  1. Last year we were the second best team in League 1. Norwich are gone and none of the dross coming down is as good as they were. Last years squad would have been the best in the league this year. Since last year we have lost Waigo, Bonio and a load of crappy bench fodder. We have gained probably the best LB and RB in the League. Dickson can also play midfield if needed. In short, I'd say we were abotu 3 players away from having a complete squad and we already have one which can easily beat any opponents in League 1. Sorry Alpine but you're really flogging a dead horse with this one.
  2. So let me see if I've got your theory correct... There was a very important IRANIAN diplomat on board the Iranian flight, which happened to be flying over a conflict involving a US warship. The US wanted a war with Lybia for some reason so they shot the IRANIAN airliner down in order to provoke the LYBIANS into shooting down an American airliner, so they've had an excuse to attack Lybia. Yes, that sounds entirely plausible to me.
  3. Sorry, but there is absolutely no benefit to the US to be gained by shooting down a commercial airliner. It was a PR nightmare, same as any friendly fire incident these days. What "reaction" could they possibly be trying to provoke? The Lockerbie bombing? They are still waiting for an appology because the US doesn't feel responsible. The Vincennes was under attack by small boats at the time and as far as they were concerned they were shooting at an F14. As such, they apparently don't feel to blame for the incident. Indeed, the Vincennes returned to a hero's welcome in San Diego when the conflict was over.
  4. That was an accident which resulted from negligence on the USS Vincennes and a series of unfortunate coincidences. Basically they thought they were shooting an Iranian F14. You can hardly compare that with the deliberate bombing of a civilian airliner.
  5. Everyone is entitled to freedom of speech, but there are laws preventing that law from being abused. You shouldn't be allowed to say things which could in some way be detrimental to someone else's quality of life. That includes inciting racial, sexual or religious hatred and making false acusations to slander other people. Wearing a Burkha doesn't fall into these categories. It's an item of clothing people choose to wear. As I've already said, if women wearing Burkhas are being oppressed at the moment, they aren't suddenly going to be liberated if Burkhas are banned. In all likelyhood their husbands just wont let them out the house at all.
  6. Stoke are collecting our ex players.
  7. No, they shouldn't be banned IMO. Several reason's for banning them make no sense. 1) "Men use them to oppress women" - So what will banning them achieve? We aren't going to see oppressed Muslim women walking down the street in bikinis, being educated, voting... whatever else their husbands don't allow them to do, just because Burkhas are gone. They will still be 'oppressed' 2) "They are a security threat" - F**k off. That's just Daily Mail paranoia at its finest. How will banning Burkhas increase security. We aren't going to catch Bin Laden mooning through the window of Scotland Yard just because Burkhas are banned. You could disguise yourself as a clown or anything if you want to walk around without being recognise. 3) "They aren't even a religious requirement anyway" - Neither are Man Utd shirts, but you see plenty of them on the streets of Coventry and Plymouth. P.S. The French are a bunch of communist retards. I've come to expect such stupid decisions from them.
  8. Nick Proschwitz CDAJFU
  9. Well, this should kick the complacency out of us pretty hard if nothing else.
  10. Lowe in!!
  11. Pic from the game. Sorry.
  12. None forecast this evening.
  13. Is he as good as Mystery Trialist, who scored in a pre-season friendly against Cheltenham before the playoff season.
  14. That looks promising on 2 counts. Firstly it would appear we're getting in another winger if 11 is free. Secondly Holmes has been given Pulis' number, implying he hasn't activated an extension cause of some sort in his contract.
  15. Okay, I've got the song for Saints black away kit sorted.... Here come the men in black We know that you'll remember Here come the men in black Promoted by december Here come the men in black We're all different genders Here come the men in black You're all sex offenders!
  16. My hopes for Heskey were somewhere on par with the North Korean squad (RIP). Rooney on the other hand was being bigged up as one of the top 3 players in the world and ended up looking like a vicar in a strip club. Ronaldo didn't set the tournament alight either, although in the Spain match he was completely isolated up front and really isn't a 'focal point' striker anyway.
  17. Players who have underperformed or had howlers, as opposed to just generally crap and obscure players from N. Korea and Honduras we've never heard of. Short of putting out an entire England XI, here goes Green (England) Zambrotta (Italy) - Terry (England) - Canavaro (Italy) - Evra (France) Keita (CIV) - Gatusso (Italy) - Melo (Brazil) - Kewell (Australia) Rooney (England) - Anelka (France)
  18. Then the transfer is all but confirmed. Thank you Green Shorts Man.
  19. Whenever I see his name I can't help but think he is a motorbike racer for some reason.
  20. Go on then. I'd go with... Casillas (Spain) Lahm (Germany) - Puyol (Spain) - Freidrich (Germany) - Capdevila (Spain) Sneijder (Holland) - Schweinsteiger (Germany) - Muller (Germany) - Honda (Japan) Villa (Spain) - Forlan (Uruguay)
  21. Would leave out Hammond, Lallana and Dickson though.
  22. Are you sure they're not just random. I know having a distinctly average holding midfielder as #10 makes no sense, but even so I didn't expect him to give the number up. Those numbers would make sense though. #8 not taken by anyone... Danns anyone?
  23. We could inflate a load of bin bags and chuck them around.
  24. I hear the weather is lovely at this time of year and they have an excellent pool bar.
  25. I think this is one of those rare subjects we agree on Chez. There is no doubt John had the skills and scored some fabulous goals throughout his career, but f**k me he made MLT look like Ormerod. I remember watching him in the cup game against Ipswich last year. Most disinterested player I've seen at SMS since Robbie Fowler when he was at Cardiff. His lack of work rate cost us as much as his goals gained us IMO. Has also been incredibly average goal wise since he left. 3 goals for Bristol City 2 years ago I think.
