Turkish seems to be spamming the main board and not reading this thread. FFS. Pap - that camp sounds horrible. PS: Shouldn't it be acclimatise rather than acclimate?

I miss you baby Hope life up north isn't being too harsh on you x

I was under the impression that Sunderland tickets sold out ages ago - did we get more allocated to us or something?
-
I hope we get 4pts from our last 2 games, but to be honest I can see us drawing the next 2. As long as we're safe, I don't give a f*ck about the results. Hopefully finishing above 15th though, as I get a little bit of scratch from a bet for that ----------------BORUC---------------- CLYNE-----FONTE-----MAYA-----SHAW ---------MORGAN-----CORK----------- LALLANA-------S.DAVIS--------JAYROD ---------------LAMBERT--------------- Subs: K.Davis, Forren, Hooiveld, JWP, Guly, Puncheon, Mayuka

Tottenham 1-0 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Think we did miss Morgan in the middle today to restrict space on the edge of the area. It's a role that Guly did well in the first half, drifting in from his wing and dispossessing players in the middle of the park. Think Steven Davis may have gone missing one or two times defensively but was good going forward. Still, cracking strike though. Not sure many (if any) keepers would've saved that, struck it incredibly hard into the far corner. -
Reading through this thread I feel a bit bad to say the last time I cried was when we went 2-1 up against Man City in the first game of the season! Such a huge moment though, to be beating the Champions at their place after all the sh!t our club had been through over the past 5 years was incredible.

Love Nick Drake, especially that album. One of my all time favourites.

Love a bit of Swim Deep. The Sea is a great song! Seems to be a massive 90s revival going on at the moment. I'll check out those recommendations, also a cheeky share of that playlist would be good. Sounds like there's a lot I still haven't discovered!

Was in that little group of fans in the first video singing that all through half time - great laugh! Nice to actually have some lively fans around me at an away game for a change, I usually get put in amongst a load of WWI veterans.

Got back about an hour ago, gutted to have lost. We should've had 2 or 3 by the time Bale put that one in. Clyne, Lambert, Lallana, Rodriguez...all had good chances to score. We just can't seem to put the ball in the net at the moment! Very good team performance, we were all over Spurs and in the first half we were excellent. No real weak links and the players coming back into the team (Fonte, Shaw, Guly) all had cracking games. Lambert a little bit ineffective but that's because Verthongen is a great defender and stuck tight to him all game. Looked much better when dropping deep, just couldn't get that ball through to Jay Rod or Mayuka towards the end. We can take solace from a great performance but slightly worrying that we're not picking up any points and not scoring any goals. At least at the start of the season we were scoring and losing! One final thought, Spurs fans are faaaacking sh!t. Completely silent all game until they scored, at which point they sung our song for about 20 seconds and then either sat down and were quiet again or f*cked off home! Unbelievable. -
I keep getting an error, must be too ugly for it.

Mine was £575 this season as well, would expect it to top £600 next season. Also I won't qualify for a Young Adult ticket anymore so will have to pay full whack

This is what a lot of people said about Ramirez when he signed for us. This is what a lot of people said about Rickie at the start of the season.

They would have played Lennon on the right regardless of who we picked to play LB tomorrow. Feel more confident knowing that Shaw's going to play, he's much more of a match for Lennon than anyone else we have who can play there. -
Mauricio Pochettino: The Argentine at Southampton with big plans
SuperMikey replied to thornhill_saints's topic in The Saints
Also did he not have anything to say about the ghost in that picture of Luke Shaw? Seems to be some kind of conspiracy here. -
True, but the UKIP hardcore are a particularly special breed of politics fan. Go along to a meeting or something and ask one of them just exactly what is the issue with Europe. Be prepared to sit back and listen to 25 minutes of fast-paced, short-breathed ranting about "BLOODY EUROCRATS", "BRUSSELS IS TRYING TO RULE BRITANNIA" and all that other sh!t.

