  1. I can't even tell anymore. There are people on here whop think we're going to sign Michael Owen, Cortese is as bad as Lowe and that the World is going to end because we haven't signed anyone by 10am on July 1st.
  2. Sorry, but that's a complete load of bullplop. 2 days to sort out a shirt with his name on the back? Behave. That's a 5 minute job, tops. Also I doubt there are cheques for millions of pounds floating around in the postal system. I doubt the royal Mail is used at all, or cheques. It's probably all done with emails, faxes and online bank transfers. IF there is indeed a transfer in the pipeline taking 3 weeks, there must be some deliberation over the fee or wages.
  3. Murty has been released. Not quite sure why so many people think otherwise. My shopping list would be 1. One right back 2. One utility defender. Cover for RB and CB, like Thomas but ideally a bit... a lot quicker. 3. One pacey wide man. Antonio would be ideal. 4. One creative central midfielder 5. One industrious central midfielder 6. One pacey striker.
  4. The 5 goal hauls against Huddersfield and Walsall both came with 2 up front. The 5 against Bristol I'm not sure about as I wasn't there. Puncheon, Lallana and Antonio all started, but I'm not sure in what formation. We weren't exactly weak away from home either, we beat Norwich and MK Dons away, keeping a clean sheet in both games, playing 2 up front. We also won the JPT with a 4-4-2 formation. I suppose it's one of the oldest debates in football an I doubt we're going to settle it now.
  5. Most of the 4-5-1 games I saw just ended up with Lambert isolated. 4-4-2 for me, especially at home. Cannot understand why people are so keen to leave Barnard out either, especially in favour of a hypothetical defensive midfielder. He's second only Lambert in the scoring charts, we should be sticking the pair of them up front and tearing teams appart, not stuffing the middle of the park and hoping for the best.
  6. 1. The Michael Owen 'rumour' isn't a rumour, it's just plain idiocy. 2. Why would we want to sign a 34 year old from League 2? Is that really the limit of our ambitions?
  7. That cannot be right. To name one example, we started the season with no #14 until Hammond signed after about 3 games.
  8. We were playing Oldham away when Gillett made his debut for Donkey. Was driving back down to Lincoln and ended up listening to their post match radio show. They seemed pretty impressed with Gillett and there were a couple of phone ins praising him. If BWP can move up a League like he did last summer, I'm sure Gillettt can.
  9. There's a programme just starting on BBC2 which might be of interest to some. About how jet engines are built.
  10. That is the best name in the universe.
  11. I agree in principle, although there is always the risk that you will uncover the next Ince or Sturrock (I know, Haggis etc). Would be good to see Clark given a go at Fulham though. What with Reid taking over at Plymouth, and the Pilgrims showing no signs of selling BWP, things are falling into place nicely.
  12. I find this incredulous. How can you say the worst player was a goalie who made one howler, but was otherwise solid enough? Especially when we had Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Heskey, Carragher, SWP, Lennon and Upson who were continually complete gash?
  13. Before opening this thread I'd have said Schweinsteiger or Sneijder, with honourable mentions to Honda and Klose. Messi has shown some skills against N. Korea and the like, but hasn't delivered.
  14. That will never happen! Ghana haven't signed any new players yet.
  15. I really don't think this matters either way myself. Clearly the names have been changed for a reason and that reason isn't simply to spite the fans. Apparently there is some commercial reason why the new names are more appropriate for the people running the club.
  16. As far as I'm concerned they can call it the 'I take it up the batty from John W******d Suite'. Is this really the latest scandal we're getting outraged about?
  17. When it comes down to the numbers I'd like to see: 3. Dickson 4. Hammond 5. Fonte 8. Morgan 9. Barnard (or Beattie in a dream world) 10. Connolly 11. Puncheon 12. Antonio 13. Bart 14. Danns Being a tad optimistic there with a few transfers. Edit: Flicking through, Morgan and Mills don't have pictures on there. Hope that's nothing more than an admin problem.
  18. Ryanair fly to Milan Bergamo, which you could get to from Bristol or Stansted for about £100 return, including taxes etc. Bristol is somewhat limited on the dates, but Stansted goes 3 times a day. That's about 3 1/2 hours drive to Interlaken.
  19. I'm going on Saturday BTW. Anyone else going and want a lift?
  20. I wonder how it got that name.
  21. I hope to be going on Saturday. Would sour the weekend somewhat if anyone has been killed. Hope this isn't true.
  22. That is the most ridiculous statement I've heard all summer. I can't be bothered spending about an hour of my life explaining all the reasons that is wrong.
  23. I don't think he can do no wrong. The disagreement with the Echo and subsequent OS stories released at 11:30pm are a bit childish. I don't agree with this stand-off, I just don't give a sh*t. I don't read the Echo anyway and I am perfectly capable of reading the OS at 11pm if I want to. The lack of installment plans is bad for a lot of people too, although I'm not getting an ST and if I did I'd save up and buy it up front. RE: Stupid PR exercises of old, have you forgotten "Total football". Putting Jan Poortvliet in charge and making out that we will be playing the same football Holland played in the 1970's. There was also the down right lies, like telling us we'd snatched Lee Holmes from under Derby's nose, when infact they'd released him about three weeks previously. And who could forget Morgan Schneiderlin and those stories that we'd beaten Pompey, Spurs and Arsenal to his signature.
