.
  23. Yes. Went to Colchesters new ground in January. Worst away game of the season. Apart from yet another sh*te game against Colchester, not helped by Hoofroyd taking over, their ground was just a soulless, aircraft hanger of a stadium.