You ever sat down and spoken to one of their avid supporters? Raving bloody lunatics. Obviously that doesn't apply to all of their voters - a lot of people have only recently started supporting them - but their core voters are very often....interesting individuals. PS: It's "en masse". European, innit.

How come all of our refs are being changed at the moment? I think that's the 3rd change in 5 games? Also, Clattenburg

Aside from a CB, I struggle to think who we could've realistically brought in during the January window that would've had a massive impact on our squad. The resurgence of Jay Rod, Artur Boruc and Steven Davis have been hugely influential - and these were players who we already had at the club. -
I last voted in the 2011 local elections, but since then i've become very apathetic towards mainstream politicians. There's only a few out there that I actually respect and feel could be good Prime Ministers (Andy Burnham for example and possibly even Vince Cable), but that's outweighed by the sheer number of f*ckwits like May, Osborne, Miliband, Clegg, Huhne (formerly) and Cameron. Tories - Poor economic policy, weak leaders and pandering to far-right lunatics. If Ken Clarke was leader then at least I would find them more tolerable. Labour - Even weaker than the Tories, no clue about their economic policy and Miliband is so uninspiring. They need to give him the chop before the next election. Lib Dem - If they want to ever win any votes again then Clegg needs to leave. Give the top job to Cable or someone else who's actually popular with the party's core. UKIP - Absolute nutters. Very clever as to what information they use to propagate their bullsh!t about the EU but they're not exactly hard-hitters so get shown up easily. BNP - Not much recent publicity, but that doesn't change them being the vile racist scumbags that they are. Would've thought Nicko would have something to say about Bulgarians! Greens - Probably the party I would be most likely to vote for at the moment, but they don't have any strong leaders and I don't agree wholeheartedly with their environmental policies.
-
That's exactly what we're doing. Few bevvies on the way up and a quick stop off somewhere along the way for another jar or two and we're sweet!
-
Also I did not vote today, and I will continue to abstain until there's somebody worth voting for. UKIP are nutters that feed people very selective information, or just complete misinformation. Just capitalising on peoples fear.

That article answers its own question re:the population rise - 1 in 6 people in the UK are 65 or older. Give it 25 years and a large majority of those people will no longer be with us and our population will even out, barring any major changes in birth/death rates. The birth rate in the UK is relatively low on a global scale - in fact a large proportion of births in the UK are in non-British families. Without immigration/migration (whatever you want to call it) we would be facing a population crisis like Italy where their ageing population (20.2% of the Italian population are 65+) will soon have a real effect on their labour force and also the levels of government spending on welfare and pensions. You can talk about immigration being a bad thing, but ultimately we're always going to need immigrants for a variety of reasons. People complain that they're "taking British jobs", but the fact is that we've become accustomed to a very comfortable way of life here that people in other countries capitalise on. Nobody really grows up wanting to work a menial job, but we need people to work in those professions. People come to this country and perform the tasks that a lot of people feel are below them. Construction, sanitation, caring and nursing - these sectors have high levels of migrant workers because we're all wanting our cushy office jobs and fancy pushing a pencil for a living rather than a road drill. I'm one of those people, that's just what a lot of people expect now. You and a lot of others might not agree with it, but frankly that's been proven in Western civilisations like ours over time.

He was absolutely quality against us at the Emirates - everything went through him. Agree that he has yet to make a real impact in a "big" game though. -
I only realised today that they're playing at Glastonbury on the John Peel stage. Could be the gig that launches them over here. Very excited about it. I've not really listened to any new music in the last few years, i've pursued a bit of a 60s/70s love affair mostly listening to the Beatles, Stones, Grateful Dead, Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield, Nick Drake... Having spent the last couple of days listening to some of the bands breaking into the scene at the moment I have to say i'm massively impressed! The likes of Peace, Daughter, Savages, Tom Odell, Palma Violets...all really great. Exciting few years to come in British music I think!
